4 DESIGN AND OPERATION PRINCIPLE 4.1 The MPH design 4.1.1 The MPH (See Figure 1 and 2) consists of a case 1 where fire extinguishing powder (OP) 2 and cold gas generator (CGG) 3 with electric triggering element 4 are placed. In the bottom of the case there is a nozzle-sprayer 5, the output hole of it is closed by membrane 6. MPH is fitted with a grounding bracket 7. In the upper part the MPH is fitted with bracket 8 to fasten to the ceiling (Figure 1) or bracket 9 to fasten to the wall (Figure 2). Figure 1 Figure 2 4.1.2 The MPH is activated with the help of current impulse that can be generated by: Receive/control, fire alarm, and safeguard devices; manual start button; self-contained signaling-and-triggering devices (for example, signaling-and-triggering independent automatic device for fire extinguishing setups TPS-01). 4.1.2 Autonomous automatically activated modul MPH-2.8A autonomously detects and reports fires without any external energy source or control system (RS). 4.2 Operation 4.2.1 After sending electric pulse to the outputs of the electric triggering unit 4, the CGG 3 generates gas which makes OP 2 loose and creates pressure inside the MPH case to rupture membrane 6 and eject through nozzle-sprayer 5 the jet of OP into the zone of burning 4.3 The design of autonomous self-starting module MPH (N) -2.8. 4.3.1 On the stem 1, that is fastened on the cover 3 MPH (FIG. 3) using two nuts, is rolled the selfactivation heat device (STP) 4. Electrical conductors 5 and igniter of CGG are inserted in PVC tubes 6, through the hermetic input connected to the electronic trigger device 4. 4.3.2 Principle of operation MPH (N) -2.8. 4.3.2.1 In the event of fire and reach of the enlisted zone temperature (72 ± 5) С from the trigger device 4 the signal is automatically given to an electrical outlet 5 of the trigger element of CGG that generates gas, which increases the volume of powder and creates pressure inside the enclosure of MPH which opens the diaphragm and shots the poweder through sprinkler as a spray into the combustion zone. Simultaneously with the formation of an electrical impulse in electrical equipment for electrical apparatus of CGG of MPH, it builds signal which is used to lock the touch loop of fire protection system (SPS) cables that are connected through the hermetic entrance with electronic activation device. 4

Figure 3 Careful! To return the electronic activation device into the default position, it is necessary while the temperature is lower than 65 С to remove the energy cell (battery) and reinsert it after two minutes. 4 SAFETY MEASURES 5.1 The staff who was allowed to operate the MPH should study this Passport and observe its requirements. 5.2 It is not allowed: keeping and installing the MPH near heat generators; effecting rainfalls, direct sunlight, aggressive media, and moisture on the MPH; shocking the case and the CGG; dropping from the height more than 2 m; dismantling the MPH, except for maintenance work according to Section 7 of the present Passport; using the MPH with damaged case (dents, cracks, through holes). 5.3 Before connecting the module to the mains, the output ends of the triggering unit should be closed by twisting not less than twice and sealed. Connect the MPH only after its grounding. The outputs of the electric triggering unit of the standard version MPH should be placed separately into fluoro-plastic tubes with inner diameter 2...5 mm. Electric safety while assembling the MPH should be provided by meeting the requirements of the existing regulations. 5.4 Loading, reloading, certification and technical maintenance should be carried out in the rooms specially equipped and designed for it at the MPH factory-manufacturer or in organizations having a license for such kind of activity. 5.5 After detecting the module defects (dents, cracks, through holes) during the operation or after its service life, the module should be sent to the factory-manufacturer for utilization. 5.6 While operating the module is fire- and explosion-proof. 5.7 Fire extinguishing powder has no harmful effect on the body and clothes of people, does not cause damage to property and is easy-to-remove. Extinguishing powder waste utilization should be made according to the instruction: Utilization and Regeneration of Fire Extinguishing Powders. 5.8 The bearing construction, the MPH is fastened to, should sustain the impulse load from the module kickback at the moment of OP ejecting. 6 PREPARATION OF THE MPH TO OPERATION, LAYOUT AND MOUNTING 6.1 Je potrebné vybaliť MPH z obalu a obzrieť celistvosť krytu a membrány. 6.2 Fasten the bracket 8 (See Figure 1) on the ceiling or bracket 9 (See Figure 2) on the wall. 5

Positions of holes in the bracket intended to fasten the MPH on the ceiling are given in Figures 4a, on the wall in Figure 4b. In the horizontal position depending on the location and direction of the spray spigot, it is possible to fasten the MPH with ceiling and wall bracket. a) 8,5 87 b) 8 Figure 4 6.3 It is necessary to connect the MPH with a bracket and reinforce the connection using the mounting nut. 6.4 While mounting STP on the module MPH-2.8A i tis necessary to fulfill following steps: 6.4.1 Visually check the STP for the lack of mechanical damage. 6.4.2 Using the Mounting nut 2 (Figure 3) connect bracket 1 to the case of the MPH. 6.4.3 From case 1 of STP (see Figure 5) i tis necessary to remove the cap 2 and screw 3. Throught the screw opening 3 of bracket 1 (see Figure 3) its necessary to instert the cables of electric activation element of CGG into the hermetic entrance of STP and if needed to also instert the element of fire protection system (SPS).Electronic activation device has to be fixed on the bracket according to the Figure 3. Note: voltage range in SPS must be between 12 and 70V of a constant or variable flow with the limit of maximum current 100ms. Figure 5 6.4.4 It is necssary to cennect cables of CGG and SPS to the entrances 4 and 5 located inside the case of electronic activation device. Cascade control scheme of the input signal line SPE with the final device is shown in Figure 6. 6

Figure 6 6.4.5 Install the energy cell (battery) while keeping the right polarity 6. Type of the energy cell is GR2032 (Navigator, RENATA or energizer) wth voltage of (3,0±0,3). 6.4.6 Test the electronic activation of a device. Make sure that the energy cell and activation chain of MPH is in right state by pressing the control button 7: If functioning properly it sends three pulses on indicator 8 (green) with a length of 100 ms for 1 second; In case of insufficient voltage power cell sends three pulses at indicator 9 (red) with a length of 100 ms for 1 second; In short lock of "bridge" of the electric activation device of CGG (resistance less than 8 ohms) it sends five pulses at indicator 9 (red) with a length of 100 ms; If the bridge of the electric activation device of CGG crashes (resistance higher than 20 Ohm) it sends four pulses on indicator 9 (red) with a length of 100 ms; Holding the buttons 7 won t continue further testing, the light signals are administered every 5-6 s. 6.4.7 Mount cap 2 on case 1 of the electronic activation device of CGG and to mnout autonomous module on the ceiling according to points 6.2 and 6.3. 6.5 Calculation of the required number of MPH on protected areas is carried out in accordance with paragraph 9 SP 5.13130.2009. 6.6 For the protection of individual paragraphs areas, local protection with a ceiling mounted MPH with a height (H) up to 4 meters, locally protected area (S) is 2.8 square meters and has a circular shape. 6.7 Configuration of spreading of the powder and the image of the area in which fire fighting is achieved, for ceiling mount is shown in Table 2, and for the wall mount is shown in Figure 7 and Table 3.
