Minimum Project Requirements MPR 1: Must Comply with Environmental Laws Grasspave 2, Gravelpave 2, Rainstore 3, and/or Slopetame 2 can help each site comply with NPDES Phase II, an Environmental Law addressing the reduction of NPS Pollution in Stormwater among other things. Sustainable Site Credit 5.1: Site Development Protect or Restore Case 1: Use of Grasspave 2, Gravelpave 2, or Rainstore 3 with permeable cover extends the boundary of site disturbance from 10 feet to 25 feet, allowing for more room to work during construction. Use of Beachrings 2 anywhere on site would not classify as site disturbance. Great for use as walkway or ADA accessible surface. Case 2: Installing Grasspave 2, Slopetame 2, or Rainstore 3 in areas previously developed with asphalt or concrete, and seeding over these areas with native plants, would contribute to the percent of area restored. If the site were earning SS Credit 2: Development Density and Community Connectivity, using Draincore 2 and/or Grasspave 2 in a vegetated roof seeded with native plants would contribute to the percent of area restored. Credit 5.2: Site Development Maximize Open For All 3 Cases: Use of Grasspave 2 and Slopetame 2 will increase the vegetated open space necessary to achieve this credit. State of the Earth Innovation with Invisible Structures The Grasspave 2 system consists of a base course, Hydrogrow polymer/fertilizer mixture, the Grasspave 2 structure, sand fill, and hydroseeding or sod. 2

Grasspave 2 and Gravelpave 2 combine to make a porous parking lot for the City of White Rock s Operations Yard in British Columbia. This amphitheater s grass, in Lincoln, CA, is reinforced with Grasspave 2 to prevent compaction and remain attractive.

Grasspave 2 porous paving allows you to park, drive, walk, ride, or lounge on a beautiful grass surface. It performs the functions of asphalt or concrete pavement, but with the aesthetics of a lawn all while enhancing the environment. Grasspave 2 is a structure which provides incredible load bearing strength while protecting vegetation root systems from deadly compaction. High void spaces within the entire cross-section enable excellent root development, and storage capacity for rainfall during storm events. For example, a 13-inch cross-section (one inch Grasspave 2 with sand and a 12-inch base course) can store 2.6 inches of water 13 inches 3 approx. 20% void space. Stormwater is slowed in movement through and across Grasspave 2 surfaces, which deposits suspended sediment and increases time to discharge. Suspended pollutants and moderate amounts of engine oils are consumed by active soil bacteria, which are aided by the system s excellent oxygen exchange capacity. 32 12 43 Flexible Porous Paving 2004 CSI Master Format Attractive (real) grass surface Easily installed large rolls Multiple-use surfaces Lower installation cost 92% void space for healthy turf Flexible to resist freeze/thaw and to traverse contours Load bearing 5,721 psi (14,470 kpa) compressive strength Urban heat island mitigation Air-conditioning effect (transpiration) Encourages tree growth and preservation Reduces erosion and soil migration Airborne dust capture and retention Stormwater Benefits: Filters pollutants Recharges groundwater supply Reduces runoff volume, rate, and temperature Reduces non-point-source pollution Stormwater detention in cross-section Applications Include: Overflow and event parking Fire lanes On-street and employee parking Pedestrian access and golf car paths Grass driveways Road shoulder reinforcement and parking Infiltration basin/swale reinforcement RV and boat access road and parking Size: Manufactured in 1-square-meter units (3.39 3 3.39) or quarter-meter units (1.65 feet 3 1.65 feet) and assembled into rolls. The Pentagon s helicopter landing pads are reinforced with Grasspave 2. 6 Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX, has 30,800 m 2 (317,000 sq. ft.) of grass parking with Grasspave 2. Overflow parking at an apartment complex in Concordville, PA, remains permeable with Gravelpave 2.

A Gravelpave 2 and Grasspave 2 fire lane complements the surrounding campus at Glendale Community College, Glendale, AZ. Gravelpave 2 is used in horse and pedestrian trails to stabilize and prevent rutting in Colorado Springs, CO. Decorative gravel is supported by the Gravelpave 2 cylinders and separated from the base course with the geotextile fabric.

Gravelpave 2 porous paving allows you to park, drive, walk, or ride on a beautiful decorative gravel surface. Gravelpave 2 is a structure that provides heavy load bearing support and true containment of gravel creating a porous pavement surface with unlimited traffic volume and duration for parking. The system can be used for storage and filtration of rainwater. For example, a cross-section with a 120 deep base course (at 20% void space) and the one inch high Gravelpave 2 structure (at 35%) would store 2.850 of rain. Although bacteria concentrations are lower than with Grasspave 2, polluted runoff and vehicle drippings are consumed prior to reaching the water table. 32 12 43 Flexible Porous Paving 2004 CSI Master Format Unlimited traffic on porous surface Attractive gravel or decorative stone surface Easily installed large rolls Mulitple-use surfaces Integrated geotextile fabric Flexible to resist freeze/thaw and to traverse contours Load bearing 5,721 psi (14,470 kpa) compressive strength Urban heat island mitigation Encourages tree growth and preservation Reduces erosion and soil migration Airborne dust capture and retention Stormwater Benefits: Filters pollutants Recharges groundwater supply Reduces runoff volume, rate, and temperature Reduces non-point-source pollution Stormwater detention in cross-section Applications: Parking lots Driveways Multiple-use trails Golf cart paths Infiltration basin/swale reinforcement Boat Ramps RV and boat access road and parking Fire lanes and maintenance/utility access Road shoulder reinforcement and parking Sizes and Colors: Manufactured in 1-square-meter units (3.39 3 3.39) or quarter-meter units (1.65 feet 3 1.65 feet) and assembled into rolls.
