National Trust Cottages Access Statement Gardens House, Ickworth, ref. 010046 Introduction Gardens House is a two storey L-shaped Victorian brick and slate cottage It sits near the bottom of Ickworth s sloped Walled Garden and borders a lake Sleeps six in three bedrooms One upstairs bathroom with shower over bath; one downstairs cloakroom Open fire in sitting room; wood-burning stove in dining room Numerous varying floor levels Sloped walled garden to the north and another opening onto a lake to the south Large trees afford the gardens and house some shade, but there are plenty of sunny spots too as the lake is south-facing * Please note that all door widths given indicate the clearance required for access The cottage is arranged as follows: NT / Ray Dale Ground Floor: Large entrance lobby gives access to: the northerly walled garden; the kitchen; and the utility, off which is the cloakroom The kitchen, which gives access to the back stairs, leads on to the dining room, which leads in turn to the inner hall From the inner hall doors lead to both the north and south gardens and the sitting room First Floor: The main stairs lead from the inner hall up to a landing off which are the double and twin rooms A doorframe leads to a further landing off which is the king size bedroom Down some steps is another lower landing off which is the bathroom and the back stairs that lead to the kitchen Pre-Arrival See the main webpage for booking and location details Please contact us prior to booking if you have any specific access requirements Directions provided with booking Please bring a torch if arriving in the dark as there are no streetlights here Approach A road leading to a track (both with some potholes) leads through the estate to the cottage The cottage forms part of the wall of Ickworth s Walled Garden Page 1 of 10
