Let s talk safety Basic safety precautions This iron is intended for domestic use only and NOT for commercial or industrial use. Only use the iron indoors and keep the area you re ironing well lit. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Keep the iron and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years of age when it is energised or cooling down. This iron can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the iron. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. Don ts Don t touch any hot areas on your iron. The soleplate on the iron can become extremely hot and may cause burns if touched. Don t leave the iron unattended while it is connected to the mains and before it has cooled down. Don t use the iron if has been dropped, damaged, immersed in water, left outdoors or has any visible signs of leaking. Don t hold the iron under a running water tap, always use a jug to fill. Don t touch the power cord with the irons soleplate. Don t use the iron if the power cord or plug is damaged. Please contact our Customer Care Line on: 0330 026 8455 (Mon-Fri 8:30am to 6:30pm, Sat 9:00am to 5:00pm) Don t handle the plug or use the iron with wet hands. Don t pull or carry the iron by the power cord. Don t use the power cord as a handle, pull the power cord around corners or sharp edges or close a door over the power cord. Don t unplug the iron by pulling on the power cord. Don t aim the steam jet at people, animals, plants and electrical components or wires. Never touch the steam jet (there is a risk of scalding). Don t use the iron with incorrect voltage as this may result in damage or injury to the user. The correct voltage is listed on the ratings label. Don t use the iron on clothing that are still being worn on the body. Don t open the filling aperture during use. Do s Always switch off, unplug from mains and allow the iron to cool down before carrying out any maintenance or troubleshooting. Always stand the iron in the upright position between uses and keep the iron moving whilst in use. Leaving the soleplate in contact with any surface for an extended period of time will cause damage. When placing the iron on its stand, ensure that the surface on which the stand is placed is stable. Always use the iron on a heat resistant, stable, level surface. Always unplug the iron from the mains before the water tank is filled with water. Always fill the water tank with water only. Never add perfume, descaler or products containing alcohol. Filling the water tank with hot or boiling water will invalidate the warranty. Always ensure the soleplate and surfaces are free from grit and debris before use. Always carry the iron by the handle. Always empty the water tank when the iron is not in use. Always replace the fuse in the plug with a British 13amp fuse. Always protect the power cord from heated surfaces or near open flames. Use only CE approved 13amp extension cords, non-approved extension cords can overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the extension cord as it could be a trip hazard. Before storing make sure the iron has fully cooled, the water tank is empty and wrap the power cord around the iron. Store the iron in a cool, dry area away from children. Please keep instructions for further use and use only as instructed in this guide.

The steam boost function can be used to iron in the vertical position to remove creases from hanging clothes and curtains. The anti-drip function stops drops of water falling onto your clothes when ironing at low temperature.

Taking care of your appliance CAUTION: Always unplug the appliance from the mains and allow to completely cool down in a safe place before carrying out any maintenance or troubleshooting checks. Do not leave water in the water tank between uses, as this can effect the irons performance. The water tank should be emptied after each use. Repeat the process again until all the impurities and flakes are flushed out from the iron. Your Vax iron contains an anti-calc cartridge which helps to reduce scale deposits and helps to maintain the performance of your iron. It does not need to be replaced. TIP

Cleaning and maintenance Notes Cleaning the soleplate After carrying out the self clean process always clean the soleplate, making sure any water stains or impurities that may have formed are completely removed. CAUTION: Do not use abrasive or scowling materials as they will scratch the plate. Tilt the iron forwards. Using the jug provided fill the water tank up to the Max fill line. Select the Max temperature using the temperature control dial. Select NO steam on steam control by moving steam control to the left. Plug into mains, the heater indicator light will illuminate. When the selected Max temperature has been reached the light will go out. Unplug the appliance from the mains. Move the hot iron over a piece of used cloth to remove any water stains/impurities from the soleplate. Allow the iron to completely cool down in a safe place before emptying the water tank and storing.

What to do if it goes wrong Getting in touch Problem Solution The iron has no power. The plug may not be fully pushed into the electrical socket. Check the fuse in the plug. If this needs replacing, always use a British 13amp fuse. Why is the iron not producing steam? There may be no water in water tank, fill the water tank. The temperature control dial or steam control has not been set to the appropriate settings. Go to Preparing for use. The iron has a build up of limescale, Go to Cleaning and maintenance self clean. Why is the steam boost not working? The steam boost button has been pressed too often within a short period. Continue ironing in a horizontal position, after a short period of time use the boost button again. The temperature control dial has not been set at a temperature the steam boost function can be used ( to Max). Stand the iron in the upright position, adjust the control dial and wait for the heating indicator light to go out before using the steam boost. Why is the spray burst not working? The water tank is not full enough. Unplug the iron from the mains and add water to the water tank. Water is leaking from the iron. The water fill cover is not correctly closed. Close the water fill cover. The steam boost button has been pressed with the control dial set at the incorrect temperature. The steam boost function can be used ( to Max). Excessive use of the steam burst button can reduce the temperature of the soleplate temporarily meaning that it will need to heat up again. If this happens the water may potentially pool in the boiler. Registration required. Terms and conditions apply, see vax.co.uk for details. * Calls are charged at the UK local rate. Please make a note of the serial number and model number of the appliance before calling.
