2 Ideal for cleaning surgical, medical, dental instruments and equipment. Available in various sizes. Before placing instruments into the Ultrasonic Cleaner a degas cycle should be run. Then a clinical detergent should be added. e.g. Clinidet
3 Advantages of Ultrasonic Cleaning Cavitations (micro bubbles) are extremely small & penetrate into areas too small for the bristles of a brush. Ultrasonic cleaning is fast, achieving a better cleaning job in a fraction of the time required by other methods. Ultrasonic cleaning will not damage even the most delicate instruments. Comparative rates of soil removal Spray 14% Immersion 30% Vapor Degreasing 35% Brushing 92% Ultrasonic 99% Please Note This shows how effective ultrasonic cleaning can be compared to other more commonly known cleaning systems.
ULTRASONIC CLEANING PROTOCOL 4 1. Add detergent to the full tank of warm water. (Remember to De-gas the water prior adding instruments.) 2. Rinse visible contamination off instruments under warm running water NOT hot (rinse as soon as possible after use) 3. Place open or dismantle instruments into basket and immerse in warm detergent solution. NOT hot water - it will set organic matter onto the surface 4. Run the machine for the recommended time. 5. Remove basket & rinse clean in warm/hot running water.(hot water is preferable at this stage) 6. Inspect for cleanliness. 7. Dry in a cabinet or with a lint free cloth before packaging. Wipe or shake off excess water if not packaging before sterilising.
5 Please Note: It is important to change the detergent solution regularly throughout the day so as to ensure adequate cleaning & to prevent redeposition of soil and the growth of microorganisms.
ULTRASONIC CLEANERS - HOW THEY WORK 6 Extremely high pitched sound waves generated by the transducers pass through the detergent solution causing the alternating formation and implosion of microscopic Bubbles (Cavitations) which blast soil & debris off instruments.
7 PERFORMANCE TEST The test process outlined on the following slides is designed to monitor the efficiency levels of an ultrasonic cleaner using aluminium foil. The aluminium foil test is a procedure that Unisonics and many healthcare institutions have been using for over 20 years. This alfoil test gives an accurate assessment of the cleaners performances, is economical and is as per the requirements of AS/ NZS4815-2006.
8 Alfoil Test: PERFORMANCE TEST 1. Cut a section of aluminium foil the length and depth of the ultrasonic tank. 2. Immerse the section of aluminium foil into the water lengthways and in a vertical position. 3. The foil must not contact the bottom of the tank and be left for a duration of approx 10 20 seconds. 4. A consistent pattern of perforation or grooves should result with the hole sizes varying from one to four mm in diameter. 5. Foil can be purchased from any supermarket (0.025 mm)
9 Please note: In large ultrasonic cleaners more than one piece of foil may be immersed. The Alfoil test should be done at the beginning of the day. The water should be changed prior to the cleaning of instruments, as the solution left is foil contaminated.
10 PERFORMANCE TEST! Aluminum foil should extend well clear of the ultrasonic bath Perforations in the aluminum sheet indicate a positive test result
