3. Preliminary information on the machine 3.1 General description The ST1 (Illustration for presentation purposes only)is a professional extractor that performs automatic filter cleaning. (AUT-OFF-MAN) Button Extraction regulator Button for additional beating Support Automatic 220V 50/60Hz plug Automatic lubricated air outlet Extraction outlet Filtering unit and powder container CARRIAGE Made of a sturdy steel structure, it supports all parts of the machine. 12 Use and Maintenance Manual

A series of castor wheels, appropriately sized and positioned, allow the whole system to be moved. FILTERING UNIT Located inside the machine structure, it filters the previously extracted air. An automatic cleaning system allows for constant and high performance extraction. The extraction power is adjustable through a potentiometer located in front of the machine. The machine is equipped with an air tank that allows the operation of the pneumatic filter cleaning system without requiring the machine to be connected to the air mains. It can perform filter cleaning autonomously for 8 hours without being connected to the compressed air mains. The loading of the tank is achieved through an attachment on the back of the machine, near the pressure gauge. ( ONLY MODEL ST1-C ) POWDER CONTAINER It collects powders from the filtering unit. A quick closure system allows it to be quickly disassembled for emptying. ELECTRONIC CONTROL BOARD It controls and commands all machine functions. Easy accessibility and replacement render the maintenance operations extremely simple and fast. 3.3 Intended use The ST1 machine, dealt with in this manual, has been designed to: - Extract air and powder particles produced by abrasive tools while working on painted or puttied surfaces. - Filter the extracted air separating heavy parts. - Release filtered air into the environment. - Be activated/deactivated by means of a manual control. - Be activated/deactivated automatically by the tool activation/deactivation. - Be combined with electrical tools not exceeding 1000W or pneumatic tools - Allow easy disposal of filtered powders. Operators must verify the compatibility of the head assembled on the machine with the materials and/or operations to carry out on the parts to process. Any use and operation on the machine not foreseen in this manual, must be considered incorrect and/or improper. Use and Maintenance manual 15

4. Transport and installation 4.1 Transport Machines are packaged before shipment. Transport must be performed using appropriate means, fastening the machine firmly. Handling must be performed using a lift truck or pallet truck. The machine is fitted with wheels and can be positioned manually. If the machine needs to be stored, place it in a covered area and avoid overlapping loads that could irreparably damage the machine. 4.2 General instructions Operating areas must be strictly respected to avoid causing danger to persons or property. Connections must be performed by authorised and qualified personnel strictly following the instructions of the specific section. 4.3 Allowed environmental conditions The machine is intended for use in industrial environments. The recommended environmental conditions for proper machine operations are as follows: Temperature:... 5 45 C. Relative humidity:... 0.90 %. Lighting: according to the regulations in force for industrial environments. 16 Use and Maintenance Manual

4.4 Installation As the machine is a wheeled system, it does not require installation. 4.5 Allowed operating areas The work station and operating areas needed for the processing to be performed with the machine can be identified in the following diagram. 4.6 Connections and checks Connections must be carried out by qualified and authorised personnel, who must follow the indications given in the following table and diagram. 1 - Connect to the mains using a power cord of the same voltage foreseen for the machine. 220V plug Illustration for presentation purposes only Use and Maintenance manual 17

5. Preparation for use of the machine 5.1 General instructions Before using the machine for the first time, get to know the controls following the instructions in the manual. 5.2 Operation description All controls are located on the front part of the machine. (Illustration for presentation purposes only) 2 3 1 1) 3-position AUT-OFF-MAN button OFF position - the machine is in stand-by AUT position - the machine works in automatic mode MAN position - the machine works in manual mode 2) Extraction adjustment Extraction increases turning the knob clockwise, while it decreases turning it anti-clockwise. 3) Additional filter cleaning button Further filter cleaning can be performed pressing this button. 18 Use and Maintenance Manual

5.3 Using the tool The machine has been designed for the simultaneous operation of the extraction system and electrical or pneumatic tool. To start it up insert the plug into the power socket. If working with an electrical tool, insert the tool plug into the appropriate socket located on the machine front part and turn the button to AUT so that extraction starts automatically when the tool is switched on. if working with pneumatic tools, connect the compressed air to the inlet on the back. Switch off the tool to stop the machine. ADVICE ON THE USE OF TOOLS: - start the tool, it is better if it is does not come into contact with the surface to treat. Use and Maintenance manual 19

6. Troubleshooting and maintenance ST1 6.1 Troubleshooting The most recurring defects and their elimination are indicated in the following table. DEFECTS POSSIBLE CAUSE POSSIBLE SOLUTION The machine does not start Not connected to the mains Connect the control panel terminal board to the mains Poor extraction Lack of mains voltage Mains voltage not correct accumulation of powder in container Poor cleanliness Check the main panel and existing safety devices Connect correctly empty container Check the extraction route and remove any faults 20 Use and Maintenance Manual

6.2 Replacing the electronic control board Please follow the procedure indicated below to replace the electronic control board: Remove the upper closure casing of the machine Remove the cover that contains the electronic control board Disconnect the boards' power connector Disconnect the faulty electronic board fastened to the upper surface of the extraction unit Replace the board verifying its correct position and fixing Connect the connector to the board Re-fit the cover and upper casing of the machine fixing it using the appropriate screws. 6.3 Emptying the powder container To empty the powder container unhook the lever stops (1) that fasten the container to the filter body. The disposal of filtration powders must occur in accordance with the local regulations in force regarding the disposal and/or recycling of industrial waste. Before re-assembling the container under the filter body, check the seal condition. After positioning the container, lock it using the lever stops. Locking levers (1) Illustration for presentation purposes only Powder container Use and Maintenance manual 21

6.4 Electric motor Check every six months that the electric motor brushes are still in good working order. If they are not, replace them. Follow the procedure indicated below to replace the brushes correctly: Stop machine operation 1) combined action for cap extraction (the use of safety gloves is recommended) 2) remove the fixing screws 3) pull out the brush. To assemble, follow the procedure above in the reverse order pushing the brushes all the way towards the core using a screwdriver. This needs to be done to lock in place the new brushes. 22 Use and Maintenance Manual

7. Decommissioning and dismantling 7.1 Instructions for decommissioning At the end of the machine life cycle, the ST1-C can be completely dismantled and scrapped. Qualified technicians should carry out this operation using all accident-prevention measures and complying with the regulations in force on waste disposal on the basis of their composition. 7.2 Changes As already mentioned in another part of the manual, any change made to the machine is not allowed.
