Arm and Disarm Your Alarm Click on Alarm Control, found under the Alarm System tab. The Alarm Control screen allows you to view the current status of your alarm system, as if you were physically in front of your alarm panel. You can use this screen to Arm to away mode--this arms internal sensors or motion detectors, if they are present, so you should select this when no one will be inside the building. Arm to stay mode--this arms the external perimeter of the building, but not the internal sensors or motion detectors. You should select this when someone will be inside the building. Disarm all sensors. The alarm will not trigger when this state is selected. The intrusion alarm will not trigger when this state is selected. Life safety devices, such as smoke detectors, panic buttons, and CO detectors, are still active while this state is selected. 3

Intro to Device Control Controlling your home using the JAQX system is simple. Under the Home Automation tab, click on Device Control. The first screen in this section opens with shows you all the devices that are currently on the system. The center area shows all active devices and the actions that can be taken with each device. The device menu allows the different devices to be sorted by type (all the lights, all the appliances, etc.) Before you can enjoy the full benefits of your new JAQX system, you need to connect a few devices to it. 4

Add a New Device Adding a new device to the JAQX system is simple. 1. Click on the Setup tab in the upper right-hand corner of the main menu. 2. Plug in your new device and make sure it is powered up. 3. Click Add a Device in the left-hand menu. 4. Wait for the Ready button to turn from black to blue. 5

Add a New Device 5. On the new device, press the Bind button. 6. The device will now connect to the system. Repeat steps 2-5 if necessary. 7. Click on the Device Control button to view the list and control your device. Your device is now ready to use via the website or your mobile app, and will appear in the list of active devices. 6

Mobile App Install & Setup The JAQX system is extremely powerful. Using the app on your iphone, ipad, or Android device lets you do the following: Control your alarm Activate and deactivate notifications View a history of your alarm events Contact central monitoring and support from within the app Additionally, if you have the correct services activated, you can: View live and archived video Control your lights and appliances Manage your thermostat Monitor your home s energy use Lock and unlock your doors Activate Scenes, so multiple, customized actions can be triggered with a single button Contact JAQX for more information on these and other lifestyle services. 7

Getting Started with the Mobile App Once you have accepted the Terms and Conditions agreement for the JAQX service, which appears the first time you log into the website, you can install the app and enjoy the service via your iphone, ipad, or Android device. Download and install JAQX from itunes or Google Play. Launch the app, tap the application icon on the launch screen of your device. Your user name and password The user name and password required to access your mobile app are the same username and password that you use to access the JAQX web portal. If you can t remember your user name and password, you can use a web browser to retrieve it on the login screen for the JAQX web portal. Nearly all the abilities of your JAQX app are accessed through the Main Menu. Each icon controls an aspect of your smart home or provides you with information. Getting around within the app is simple. As you explore, keep in mind that you ll always be able to return to the main screen by touching the Back button in the upper left-hand corner. Also, when you leave the main page, a tab navigation bar appears at the bottom of the screen. A brief explanation of each icon on the main menu will follow. You can instantly see the status of your Alarm System in the center area at the top of the screen. You ll see the current status from nearly every screen in the JAQX app. Touching this status takes you to the Alarm System screen, where you can arm your system with a single touch and disarm your system by entering the same code you use on your alarm panel. 8

First Screen Activity from your system include alarm alerts and notifications of activity, such as arming, disarming, trouble, and alarm events. Video gives access to the cameras already connected to your system. This screen opens on a still-frame snapshot of a single view-you need to tap on it to enjoy streaming video and audio from this camera. We ll discuss this further in Controlling your Video section, below. Scenes, the middle icon on the main screen, gives access to the powerful, customized capabilities of your system. If you have personalized your system by setting multiple home automation events to occur together upon a single, triggering event, then all of those scenes are accessible here. Scenes are created and edited using the SiteControl Interactive web portal as soon as you create a new scene, it will be accessible in the mobile app. Other icons on the Main Screen allow you to control the Lights & Appliances, Thermostat, other Z-wave Devices, and Locks which are already added to your system via the SiteControl Interactive web portal again, just as with your Scenes, when you add a new Z-wave device to your home automation system, control of that device will be available immediately via the mobile app. Settings allows you to activate your Auto-login, choose your Video Mode, and manage which Notifications you receive. The settings screen is also your resource to Detect Cameras on your system and manage them. Z-wave devices can be discovered, added, or removed from this screen. The Optimize Network feature at the bottom-left of the screen allows you to manually refresh the entire Z-wave network within your home. The system will do this automatically, but occasionally a home owner may feel the desire to do this manually. A Z-wave network may need to be optimized after a nearby lightning strike or power outage, for instance. This will help the network run more quickly and efficiently. 10

Controlling Your Alarm System You can arm and disarm your security system from the Alarm System screen. The current status of your alarm is shown in the upper portion of the screen. Touching Arm Away or Arm Stay will activate your alarm. The alarm system will begin its normal exit countdown, at the end of which time the system will be armed. If your alarm is active and you want to disarm it, you can enter your alarm code directly in the lower section of the screen. Note that the current status of your alarm is always shown in the center area at the top of every screen, except when video is being displayed. If notifications are active on your system, you will receive messages via the JAQX app when your system is armed and disarmed. A complete history of all events is always available to you in the Activity section of the app. 13

Watching Video The first screen in the Video section of the app shows screenshots of the most recent live video sessions watched on your device. One screen-shot is shown for each camera on the system. Touching a screen-shot will launch the in-device video player and begin streaming video and audio from that camera. Touching Add to Multiview in the lower right-hand corner of the screen allows more than one video stream to be viewed on the same screen. To watch multiple video streams, add the camera views you want to watch and then touch Connect. Watching Streaming Video Both video and audio will stream over a live connection. While live video is playing, the app switches to landscape mode and provides additional controls, described below. The quality and resolution of the video can be set on the JAQX web portal. Video Controls Touching the Back symbol in the lower left-hand corner of the screen will end the video session and return the viewer to the main Live Video section of the app. The name of the camera capturing the video is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Touching the Scenes icon, to the right of the camera name, brings up a transparent list of all available Scenes on the system. Touching the Camera icon will take a screen-shot and store it for later viewing on the system. The screen-shot is available via the web portal or the Video Archive section of the mobile app. If the camera is capable of additional functions (such as pan-and-zoom), controls for these features will also be available on-screen, in the bottom-right area of the control bar. 14
