Wall Air Water Trap Kit For 800 Series Ventilator Overview This document provides instructions for installing the wall air water trap to the Puritan Bennett 800 Series Ventilators. Verify Kit Contents Verify that the wall air water trap kit contains all the parts listed in Table 1. Table 1. Safety Information To ensure proper servicing and avoid the possibility of physical injury, only qualified personnel should attempt to service the ventilator, perform installations, or make modifications to the ventilator that are authorized by Covidien. These installation instructions are intended for use by certified biomedical technicians or personnel with the equivalent experience and training in servicing this type of equipment. It is recommended that the user complete the Covidien training class geared specifically to this equipment. To avoid an electrical shock hazard while servicing the ventilator, be sure to remove all power to the ventilator by turning off all ventilator power switches and disconnecting the power source. For safety purposes, lock the cart s front casters prior to installing the wall air water trap. 2 Installation Instruction
Tools Needed Socket wrench, 3/16-in. Allen Wrench, adjustable Screwdriver Phillips Teflon tape 800 Series Ventilator System Service Manual (p/n 4-070496-00) Bracket Installation Instructions 1. Loosen two captive screws at rear of backup power supply (BPS). Slide BPS forward to allow clearance for installing bracket. 2. Install bracket to cart, referring to Figure 1. 1 2 3 4 Figure 1. Wrap Teflon tape around NPT threads of inlet fitting. b. Screw fitting into IN port of water trap. c. Tighten fitting with adjustable wrench. 4. Place water trap assembly into bracket installed on cart. Orient water trap fittings as shown in Figure 2. 5. Attach one end of short (27-in. or 0.69-m) hose to outlet fitting of water trap and other end to ventilator s air inlet connector. 6. Connect dump tube to water trap drain fitting. Attach one end of long (10-ft or 3.05-m) hose to inlet fitting of water trap and other end to wall air source. 8. Inspect connections of fitting and hoses for air leakage. 9. Run ventilator extended self test (EST), as described in the Service Manual. Note Due to the additional pressure drop of the water trap and hoses, a minimum supply pressure of 40 psi (275 kpa) is required. 4 Installation Instruction
