Any significant change in design or construction may render this Certificate invalid. The validity date relates to the Type Approval Certificate and not to the approval of equipment/systems installed. If any person suffers loss or damage which is proved to have been caused by any negligent act or omission of Det Norske Veritas, then Det Norske Veritas shall pay compensation to such person for his proved direct loss or damage. However, the compensation shall not exceed an amount equal to ten times the fee charged for the service in question, provided that the maximum compensation shall never exceed USD 2 million. Type and Model Designation NK-O3-010, NK-O3-040, NK-O3-075 and NK-O3-300 Equipment / Assembly drawings Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) manufactured equipment / assembly drawings referred to under Type Approval documentation below. Product description The NK-O3 Blueballast System description is given in NK-03 BlueBallast System Operating Manuals approved by DNV. Treatment sequence: Ballast water uptake: Ozone injection Ballast water discharge: Neutralization Application / Limitation Treatment Rated Capacity (TRC): 250 m 3 /h (NK-O3-010), 800 m 3 /h (NK-O3-040), 1500 m 3 /h (NK-O3-075) and 6000 m 3 /h (NK-O3-300). The land-based tests were done with NK-O3-010 at 250 m 3 /h and the shipboard tests were done with the NK-O3-040 at 800 m 3 /h. Additonal tests were performed on the NK-O3-075 and NK-O3-300 model to confirm its ability to generate enough O 3 to reach the levels defined by this Certificate. Ozone system The Type Approved system includes an ozone system consisting of the following components: Ozone generator Ozone destructor Water chiller Re-circulation pump Ejector and jet nozzle TRO (Total Residual Oxydants) meters The Type Approved system includes 2 (two) TRO meters that monitor TRO levels during uptake and before discharge. The control equipment has been designed and tested to keep the dosage of Active Substances at 2.5 mg/l O 3 in control scheme of ozone gas flow and maximum TRO of 7.5 mg/l Br 2 during ballasting. The control equipment has been designed and tested to keep the TRO level less than 0.2 mg/l Cl 2 before discharge. The TRO meter listed under Control Equipment, tested and verified during land-based and shipboard tests, is covered by this Type Approval. Neutralizer system The Type Approved system includes a neutralizer Na 2S 2O 3.5H 2O that is injected automatically when discharged treated water exceeds the TRO limit of 0.2 mg/l Cl 2. Sensors and transmitters The type approved system includes gas detectors, flow meters, temperature sensors and pressure transmitters. The components are listed in document BWTS Sensor and Control Equipment List dated 2011-08-20. This equipment is not covered by this certificate and must be approved on a case by case basis. The main elements of the survey are: Ensure that type approved documentation is available Inspection of factory samples, selected at random from the production line (where practicable) Review of production and inspection routines, including test records from product sample tests and control routines Ensuring that systems, software versions, components and/or materials used comply with type approved documents and/or referenced system, software, component and material specifications Review of possible changes in design of systems, software versions, components, materials and/or performance, and make sure that such changes do not affect the type approval given Ensuring traceability between manufacturer s product type marking and the type approval certificate Retention survey is to be performed at least every second year and at renewal of this certificate. Copy of type approval certificate A copy of this Type Approval Certificate should be carried onboard a vessel fitted with this Ballast Water Management System at all times.
