Under the Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme, PUB has embarked on a journey to harness the full potential of our waters by integrating them with our environment. Over the past 10 years, other public agencies and private developers have also embraced the ABC Waters Design concept that leads to improvement in water quality, enhanced biodiversity and new recreational space for people to get closer to water. To build up the expertise of industry professionals in ABC Waters design features, the ABC Waters Professional Programme was launched in September 2011. Comprising four core modules and four elective modules, the programme covers the concepts, design, implementation and maintenance of ABC Waters design features. Participants who complete all four core modules plus any two elective modules and meet the registration criteria of IES/SIA/SILA, would be eligible to be registered as an ABC Waters Professional. Details on the registration criteria can be found at the websites of IES, SIA and SILA. Participants who complete any single module would receive certificate of attendance for the module completed.

ABC Waters Professionals Workshop is a series of workshops aim to serve as a platform to propagate and advance the knowledge and experience in ABC Waters design and sustainable stormwater management through sharing of ABC Waters projects, case studies and pilot projects, R&D projects, exemplary private and public projects etc. The workshops also aim to inspire professionals to adopt ABC Waters design concepts in the architectural, drainage and landscape design of their projects, thus contributing to catchment-wide implementation of such concept in Singapore.

ABC WATERS PROFESSIONALS WORKSHOP ONE (1) Outline About PUB s ABC Waters Programme The ABC Waters Programme was launched by PUB in 2006 to transform Singapore s water bodies beyond their utilitarian purpose into beautiful and clean streams, rivers and lakes, creating a vibrant City of Gardens and Water. To date, 32 ABC Waters projects have been completed. ABC WATERS @ KALLANG RIVER (POTONG PASIR) A 400-metre stretch of the Kallang River between Potong Pasir Avenue 1 and St. Andrew s Junior School, has been transformed into a colourful, vibrant and aesthetically-pleasing waterway with new community spaces for residents and students to enjoy. The project is officially opened on Sunday, 12 July 2015 by Adviser for Potong Pasir SMC Mr Sitoh Yih Pin. The key features of the project are: Three Rain Gardens that detain and treat rainwater runoff using specially-selected plants and a filter media (soil layer) before it is discharged into the river Five Vegetated Swales that serve as natural drainage channels that remove soil particles while conveying rainwater An Open Plaza (capacity of about 750 people) with two shelters ideal for community events and outdoor learning Four lookout decks for the community to get closer to water New seats along the waterfront for park users to enjoy the scenery Wateredge planting and landscaping For Whom This course is suitable for ABC waters professionals, QECPs as well as Architects, Engineers and Landscape Architects to attend.
