Safety Instructions WARNING To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following: READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS DANGER To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself. Return the appliance to your retailer or discard the appliance. If the appliance falls into the water, or water drips onto the unit, DON T reach for it! First unplug it and then retrieve it. If electrical components of the appliance get wet, unplug the appliance immediately. Always unplug appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug fully and pull out to disconnect. Carefully examine the appliance after replacement. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. If you are using the ultraviolet sterilizer or heater upgrade do not operate the unit without continual water flow. If you are using the heater option ensure that the heater is plugged into the thermostat that is supplied with the water chiller. Exposing chiller/power cords to water may cause electrical short and fire. Do not allow water or salt to come in contact with thermostat or power cords. Do not operate chiller without water flow to the unit. This may cause the evaporator housing to freeze up and result in damage to the unit. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER PROTECTION To comply with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), and to provide additional protection from the risk of shock, this unit MUST be connected to a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlet at all times. Do not use extension cords. WARNING To reduce the risk of electrocution, keep all connections dry and off the ground. Do not touch plug with wet hands.

Chiller installation Pre-Installation Before removing your Prime Chiller from the box, please note any exterior shipping damage to the box. It is strongly recommended to keep the box and packaging material in the unlikely event there is shipping damage or service is required. Remove the chiller from the box and inspect thoroughly for any signs of damage, even if the box does not show damage. If you notice any damage (cracked or bent cover, damaged condenser fins, etc.) please stop and contact your dealer immediately. Installation 1. Remove accessories and plumbing fittings for inlet and outlet. 2. Slide chiller from box and inspect for damages. 3. Place chiller in desired location. Make sure the chiller is placed on a firm, level surface in a location that has plenty of ventilation and will not be exposed to salt or saltwater. The requirements for ventilation are: a) Back/Sides: Condenser (radiator) requires at least 24 clearance to allow air into the chiller. b) Front: Requires at least 24 clearance to allow for proper air flow. c) Chiller must not be placed in a closed closet or cabinet. d) The warm air from the chiller must be completely evacuated from the chiller location. A fan may be necessary to draw warm air away from the chiller. The maximum operating temperature is 95 F. 4. Assemble the water inlet and outlet to the chiller. Ensure the seal ring is properly seated. 5. Connect external flexible hoses to the inlet and outlet. After connecting hoses, tighten the metal screw clamps to ensures hoses do not disconnect when in use. 6. Before turning on chiller, ensure the following: a) Flow water through the chiller for approximately 30 minutes to ensure there is no water leakage. b) Make sure the pump will operate normally without any blockage. c) Make sure the chiller is plugged into a GFCI protected 110V power outlet. 7. Set the temperature controller to the desired temperature as instructed next.

programming thermostat CHILLER TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT 1. Plug the chiller into the GFCI protected outlet. The power switch will come on and the digital controller will display the actual water temperature. The POWER light will illuminate. 2. Press SET button - temperature will start blinking. Press the up or down button to change the temperature to the desire setpoint. The default temperature differential is 2 F, therefore the chiller will begin to operate at a temperature that is 2 F less than the actual water temperature. 3. The digital display will resume showing the water temperature after a 5 second delay. The chiller will then enter a delayed start-up mode, which lasts 2-3 minutes, after which will begin normal operation. 4. If your chiller reads a water temperature different from a thermometer that you trust (or prefer), it is possible to calibrate the sensor. a) Press SET for ten seconds. The number 0 will jump on the digital display indicating that the adjusting function is in a ready state. b) Press the up or down arrpw key from 0 to 5 F or down to -5 F to calibrate and match the desired temperature. to adjust the starting temperature differential. 5. When chiller is in operation, the COOL mode light will illuminate. 6. The differential setting (temperature flucuation between the set point when the chiller is activated) is set by default at 2 F (an aquarium set for 77 F will to up to 79 F before the chiller is activated.) It is possible to increase the differential setting to 3-4 F if desired. To change the differential setting, peform the same steps above in #4 to access the calibration mode. once in calibration mode, press the "SET" button to access the Differential Mode, F2 should appear. Press the up button to increase the differential to F3 or F4. Heater control system 1. The Prime 1/10th HP chiller features a back heater port that allows any 110V submersible aquarium heater up to 300 watts to be controlled by the chillers temperature controller. It is recommended to set both the temperature controller on the heater and on the chiller to the same temperature. 2. Install the submersible heater into the sump or aquarium. Ensure that a drip loop is in place so that water cannot drip into the heater port. 3. Plug the heater into the port on the back of the chiller. The default temperature differential is 2 F, therefore the heater will begin to operate at a temperature that is 2 F lower than the set water temperature. 4. When heater is operating, the HEAT mode light will illuminate.
