P3 5 FIRE EXTINGUISHER 5.1 Product breakdown Three basic variants of the EN-extinguisher exist: P3APP003010A, P3APP003010B and P3APP003010C. The only difference is an additional colored label above the main label for variants B and C, therefore weights, dimensions and performance are identical for all variants. The extinguisher consists of three main parts: 1. Cylinder 2. Valve body 3. Extinguishing agent with propellant gas The cylinder is made of Aluminum. It is deep-drawn and therefore has no welding-joints, which ensures a high burst pressure of more than 60 bar. It has a volume of 1.44 liter. For every cylinder a hydrostatic pressure test with 27 bar is performed and the cylinder is marked accordingly The valve body is injection molded and made of POM. It is a single-piece design including the handle and nozzle. Assembled with the valve head are the siphon tube, spindle, syntherized filter, spring, o-rings, pressure gauge, lever, safety seal and safety pin. The extinguisher fulfills the requirements of the pressure equipment directive and therefore is marked with the CE- mark. It also fulfills the requirements of US Department of Transportation (DOT). P3 Figure 2: Dimensions of P3APP003010A/B/C 5.3 Operation of the extinguisher For the operation of the extinguisher, the following steps are necessary (refer to Figure 1): 1. Check if the pressure on the pressure gauge (13) is in the green area. 2. Pull safety pin (11) safety seal (12) will break. 3. Aim extinguisher at base of fire. 4. Press lever (2) and move stream into fire. By pushing the lever (2) against the resistance of the tapered spring (6), the spindle (3) is pushed down and the propelling gas pushes the extinguishing agent (14) through the siphon tube (7) into the valve body (1) and out of the integrated valve. Pressure is shown by a bourdon- tube type gauge which is screwed into the extinguisher head. Page: 9 / 16
P3 6 STANDARD BRACKET Three basic variants exist of the standard bracket: P3APP003020A, P3APP003020B and P3APP003020E. They are basically the same; the variants B and E are longer than variant A and have additional fixation points. Variant E is a variation of variant B with two elongated holes. Environmental and mechanical performance is the same for all variants. 6.1 Product breakdown The standard bracket is an assembly of three different parts: 1. Polymeric bracket body 2. Two metallic straps with protective shrink sleeves 3. Label The bracket body is an injection molded part and designed to match the dimensions of the 5B-extinguisher. It has multiple fixation points for interchangeability with brackets of various other manufacturers, allowing easy retrofit The fixation of the extinguisher on the bracket is done by two stainless steel straps. The straps are rotatable during installation to adjust the position of the closing mechanism. Therefore, the height of the brackets is variable as shown in Figure 3 and the same for all three variants. Figure 3: Rotatable straps Page: 10 / 16
