5spanner Smoke Tube Exhaust Gas Boilers This range of vertical or horizontal exhaust gas boilers provide an alternative to the water tube design depending upon individual preference. With its own water and steam space, its own feed pump and with natural circulation there is no requirement for circulative pumps. This means it can work independently of the ships auxiliary boiler, a useful feature during enforced maintenance of the auxiliary boiler at sea. The units can also incorporate multi engine applications within the same shell. Alternatively if preferred this design of unit can be arranged fully flooded and work in conjunction with the Oil Fired Boiler utilising circulating pumps in a conventional manner. Spanner exhaust gas boiler with integral bypass for steam output control Composite Boilers The Spanner composite boiler range combines the features of the side fired, down fired and horizontal oil fired boilers with the Spanner exhaust gas boiler. This combination saves valuable space particularly on the smaller tonnage vessels. The gas passes of each section are arranged separately, in accordance with classification requirements, and contained in one shell with common water and steam space. Thus during periods at sea when there is a short-fall in engine power, the oil fired section can automatically start up and supplement steam production. The units can accommodate multiple engine applications.
Water Tube Oil Fired Package Boiler The Spanner vertical water tube boiler is of all welded robust construction arranged for down firing. The cylindrical combustion chamber is fully water cooled utilising water wall tubes in a tangent tube arrangement. For Cruise ship application the upper steam drum can be enlarged to accept steam from the multiple exhaust gas economisers. Steam outputs range from: 6000 to 50,000 kg/h at pressures up to 21 bar. 6spanner
7system analysis Services Heating Steam The simplest form of Diesecon exhaust gas boiler consists of a steam generator section only, producing saturated steam for the ships engine room consumers. Water is circulated from the Spanner boiler through the steam generator section and then returned as water/steam mixture at saturation temperature. It is generally accepted and more economical to utilise the auxiliary boiler steam space for steam separation but a separate steam receiver can be supplied if required.
Power Generation With Two Pressure Systems With increased efficiency diesel engines and resulting reduced exhaust gas temperatures maximum waste heat recovery including turbo generator is currently being achieved with two pressure systems. The inclusion of a low pressure evaporation section with a corresponding lower saturation temperature enables more heat being extracted from waste gases resulting in a lower gas exit temperature than obtainable from the single pressure system. The higher pressure steam provides for the ships heating consumers and after superheating is passed along with the low pressure steam through the two pressure turbo generator to meet the ships electrical requirements at sea. Additional low grade heat can be utilised within the system from charge air coolers and jacket water cooling. 8system analysis
9diesecon Greens Diesecon was developed and introduced in the fifties to utilise waste heat recovery from the increasingly popular diesel engine. Based on the long experience of manufacturing economisers for steam turbine propulsion boilers Diesecon soon became the world leader and has kept its reputation for reliability and efficient performance. The steel H extended surface tubes ensure a compact unit and the parallel fin in line arrangement provides for good gas velocities and effective cleaning. Rugged all welded casings are designed to withstand pressures associated with diesel engine exhausts. Every Diesecon unit is individually designed from specified exhaust gas data, to satisfy a particular steam demand, from main and auxiliary diesel engines. Where required units can incorporate gas division plates for multiple engine applications. Steam output control is available from an integral gas bypass and damper arrangement with automatic operation in accordance with classification requirements for unmanned machinery spaces.
ESD Range The ESD boiler (External Superheater D Type) was first introduced in a cargo liner in 1949. Since then several hundred have been installed in very large Tankers and fast Container ships, requiring long periods of operation at sea with minimum maintenance. The furnace is designed for roof firing to obtain the required long flame path and high boiler outputs. A Greens Power economiser is included to maximise heat recovery which accounts for approximately 75% of the total generating surface. Currently the main application is for LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) carrier new buildings where there is the necessity to burn the natural boil off gas in the boilers or oil or a combination of both. ESD range There are two boilers per vessel from 36 to 65t/h at 62 bars, however the range extends up to 220t/h should there be a future need for larger carriers. Our range of ESD boilers is offered through a number of licencees. F.P.S.O. Vessels Greens Power have the facilities to offer design engineering for any floating, production, storage and offloading (F.P.S.O.) vessel conversion from older tanker tonnage, requiring conversion of existing Bi-drum boilers. When new tonnage is being considered Greens product range is able to meet the requirements for fired boilers and waste heat recovery from gas turbine installations 10
