PRESERVING THE ORIGINAL LOOK OF YOUR CABINETRY HERE ARE SOME BASIC THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND. GENERAL PRECAUTIONS (all products) Although we have full confidence in the quality of our products, we would like to remind you about a few basic precautions for the maintenance of your cabinets. If you put your oven on self-clean mode, make sure cabinet doors and drawers are opened. Or better yet, bring your oven forward by six inches to protect your cabinetry from excessive heat. Make sure your oven or dishwasher is not creating excessive or constant heat, which can damage the sides of the doors and cabinets. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION to all appliances that can generate heat or steam (for example, kettle, coffeemaker, toaster, toaster oven, convection heater or electric baseboard heater) that are often placed on counters, just below cabinets, or close to both. In the case of countertop appliances, once they re turned on, they should be pulled forward completely from under the cabinets. This is a good precaution for making sure there s no excessive heat or humidity directly below your cabinets, which can damage the product. Try to make sure that you don t leave your open doors too close to convection heaters or electric baseboard heaters, which produce a very direct heat. The Polymer is particularly vulnerable to sources of steam and heat mentioned above. Please pay particular attention with this product so as not to damage it. PRECAUTIONS: WOOD Wood is a living material. It can expand in a humid environment and contract when the air becomes drier. This is all perfectly normal. This is why it s really important not to expose the parts made of solid wood to elements that can damage dovetailing or joints. It s also important to note that light can begin to change the hue of your stained wood over time. If you ve replaced an old door with a more recent one, you ll need to wait a few months before the two stains match each other. Wipe surfaces quickly with a dry cloth to make sure water does not seep into the varnish. PRECAUTIONS: SOLID LACQUER Solid lacquers that are exposed to the sun can yellow slightly. It s a normal process that happens over time. AVOID hanging dish towels or damp rags on kitchen or bathroom cupboard doors. Direct moisture can warp the wood, peel off the door s edgebanding and even alter the color of the wood. 6 m i r a l i s. c o m M a i n t e n a n c e g u i d e 7

Ensuring everything is properly maintained Making minor repairs to your wood cabinets WOOD WOOD VENEER Your wood cabinets should be treated like a quality piece of furniture and maintained with products made specifically for varnished wood. These types of cleaning products, which take off grease without causing damage, can be found at any hardware store. make sure to dry it immediately with a lint-free cotton cloth. Never use any detergents, abrasive cleansers, steel wool or powders. Make sure not to let any oven cleaner get onto the cabinetry. SIGNIFICANT REPAIRS SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT BY A COMPANY THAT SPECIALIZES IN CABINETRY As careful as you might be, damage does happen and can affect the overall look of your customized cabinetry. Sometimes the problem only requires a simple touch-up, with scratches completely disappearing. Your Miralis dealer can provide you with a touch-up kit that matches your cabinet doors. Use a damp cloth to clean up spilled liquids. After sopping up the area, MELAMINE EUROPEAN LAMINATE ENGINEERED ROUGH CHIC POLYESTER ACRYLIC SOLID LACQUER SIMILACQUER Matte Use soapy water (a soft soap not dishwashing soap) to regularly treat it and always rinse with clean water so as not to leave any soapy residue. It s really important to immediately wipe your cabinetry with a dry cloth right after you wash it. Lacquered doors do not react well to being treated with numerous products and organic solvents. It s really important to use a mild soap for this product. Stains on Similacquer matte (Absolute Matte) products can easily be cleaned with a product such as the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Glossy Glossy items can be cleaned by simply adding vinegar to your water or with products such as Windex or Bon Ami foam, which you can then wipe off with a dry cloth or paper towel. Caring for these products is similar to cleaning a mirror. For best results, use the Ultra-gloss polishing kit once a month on all your glossy cabinets. AVOID abrasives such as Javex, Comet, Ajax or Vim, which we highly discourage for maintaining your cabinetry. Touch-up markers Make sure the surface you re restoring is clean and dry. Shake the touch-up marker, hold it vertically, with the point facing up and press down on the point for a few seconds. Turn the marker over and press the point against a piece of cardboard until the point becomes soaked with ink. The point should now be damp without being wet. Use the marker on the area you need touched up. Wipe any excess liquid with a clean cloth. Wax sticks for touch-ups Make sure the surface you want to restore is clean and dry. Apply the stick in a back-and-forth movement and fill in the entire damaged area. For easier application, first warm up the stick in your hands for several minutes. Remove excess wax by delicately rubbing the treated area with a clean cloth. Stain touch-up kit Make sure the surface you want to restore is clean and dry. Use a brush to apply the stain to the necessary area. Wipe up excess liquid with a clean cloth. 8 m i r a l i s. c o m M a i n t e n a n c e g u i d e 9

Adjusting hinges Our cabinets, which close softly and effortlessly, are built with durable hinges that last for years. From time to time, though, you ll have to tighten the hinges screws. Over a period of time, they do tend to loosen slightly, even with normal use. For up and down adjustments Rotate the adjustment screw clockwise or counterclockwise until you find the proper positioning. For left and right adjustments Remove the plate with the Miralis logo. Rotate the first screw clockwise or counterclockwise to make the adjustment. Put the plate back in place. 10 m i r a l i s. c o m
