About Us The team was established in 2005 to provide bespoke furniture to the hotel and catering industry. We quickly established a reputation for producing high quality interiors fitted to their environments at affordable prices. Continued involvement with hotels inevitably led to the provision of specialist room interiors, such as meeting and presentation areas as well as made-to-measure space saving office furniture. In 2008 specialist and bespoke office furniture such as veneer inlaid boardroom tables and made-to-measure credenza units quickly became the staple business. The work force was expanded to meet the growing market and specialist skills were needed to service the corporate business sector alongside the hotel and catering specialisation. By 2010 specialist and corporate office projects had become our main activity with bespoke, custom furniture, room panels and wall claddings all produced in-house at our Milton Keynes base. Today our operation has expanded. We work with modern materials such as MDF, Corian, Trespa, and a variety of acrylic finishes producing tailored furniture and environments for companies of all sizes. We have over 70 years of in-house expertise that we can bring to bare on any project ensuring that we can react quickly whilst maintaining quality and value.
THE ENVIRONMENT As a manufacturing operation we are very aware of our impact on the environment. We are fortunate, as a niche company, to be able to keep tight control over our energy usage, the materials we use, and the source of supply. We strive to minimise our use of energy: Our machines all operate on independent power supplies and are only switched on when in use. Our heating system is factory wide and is a modern, efficient unit making the best use of fuel. We are happy to hand power tools for simple jobs rather than fire up the larger fixed equipment. We aim to use environmentally responsible raw materials: We source our board from the local area Ely in Cambridgeshire. We source our glues from suppliers local to Milton Keynes. We only use renewable timber products. We ALWAYS look to local suppliers first before going to the wider UK and European markets.
The much needed revamp of Mumford Library took place over the course of several months in 2012/13. The Desca team worked alongside the designers to provide many workspaces for students within the library. We CASE STUDY wanted to create both group study areas and places of isolation within the space and the partitions that Desca produced offer both options. Desca provided assistance throughout the process and were able to easily adapt the designs provided in order to fit into the space available. - Judith Wells, Customer Service Manager Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge October 2012
The need arose to centralise all the help desk functions within the Queens Library at Chelmsford. Desca created an excellent work space for the team, visible to all students upon entering the library. The cupboard and desk were CASE STUDY installed beneath a canopy in order to minimise noise travelling through the library area. Given that this is an education environment Desca completed this project with minimal disruption to staff and students. - Diana Hilton, Customer Service Manager Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford September 2012
Relocating our offices gave us the opportunity to refresh the look of our reception and boardroom. We always put our clients first and it is essential that these two areas have a clean, professional and modern feel so that their first CASE STUDY impression of us is the right one. Desca worked with our architects to ensure that our exact requirements were met on time, delivering high standard products that reflect our corporate image. The media wall and display unit are exactly what we wanted for our new office. - Simon Proctor, Partner Knight Frank, Milton Keynes March 2013
