ABOUT GUNNING HEATING The Gunning name has been associated with engineering for over 25 years. Starting in 1983 when Mr Brian Gunning and son Gary started up a general engineering business in Billericay, Essex. By 1990 they had outgrown the premises and were looking for expansion. They bought part of the Myson Engineering Company and incorporated their business into the larger Myson factory having acquired the manufacturing rights to the heating products for which the Myson Company was well known. In 2006 son and brother Kevin Gunning joined the family business bringing new ideas to an already successful company. Gunning Heating Products Limited now specialise in easy assembly trench heating, new high output tubular radiators and gilled tube. www.gunningheating.co.uk 3
WHY TRENCH HEATING? WHY TRENCH HEATING? Trench Heating is the best way of providing a heating system in front of full glazed walls. Gunning Trench Heating is ideal for offsetting a downdraught from windows or glazed walls in extensions, conservatories, offices or anywhere that wall height is at a premium. The even distribution of heat along the glass perimeter prevents draughts, cold spots and of course condensation. Trenches are sunken into the ground with only the grille showing. Gunning Trench Heating is a perfect way to save space while creating an elegant and unobtrusive heating system. HOW DOES IT WORK? The system comprises of a steel casing which houses an aluminium finned copper tube-heating element. Hot water passes through the element, cold air drops into the trench on the wall/window side through the inlet grill. The air is then warmed up as it rises past the element through natural convection and out into the room through the outlet grill. 4

MATERIALS CASING The casing is manufactured from 1.2mm zintec steel sheet and will have a matt black powder paint finish to the inside face. Levelling bolts are fitted through the base of the casing to allow up to 20mm height adjustment if required. The trench casing has joining straps and end straps which allow for 50mm and 75mm horizontal adjustment respectfully. HEATING ELEMENTS The heating elements are 22mm diameter copper tube with aluminium fins locked for excellent heat transfer. These elements come in all sizes to produce different outputs. GRILLES The aluminium flexible grille will be durable natural satin anodised to AA15 finish with solid nylon rods to SAM 66 and T6 grille blades will be spaced for 60% free area as standard. 30%, 50% and 70% free area grille can be supplied if required. The framework of the grilles L section will also be durable in natural anodised AA15 finish and fixed to the trench casing. Flexibility, reliability, quality, competitiveness and fast delivery make Gunning Trench Heating an unrivalled product. Colours are approximate 14
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Gunning Trench Heating has been designed to be installed within a floor void to enable the maximum available floor space to be utilised. The trench units are supplied in various sizes to suit output, pipework configurations and floor depths, normally to customer specifications. Flexible aluminium cross blade grille is available as standard, in a silver anodised finish. Other colours are available on request. At the end of each run the last section is fitted with an end stop. At corners, fix the corner to the adjacent trench section direct, using pop rivets. An intermediate joint between 2 sections of trench is fitted with a joining strap, which, has a slide fitting and offers 25mm of adjustment. When fixing joining straps to sections, ensure overall width of trench is maintained. Before attempting to install, firstly check that all components are available. It is important that the trench is prepared prior to installation of casing and that the correct depth is available and has been adequately levelled (Dependant on method). Please note that carpet thickness etc should be taken into account. Trench Units are supplied to suit the overall run dimensions. Each intermediate joint allows a tolerance of +/- 25mm to take up building variations. We suggest all sections are laid out along the heater run, equally spaced so that all gaps are of a similar size. Note: The air inlet should be positioned adjacent to the external wall/window. www.gunningheating.co.uk 15
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE STAGE 1 Lay assembled casing into Trench and make connections. Using suitable fixing screws to suit its location. STAGE 2 Arrange heating elements on floor adjacent to casings. Space elements to give equal distribution along length of trench. Lay element assembly into casing and make final connections. STAGE 3 Fit splitter plates (Baffles) into corresponding case sections. These items are simply hooked over hanger brackets pre-fitted into case sections. Cross braces should now be fitted to maintain case width. STAGE 4 Grills can now be cut to size and fitted with pop rivets at 1 metre intervals (If not already done so by us). Grills can then be fitted and ends trimmed if needed (Not always necessary). IMPORTANT: If site is not ready for handover, to prevent damage occurring to finished grills, we would suggest that this stage is delayed as long as possible and that a suitable board is laid into the casing to protect the heating elements. 16

NEW HIGH OUTPUT TUBULAR RADIATORS Gunning Tubular Radiators are compact, low level heating units combining high output with a modern Hi-Tec appearance. They are suitable for use in conservatories, bathrooms and in front of glazed areas and where wall height is at a premium. MATERIALS All units are manufactured from 50mm steel tube using a special purpose machine which applies 25mm high spirally would fins under extreme tension at 6mm pitch, thus forming an excellent mechanical bond with the tube. These fins have a semi flat profile with a regular crimped contact area equalling the outside diameter of the fins. All units are 200mm high and 100mm in diameter. They come in 5 standard lengths: 500mm, 1000mm, 1500mm, 2000mm and 2500mm respectively. FINISH Tubular Radiators are supplied as standard, finished with a high quality powder coating in either black or white. Other colours are available if requested, although price will be affected. GENERAL INFORMATION All radiators are complete with valves and either floor or wall mounts. Flow and return connections can be made from below floor or from the rear. 18
