Valley located in the rain shadow of St. Elias Mountains. Precipitation consists of ca. 230mm mean annual precipitation (mostly rain in summer and 100cm of snow in winter). Cutting was then dipped in rooting compound Wilson Roots Liquid Root Stimulator, Sure-Gro Inc. containing auxin and fungicide in the forms of 0.4% IBA and 0.01% etridiazole respectively. Cuttings then placed on moist sand when rooting and shoots appear, transplant into 4cm peat plugs. 30 days with 22.6± 0.5 mean survival Transplanting done from 4 cm soil core plugs.
