Meters shll be instlled in ccordnce with the requirements of the Interntionl Plumbing Code. For the purposes of Section 601.2.1 (IgCC 701.2.1), ech meter identified in Tble 601.2.1 (IgCC Tble 701.2.1) shll be cpble of communicting wter consumption dt remotely nd t minimum, be cpble of providing dily dt with electronic dt storge nd reporting cpbility tht cn produce reports tht show dily, monthly, nd nnul wter consumption. Exception: Fire sprinkler systems instlled in ccordnce with Section (IFC 90.) shll not be required to be metered. 601.2.1 (IgCC 701.2.1) Individul metering required. All potble nd nonpotble wter supplied to the pplictions listed in Tble 601.2.1 (IgCC Tble 701.2.1) shll be individully metered in ccordnce with the requirements indicted in Tble 601.2.1 (IgCC Tble 701.2.1). Similr pplinces nd equipment shll be permitted to be grouped nd supplied from piping connected to single meter. Exception: In Group I-2 occupncies nd mbultory cre fcilities, wter used for ptient tretment or to support ptient cre shll not be required to be individully metered. SECTION 602 (IgCC 702) FIXTURES, FITTINGS, EQUIPMENT AND APPLIANCES 602.1 (IgCC 702.1) Fitting nd fixture consumption. Fixtures shll comply with Tble 602.1 (IgCC Tble 702.1) nd the following: 1. For dwelling unit nd guestroom shower comprtments with floor re of not greter thn 2600 in 2 (1.7 m 2 ), the combined flow rte from shower wter outlets tht re cpble of operting simultneously including rin systems, wterflls, body sprys nd jets shll not exceed 2.0 gllons per minute (gpm) (7.6 L/min). Stem boilers The mkeup wter supply line to stem boilers nticipted to drw more thn 100,000 gllons nnully or hving rting of 500,000 Btu/h or greter shll be metered. Industril processes Industril processes consuming more thn 1,000 gllons per dy on verge shll be metered individully. Evportive coolers Evportive coolers supplying in excess of 0.6 gllons per minute, on verge, mkeup wter shll be metered. Fluid coolers nd chillers Wter-cooled fluid coolers nd chillers tht do not utilize closed-loop recircultion shll be metered. Mkeup wter for closed loop systems such s chilled wter nd hydronic systems Roof spry systems Mkeup wter supplying systems of 50 tons of cooling cpcity or 500,000 Btu/h of heting cpcity shll be metered. Roof spry systems for irrigting vegetted roofs or therml conditioning shll be metered. Clothes wshers of the type in the ENERGY STAR progrm s defined in ENERGY STAR Progrm Requirements, Product Specifiction for Clothes Wshers, Eligibility Criteri, shll hve wter fctor (WF) not exceeding 6.0 nd modified energy fctor (MEF) of not less thn 2.0. 602.5.2 (IgCC 702.5.2) Ice mkers. Ice mkers shll not be wter cooled. Ice mkers producing cubed-type ice shll be ENERGY STAR qulified s commercil ice mchines. Ice mkers of type not currently ENERGY STAR qulified, such s flke, nugget or continuous-type ice mkers, shll not exceed the totl wter use of 25 gllons per 100 pounds (94 L per 45 kg) of ice produced. 602.5. (IgCC 702.5.) Stem cookers. Stem cookers shll consume not more thn the mounts indicted in Tble 50.1 (IgCC Tble 609.2.). 602.5. (IgCC 702.5.4) Dishwshers. Dishwshers shll be ENERGY STAR qulified where n ENERGY STAR ctegory exists for the specific dishwsher type. Where n ENERGY STAR ctegory does not exist, the dishwsher shll be in ccordnce with Tble 602.5.4 (IgCC 702.5.4). Wter supply piping shll be in ccordnce with Section 602.7.1 (IgCC 702.7.1) or Section 602.7.2 (IgCC 702.7.2). The flow rte through 1 / 4 -inch (6.4 mm) tubing shll not exceed 0.5 gpm (1.9 Lpm). The flow rte through 5 / 16 -inch (7.9 mm) tubing shll not exceed 1 gpm (.8 Lpm). The flow rte through -inch (9.5 mm) tubing shll not exceed 1.5 gpm (5.7 Lpm). 602.7.1 (IgCC 702.7.1) Mximum llowble pipe length method. The mximum llowble pipe length from the source of hot or tempered wter to the termintion of the fixture supply pipe shll be in ccordnce with the mximum pipe length columns in Tbles 602.7.2(2) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(2)] through 602.7.2(10) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(10)], s pproprite for the type of pipe to be instlled. Where the type of pipe to be instlled is unknown or the type of pipe is not covered by Tbles 602.7.2(2) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(2)] through 602.7.2(10) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(10)], Tble 602.7.2(1) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(1)] shll be used for design purposes. Where the length contins more thn one size of pipe, the lrgest size shll be used for determining the mximum llowble length of the pipe in the tbles. 602.7.2 (IgCC 702.7.2) Mximum llowble pipe volume method. The wter volume in the piping shll be clculted in ccordnce with Section 602.7.2.1 (IgCC 702.7.2.1). The mximum volume of hot or tempered wter in the piping to public lvtory fucets, metering or nonmetering, shll be 2 ounces (0.06 L). For fixtures other thn public lvtory fucets, the mximum volume shll be 64 ounces (1.89 L) for hot or tempered wter from wter heter or boiler; nd 24 ounces (0.7 L) for hot or tempered wter from circultion loop pipe or n electriclly het-trced pipe. The wter volume in the piping shll be clculted in ccordnce with Section 602.7.2.1 (IgCC 702.7.2.1). 602.7.2.1 (IgCC 702.7.2.1) Wter volume determintion. The volume shll be the sum of the internl volumes of pipe, fittings, vlves, meters nd mnifolds between the source of hot wter nd the termintion of the fixture supply pipe. The volume shll be determined from the liquid ounces per foot column of Tbles 602.7.2(2) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(2)] through 602.7.2(10) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(10)] s pproprite for the type of pipe. Where the type of pipe is unknown or the type of pipe is not covered by Tbles 602.7.2(2) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(2)] through 602.7.2(10) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(10)], Tble 602.7.2(1) [IgCC Tble 702.7.2(1)] shll be used to determine the volume. The volume contined within fixture shutoff vlves, flexible wter supply connectors to fixture fitting, or within fixture fitting shll not be included in the wter volume determintion. Where hot or tempered wter is supplied by circultion loop pipe or n electriclly het-trced pipe, the volume shll include the portion of the fitting on the source pipe tht supplies wter to the fixture. 602.8 (IgCC 702.8) Trp priming wter. Potble wter shll not be used for trp priming purposes where n lternte nonpotble onsite wter distribution system, reclimed wter distribution system or gry wter distribution system is vilble. 602.8.1 (IgCC 702.8.1) Continuous opertion prohibited.
