Please refer to the enclosed collection calendar or visit www.winchester.gov.uk/bins Householders are responsible for providing and maintaining their refuse and recycling bins and replacing them if worn out, damaged, vandalised, lost or stolen. New residents will need to purchase these bins if there are none on site. If the property is a new build you will need to ask the builder if they will be purchasing containers, if not you will need to purchase them yourself. You can do this by contacting customer services on 0300 300 0013. Putting your bin out for collection Please put the appropriate container at the edge of your property boundary, not blocking the pavement, by 7am on the day of collection and return your bin to your property for storage as soon as possible once emptied. To help our collection teams return bins to the correct properties please make sure your bin is clearly marked with your house number or name. There is a recycling bin sticker enclosed with this pack. Missed Bins If your collection is missed please contact customer services on 0300 300 0013 by 12 midday the working day following your collection. Regrettably we will be unable to return if a report is received after this deadline.
Assisted Collections If you have difficulty in moving your bin and struggle to put it out we may be able to help you with an assisted collection. Each application will be assessed individually. Seasonal Collections and Bank Holidays Recycling and waste collections that fall on a Bank Holiday Monday will be collected a day later that same week. Collections that fall on Good Friday will be collected as normal. Special arrangements are made for collections over the Christmas period. Please refer to your collection calendar. Bulky Waste We cannot collect large items placed in or next to your bin or in your bin store if you share communal bins. Our contractor, Biffa, provides a chargeable bulky waste collection service for large household items such as sofas, beds and fridges. Garden waste collections (EHDC) The garden waste service will be suspended over Christmas and New Year so that the resources can be used to assist the refuse vehicles during this busy period. Your last garden waste collection will be 13 th December 2016 and will recommence on 10 th January 2017. Garden waste customers If you have a licence for our garden waste service we can collect your real Christmas tree. Please remove from the pot and strip the tree of all decorations and tinsel. Place the tree by your garden waste bin/sack on 10 th January 2017.
