ABOUT SKYRISE CHICAGO SkyRise Chicago invites over 2,000 participants to climb 2,109 steps up to the 103rd floor of the iconic Willis Tower, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, to raise funds for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Franklin Street Chicago, IL 60606 EVENT PURPOSE SkyRise Chicago raises more than $1 million for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, the number one rehabilitation hospital in the United States for the last 27 years. Formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is the first-ever translational research hospital where clinicians, scientists, innovators, and technologists work together in the same space, applying research real time. In our new research hospital, research does not just co-exist with patient care, it is integrated 24/7 into the clinical environment to drive breakthroughs in Human Ability. Funds from SkyRise help provide quality rehabilitation care to adults and children with a variety of physical diagnoses, and go to support the hospital s main initiatives, including: CLINICAL CARE We are recognized as the leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), treating over 55,000 patients per year through inpatient, outpatient and DayRehab programs. The research hospital specializes in post-acute treatment of a wide range of conditions including spinal cord injury, brain injury, neurological conditions, cancer, amputation, limb deficiency, Parkinson s disease, chronic pain, cerebral palsy and other movement disorders. REHABILITATION RESEARCH We have the largest private research center in PM&R in the world, where more than 300 research projects are currently underway. We seek to identify and develop the best new methods of treating patients for some of the most medically complex conditions in order to bring about better outcomes for the people we serve. MEDICAL EDUCATION The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is committed to fostering the next generation of specialists in PM&R.
