Main services Engage in dialogue with the Chinese customers who have challenges where Danish technologies can come into play to secure implementation of solutions. Assist Chinese Authorities and the Danish municipalities and regions to get professionalized implementation of the political agreements and ensure that the effect will be significantly enhanced. Assist Danish cleantech companies to get a better and comprehensive view of where the best business and project opportunities lie across the political agreements in China. Current Projects China Desk has been leading cleantech cooperation between various Danish and Chinese public sectors since 2014, including City of Beijing, Guangdong province, Jiangsu province, Sichuan province and Zhejiang province.

Beijing-BWA Pilot Project Beijing is facing major environmental and energy challenges relating to water. Groundwater pollution, increasing water consumption in line with dwindling water resources and urban climate adaptation (also called 'Sponge City') has been concerned and added to political priority in China's new five-year plan. CLEAN's Contribution Clean China Desk has cooperation agreements with Danish relevant companies to help Beijing water authority (BWA) to develop innovative solutions to the mega city s environmental challenges, including the following area: 1. Sponge City concept, 2. Hydraulic engineering, 3. Smart water, 4. Waste water treatment and 5. Water Supply. Outcomes The relationship of water cooperation project between Beijing authorities and Danish companies has been built. Danish companies Ramboll, Grundfos, DHI and HOFOR are involved in Sponge city, Hydraulic Engineering and Pumps, Smart water and Knowledge exchange projects respectively. Guangdong-Pilot Project for Energy Efficient The collaboration between Guangdong Province and Region of Southern Denmark has developed since 2004 within energy efficiency and environmental protection. The City of Zhaoqing takes environmental protection as one of the most important tasks of the government. Zhaoqing is planning to build up Sino- Danish Environmental Protection and Healthy Park in Zhaoqing New Area. In this Park area, Danish design and technology will be considered prior in new energy, water treatment, waste to energy and green. CLEAN's Contribution CLEAN has matured the projects within energy efficiency and energy efficient technologies where Guangdong province faces significant challenges in this field. CLEAN is working together with Danish Industries, State of Green, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant stakeholders to secure coordination for implementation of projects in Guangdong. Current Outcomes Relevant Danish companies visited Zhaoqing and had dialoged with the administration of Zhaoqing New Development Area and Guangdong Commerce. The Region of Southern Denmark, the Provincial People s Government of Guangdong and Tus-Holdings Co., Ltd signed MoU for promote substantial cooperation in the field of energy saving and environmental protection in Zhaoqing. Jiangsu-Demonstration Project for Soil and Groundwater Remediation In Jiangsu Province, land contamination problems are immense, particularly in the densely-populated and industrialized area, where expand around the heavily polluted industrial sites. Jiangsu is facing a huge task to eliminate pollution in the brownfields, as the industry has left to build homes and establish farmland where companies lay. CLEAN's Contribution CLEAN, through coordination of demonstration projects for Danish companies, is helping Danish authorities and Danish Soil Partnership with getting professionalized and streamlined business element in the Danish-Chinese cooperation. This is to ensure that Danish soil and groundwater companies will get a result of the agreements. The current projects are in Nanjing, Suzhou and Wuxi in Jiangsu Province. Current Outcomes Relevant Danish companies have been involved in the projects in Jiangsu and finished the first phase-mapping the contaminated sites. The second phase is in process. Sichuan-Demonstration Project for Soil and Groundwater Remediation Region of central Denmark, together with Danish Soil Partnership and VIA University College since September 2015 had a cooperation agreement with Sichuan Province on soil contamination, focusing on farmland and old battery factory located in 10 sites in Sichuan Province. CLEAN's Contribution CLEAN China Desk involves establishing and developing a 'motor' for projects based on soil and groundwater range between Sichuan province and Danish partners with focus on the commercial and business oriented interests and projects within soil and groundwater in the cooperation province of Sichuan. Current Outcomes Soil remediation project for farm land in Lu county and for battery factory in Chongzhou has signed contract with Danish companies and Danish academic institutes. More projects on soil remediation in Sichuan are discussed. Project Partners Central Denmark Region Region Zealand Capital Region of Denmark Danish Soil Partnership

Zhejiang-Demonstration Project for Soil and Groundwater Remediation Zhejiang Province are facing major environmental challenges, especially on soil pollution. There were over 80,000 hectares abandoned sites or factory closed, including chemical engineering, tanning, textile and paper factory. Demonstration projects for brownfield remediation and redevelopment has added to Zhejiang strategic Document. CLEAN's Contribution Zhejiang Province has signed MoU with Region of Zealand, Denmark. CLEAN China Desk focus on :1. Mapping and identification to make a comprehensive assessment of the project. 2. Building relationships 3. Organization and involvement meetings with Danish competencies. Current Outcomes Danish delegation including the representative from Danish authorities and companies visited Zhejiang Province and signed MoU. Now there are potential projects focusing on water pollution, air pollution and data management of polluted sites with Zhejiang EPA, Hangzhou EPA and Ningbo EPA. Beijing - Eco - City Fengtai Eco-City In October 2014, a delegation from City of Copenhagen and CLEAN visited the Fengtai Eco-City and identified areas of collaboration including two stages. Stage one is innovation Innovative Strategies and Tools and stage two is preparation of Low Carbon Zoning Codes as Statutory Zoning Plans. CLEAN has built the relationship and trust with the project owners at Fengtai Eco-City. Co-developing a Sustainable Urban Development Cooperation Framework Agreement and proposal to Fengtai Eco-City. Tongzhou Eco-City CLEAN organized a workshop for Danish companies and Beijing Urban Planning in October 2016 with agreement on Danish companies would provide a master plan for Tongzhou Eco-City. A Danish company had delivered the concept design for one of the projects in Tongzhou. CLEAN helps to facilitate and working with the political process by setting up a meeting with Tongzhou District Government to support the positive dialogue that Danish companies have already had with Tongzhou Eco-City.
