Bringing Brands to Life A redevelopment project provides an opportunity to add value and improve the experience and engagement of visitors. At Federation s Cranbourne Park architects i2c created an iconic statement of identity that firmly establishes the centre s brand presence. The heart of the idea was to create a wave of movement via the application of a ribbon facade onto an otherwise flat wall. Diadem worked closely with i2c and Hacer to undertake design development and construction management of the facade that comprised hundreds of green vertical fins reaching to a height of 9 metres in places. The components were manufactured in approximately 140 modules, with each one fixed to an existing support structure. To ensure that the design intent was realised, Diadem produced detailed parametric CAD drawings and modeling of each individual module comprised of an average of 10 vertical pieces. Diadem coordinated a prototype process to refine the design and ensure the final solution was elegant and matched the original design philosophy. 10 Diadem

As part of the technical expertise offered, Diadem undertook a 3D scan of the car park external wall structure to get an accurate understanding of the existing conditions. We meshed together data from the 3D scans with a CAD model of areas yet to be built to glean an accurate understanding of the final form of the facade. This design-construct process reduced time and ensured the manufactured components of the ribbon facade were seamlessly integrated into the base building. Diadem 13
QV Corner Feature Client Dexus Property Group Creative Latitude Tricky Engineering Accomplishment The striking corner canopy at QV Melbourne acts as a strong identity statement and is a perfect example of the intersection of branding and architecture. Diadem developed the corner canopy concept to turn this faceted design into a workable architectural feature. 3D modelling and industrial design ensured that the design intent was realised to the client s satisfaction. Diadem provided an integrated project solution that combined design and project management with construction and installation of the built form. 14 Diadem

Art and Activation The feature sculpture is a beautiful interpretive installation spanning 4 interior levels wrapped by a magnificent spiral staircase. The installation is constructed from 18 translucent graphic layers that float effortlessly in the space, conveying a sense of lightness. Abseiling installers dangled into the space to hang each piece into place. The light and shadows cast by the piece changes according to the time of day or night, creating movement through the space. 16 Diadem

Positive Experience Through Activation The Big Time installation project combined design innovation with manufacturing and engineering smarts. Diadem coordinated all works from design development through to installation including extensive prototyping of the inflated PVC objects carried out in New Zealand. Structural integrity of the finished PVC objects was a key factor as was the high-gloss paint finish, giving the impression of large scale balloons. 20 Diadem

A robust process of specification, engineering and prototyping preceded the procurement and implementation stage of the project with the goal of delivering on brand consistency. Diadem supervised the production of prototypes carried out in both Australia and China. Three different design ideas have been completed - the large crosses installation in Sydney s west, the kinetic grasses in Auckland and the giant arch installation in Sydney and Pudong, China. The overall result is a stunning and bold brand expression that firmly places Goodman at the forefront of their industry. Further installations are planned for the future. 34 Diadem

We operate in the real world where people interact and engage with branded spaces. The Channel 7 sculpture in the Docklands precinct of Melbourne is a strong placemaking device that heralds arrival and contributes to the creation of an active sports precinct. Diadem worked with the creative team to ensure the animated ribbon effect of the logo device was interpreted correctly. Testing specialty metallic paint finishes to create changing colour effects was a major element of the project. Diadem delivered the project as a head contractor responsible for design development, council approval, supply and installation. 38 Diadem
