SolarWall Fan Units Introduction The SolarWall fan units are designed to be used maximize the supply of solar heated air into the building via fabric ducting. The units are complete with modulating dampers that control the supply air into the building. The dampers modulate between solar heated air and recirculated air according to the desired set point temperature on the fan unit controller. For space heating applications the units would initially commence on full recirculation if there was no solar heat available early in the morning. Once the solar heated air becomes available the dampers would introduce air form the SolarWall and the amount of recirculation air would be reduced. For summer fresh air ventilation an optional bypass damper can be fitted so that unheated fresh air can be introduced for free cooling. Features Belt driven DIDW forward curved fans Standard units are supplied factory assembled on a heavy gauge galvanised base Aluminium aerofoil section dampers complete with edge seals for precise control of fresh air and recirculation air quantities Standard units have dampers fitted to the top and rear Modulating damper actuators (0-10V) are fitted as standard Johnson temperature controller equipped to control the actuators Insulated panels provide thermal and acoustic insulation Optional fan filter available, fan dimensions will vary with filter By Conserval Engineering Inc. www.solarwall.com
Make-up Air Unit Schematic During winter operation the SolarWall fan unit modulates the dampers to supply solar heated fresh air. When the SolarWall air does not satisfy the set point temperature of the fan, the dampers modulate and the fan unit mixes fresh air with recirculated air. For summer operation the summer bypass damper located on the SolarWall remains open and the fan unit supplies fresh ambient air to the building. SolarWall Air Heaters Introduction The gas fired air heaters are designed to be used in conjunction with the SolarWall solar collectors to optimise the supply of solar heated air into the building and to provide supplementary heat when required. The units are complete with modulating burners and modulating dampers to control the air supply into the building. For space heating applications the units would initially commence on full recirculation if there was no solar heat available early in the morning. Once solar heated air becomes available the dampers would introduce air from the SolarWall and the amount of recirculation air would be reduced. At the same time the gas burner would modulate to reduce the heat output from the gas burners to supplement the heat from the SolarWall to the desired outlet temperature. Once sufficient heat is available in the SolarWall the gas burners would switch off and all the heat would be supplied from the SolarWall. For applications requiring permanent ventilation, air would be introduced via the SolarWall at all times and the solar heat would pre heat the incoming air, the modulating burner would then adjust to supply the amount of supplementary heat required. For summer fresh air ventilation on optional by pass dampers can be fitted so that unheated fresh air can be introduced for free cooling. Features High efficiency heat exchanger providing over 91% thermal efficiency (based on net CV) Belt driven DIDW forward curved fans Balanced flue terminals provide flue outlet and combustion air inlet, from a single building penetration either through the roof or the wall Panel filters G4 grade are fitted as standard, a wide choice of optional filters are available Standard units are supplied factory assembled on a heavy gauge galvanised base Aluminium aerofoil section dampers complete with edge seals for precise control of fresh air and recirculation air quantities. Standard units have dampers fitted to the top and rear. Modulating damper actuators (0-10V) are fitted as standard Insulated panels provide thermal and acoustic insulation By Conserval Engineering Inc. www.solarwall.com
