INSTRUCTIONS AND WARRANTY MODEL NO. SWC 030 PORTABLE AIRCOOLER AND PURIFIER

Thank you for purchasing our SALTON Portable Air-cooler. Please read the instructions carefully before using and keep safe for future reference. The following instructions will allow you to use this product to its maximum performance. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using your SALTON Air-Cooler, basic pre-cautions should always be followed including the following: Make sure that the power used corresponds to the one indicated on the rating label. Only use the air-cooler for its intended use as described in this instruction manual. Do cover the air-cooler Do not immerse the unit, plug or power cord in water or allow any liquid to come into contact with any part of the fan. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Unplug the cooler from the power supply when: not in use; when moving it from one location to another; before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning. Avoid coming into contact with any moving parts. To avoid vibration, place the air-cooler on a smooth level surface. Never operate the air-cooler with a damaged power cord or plug or after it has fallen or been damaged in any way. Do not allow objects to fall into the openings and do not insert objects through the guard when the air-cooler is in operation. Do not use outdoors. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter or to touch hot surfaces. Do not block air circulation. To disconnect, grip the plug and pull from the wall outlet. Never unplug by pulling on the power cord. Do not put heavy objects on top of the machine. Do not try to over extend or stretch the mains cable. Unplug the air-cooler when not in use. Never attempt to open any part or dismantle the controls. Responsibility for failure cannot be accepted if these instructions have been ignored and the warranty will become invalid. This product is intended for household use only. Industrial or commercial use invalidates the warranty. 2

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The product you have purchased is an air-cooler. This room sized evaporative cooler is suitable for warm climate and relatively low humidity areas. HINTS FOR BETTER COOLING Your air-cooler requires a supply of ventilation. Place the air-cooler near an open window on the shady side of your room. (Or leave the door to the room open). As an addition to cooling a place, place the air-cooler near the doorway. The aircooler will draw cool air in from other parts of the house and bring the temperature down further. Start your air-cooler when the room is still cool. You may leave it running all day and still save money due to the lower power consumption. You will find that this system works best and keeps the room cool. Please ensure that there is always water in the cooler. PARTS DIAGRAM 3

CONTROL PANEL FILLING THE AIR COOLER Ensure that the drainage plug at the base of the cooler is firmly in place. Lift up the top cover of the unit Pour water into the small compartment until the water level is between Max and Low as viewed through the window of the water level indicator situated in the lower right corner of the front panel of the cooler Note: Do not overfill the reservoir of the water tank because water could spill over the sides of the tank and into the cooler operational mechanisms. Do not use HOT water. For extra cooling, place ice cubes into the large compartment and close the cover. Switch the air-cooler to ON. Please take care when moving the cooler while it contains water to avoid the cooler leaking. Note: Only use ice cubes when the cooler is set to COOL for an icy breeze. The indicator light will reflect Icy Breeze on the control panel. WATER CONSUMPTION The water consumption rate of the air-cooler varies depending on how hot it is and how much humidity is in the air. On a day with relatively low humidity and high temperature, a full reservoir of water can last more than 12 hours with the minimum of 10 hours On average you will need to fill the air-cooler at-least once a day. 4

OPERATING YOUR AIRCOOLER Place your air-cooler on a smooth, level surface. Fill the air-cooler as per the instructions above. Note For a cooler environment, we recommend that ice be added at this point to the large compartment. Plug the air-cooler into a mains outlet ensuring that the power supply used matches that indicated on the rating label. Select the desired fan speed using the control panel or the remote control. An indictor light will reflect the chosen fan speed. o Three fan speed options exist Low, Medium and High Select the WIND function on the control panel. The airflow will oscillate from left to right as the vertical louvres swing from side to side. To direct the airflow up or down, the front, horizontal louvres need to be adjusted manually. To activate the negative ion generator at the air outlet window, press the ANION button. This will improve the quality of the air being emitted. Note Do not use any type of perfume, air fresheners, disinfectants or similar products in the air-cooler. This appliance is to be used with water ONLY. TIMER FUNCTION There are four positions available on the control panel: 1. 0.5H - Half an hour 2. 1H - One hour 3. 2H - Two hours 4. 4H - Four hours Each time the Timer button is pressed, the time increases in 0.5hr increments up to a total time of 7.5hr. The total time selected will be the sum of the time indicated by the lights. The various times can be selected by pressing the Timer button on the control panel or by using the remote control. Your unit will automatically switch off once the chosen time has elapsed. If no time is selected, the unit will continue operating until switched off. REMOTE CONTROL The remote control buttons work the same way as the control panel on the unit. 5

Remove the cover on the back of the remote. Insert two x AAA batteries into the remote, ensuring the polarity of the batteries matches the markings in the remote. Replace the cover back on the remote. IMPORTANT NOTES The range of the remote control is 5 metres. Batteries are not included and need to be inserted into the remote control before use. The remote control must be pointed directly at the air-cooler for it to function effectively. Do not obstruct the air outlet in any way when the unit is in operation. The unit is to be used indoors only. Please ensure that the power mains is earthed to ensure the safety and reliability of the air-cooler The filter must be cleaned every 20-30 days of operation if in continuous use, to ensure optimum performance. Refer instructions on Cleaning the Air-Cooler. CLEANING THE AIR-COOLER The filter is assembled when the unit is manufactured, but will need to be cleaned on a regular basis. To do this: 1. Unscrew the screw on the filter 2. Pull the filter frame upwards until it is released from the unit 3. Take the filter out from the filter frame. Tap the filter gently with a feather duster or other soft object to release the dust. Should the filter be very dirty, dip it into a mix of natural detergent and water, and wash it. Rinse it in fresh clean water and allow to dry. 4. Place the filter back into the filter frame and slide the frame into the unit. Replace the screw on the filter. CLEANING THE WATER RESERVOIR Always wash out the water reservoir whenever you clean the filter. Drain the water tank and leave the drainage plug out during the cleaning process Scrub the inside of the water reservoir with a soft household cleaning brush. Please note that you should use baking soda or a de-scaler to clean the reservoir. After scrubbing with baking powder or de-scaler, rinse the water tank with clean water. Tighten the drainage plug back into place. Note: If there is an odor in the water reservoir, we recommend that you use half a teaspoon of bleach in the water and repeat this process every two weeks or as needed. Important: Please ensure that the plug is fitted securely to prevent water leaking from the base of the air-cooler. 6
