Welcome to Our Neighborhood Atlanta Habitat for Humanity presents, Welcome to Our Neighborhood, an inaugural fundraising gala to support our expanded mission to be a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization. about Atlanta Habitat Atlanta Habitat for Humanity transforms communities by acting as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization through education, innovative development, partnerships and long-term relationships with families. Since 1983, we have built, renovated and repaired approximately 1,400 houses across Atlanta. We have steadily grown to become one of the top 10 Habitat for Humanity International affiliates in the United States. We expanded our mission in 2015 to make a greater impact on working families and to provide quality, affordable homeownership options in Atlanta s changing neighborhoods. Revitalizes Communities We are igniting transformative neighborhood revitalization. In 2016, Atlanta Habitat embarked on improving neighborhoods, block-by-block. We now purchase boarded up or dilapidated properties that may neighbor our new homeowners and renovate them with Atlanta Habitat quality materials and energy efficient standards. These like new homes are additional home purchase options for future Atlanta Habitat homebuyers. Atlanta Habitat is elated to build on Atlanta s Westside again. For the first time since 2009, we have two new Atlanta Habitat home-buyers ready to invest in the Westside this year. As we make these new investments, we work with longstanding homeowners through our critical home repair program, repair with Kindness. RWK helps homeowners to keep their homes, safe, dry and accessible. Atlanta s historic westside communities and U.S. military veterans are currently the focus for this program. Empowers Families Atlanta Habitat empowers families to achieve social mobility that will impact children and the next generation of homeowners. Our homebuyers meet strict requirements to qualify for a 30-year, zero-interest mortgage. They also complete 250 sweat-equity hours that include building their home, and education classes on home management, financing and budgeting. We also go beyond the build with our homeowners.
