1 PRODUCT OVERVIEW LID-3300IP (later referred t als as LID r LID Ice Detectr) is an ice detectr fr wind turbines and meterlgical statins. LID-3300IP Ice Detectr cnsists f LID-3300IP Cntrl Unit and LID/ISD Ice Sensr. LID mnitrs the icing weather cnditins n-line and reprts icing events thrugh varius interfaces. Ice alarm and ther measurement infrmatin are available via 2 relay utputs, 2 analg utputs, frnt panel, serial utput either as RS-232 r ptical fiber interface and Web user interface. Ice detectin f the LID/ISD Ice Sensr is based n an ultrasnic principle. Ultrasnic signal attenuates when ice is accumulated n the sensr wire. By default, LID starts t heat itself after an ice detectin t get rid f the accumulated ice. Alarm levels and sensr heating, amng ther functins, can be cntrlled by user-cnfigurable parameters. Certain factry parameters have been defined by the manufacturer, which allw start-up and peratin withut any additinal definitins. This manual includes instructins fr installatin, cmmissining and perating f the LID-3300IP Ice Detectr. Labktec prducts are designed t be safe when perated in the manner described in this manual. The safety f this prduct cannt be guaranteed if the prduct is used in any ther way than is specified in this manual. Cpyright 2016 Labktec Oy 4/37

3 LID-3300IP ICE DETECTOR IN OPERATION 3.1 Operating mdes This chapter explains the basic peratin f LID-3300IP. Serial and Web user interfaces are explained in different chapters. LID-3300IP perates in different mdes which are explained belw. SENSING MODE LID-3300IP cntinuusly measures the signal level f the ice sensr. The maximum signal amplitude value can be defined by the user by parameter 2. By default, the signal value varies between 0 and 100. Ice signal value is visible in serial and web user interfaces, and available as cntinuus current message in the analg utput. ICE DETECTED MODE When ice signal ges belw a defined alarm level (set by parameter 0), LID ges t Ice detected mde and gives an ice alarm. The delay f an ice alarm can be set by parameter 3. Ice alarm is visible in the Ice alarm LED f the frnt panel as well as serial and web interfaces. Ice relay energizes and clses cntacts 8 and 9. Ice alarm and Ice detected mde are active during the Heating and Cling phases that fllw an ice alarm. Parameter 22 can be used t set a delay fr ice alarm deactivatin. It will keep the ice alarm active after the heating and cling phase fr the duratin f the time delay. This is t prevent repetitive alarms during a lng icing event. HEATING PHASE Right after the ice alarm is detected, sensr starts t heat itself t get rid f the accumulated ice. It is als pssible t disable heating by parameter 12. The whle heating prcess can be cntrlled with parameters 12 18, 23 and 24. Default heating parameters shud be useful enugh fr mst weather cnditins. Autmatic heating is used t remve sft ice which has slwly accumulated ver the sensr in light icing cnditins. It des nt generate an ice alarm. Autmatic heating is cntrlled with parameters 23 and 24. COOLING PHASE When sensr is heated t the maximum heating temperature, LID mves t Cling phase. Ice signal value is measured all the time and it shuld be clse t the maximum after the Heating phase. Cling phase has ended when sensr temperature is clse t ambient temperature (parameter 20), r maximum cling time (parameter 19) has exceeded, r sensr temperature has gne belw 0 ºC. Ice alarm is released after the cling perid if ice signal value is abve the alarm level. FAULT MODE LID indicates a fault r failure if there are prblems in ice measurement, temperature measurements, heating r in ther peratins f the unit. Fault indicatin is visible in the Fault LED in the frnt panel, serial and web user interfaces and in the fault relay utput. Please nte that the Fault relay is nrmally energized, prviding thus a Cpyright 2016 Labktec Oy 9/37

3.2 LID-3300IP Frnt Panel fail-safe peratin. Depending n the fault, LID may cntinue perating therwise nrmally r indicates a critical failure. E.g. ice measurement errr is a critical failure but heating failure is nt. Explanatin f the fault cdes in the serial interface are presented in Appendix A. Indicatr / buttn POWER ICE ALARM HEATING FAULT TEST BUTTON Meaning Green light means pwer is n. N light means n pwer. Red light means ICE ALARM. N light means NO ICE ALARM. Red light means HEATING is ON. N light means HEATING is NOT ON. Red light means FAULT is ON. N light means FAULT is NOT ON. Pushing the test buttn shrtly will generate an ICE ALARM. Pushing the test buttn lnger (abut 10 secnds) will reset the device. 3.3 Use f different parameter settings Use case Functinality f LID-3300IP Ice Detectr system is cnfigurable as described in chapter 3.1. All parameters as well as their default and valid values are described in Appendix B. Parameters. In general, parameters can be gruped t fllwing categries: - Ice detectin parameters (P0 - P6, P22) - Heating parameters (P12 - P20, P23, P24) - I/O parameters (P7 - P9) Default parameter values are cnfigured t every device befre delivery and they suite perfectly fr mst f the cases. Since icing is very different in different lcatins glbally r even lcally and in different times f the year, user may want t change parameter values t better suite his applicatin. If parameter values are changed, Labktec recmmends t apply the fllwing guidelines: Recmmended parameter values Stp wind turbine due t safety risk P0 = 30-70, P1 = P0 + 10 Start blade heating (anti-icing) P0 = 70-90, P1 = P0 + 10 P16, P17, P18 clse t maximum Extreme icing cnditins P0 > 60, P1 = P0 + 10 P16, P17, P18 clse t maximum Please cnsult Labktec when defining parameters fr yur applicatin. Manual Daylight Saving Time setting changes the time ne hur ahead r back at the mment when value is changed. (*) Mre infrmatin abut SNTP System clck can als be synchrnised with netwrk time statins using a built-in SNTP-client. SNTP uses UDP-prtcl n prt 123. T activate SNTP-client, set first primary and alternative SNTPserver dmain names (r IP-addresses), yur current time zne related t UTC (Universal Time Crdinated) and finally set SNTP Client ON/OFF switch t 1. SNTP-client makes then first time synchrnizatin attempt and updates system time then at intervals f 15 hurs. The fllwing SNTP dmain names are used as default: Primary SNTP-server time1.ggle.cm 1st alternative SNTP-server time.nist.gv 2nd alternative SNTP-server time2.ggle.cm The primary SNTP-server is nrmally used. In case the primary server is nt respnding then alternative server(s) will be used. SNTP-client uses built-in dmain name server system (DNS) t get ip-address f selected SNTP-servers. DNS runs n UDP-prt 53. Nrmally it is nt necessary t change these ip-addresses, but it s pssible t change them using web UI- raw cmmand windw r RS-232 interface (see Appendix C. Terminal cmmands). Default ip-addresses and service prviders used fr DNS are: Primary DNS-server 8.8.8.8 Ggle 1st alternative DNS-server 156.154.70.1 DNS advantage 2nd alternative DNS-server 4.2.2.1 Ggle In case f pwer failure the clck has a reserve runtime f apprximately 10 days. When cnnecting the cntrl unit t mains pwer after a lng service break etc, check that the system clck is running if yu are nt using SNTP t synchrnize the clck. If the system clck is stpped, event lgging is als disabled and an alert text CLOCK IS OUT OF TIME - LOGGING DISABLED!! will be displayed abve the clck display in web UI. Yu have t set the clck t enable event lgging again. Cpyright 2016 Labktec Oy 20/37

APPENDIX B. PARAMETERS Par. nbr Name f the parameter and explanatin 0 Ice detected alarm level Ice alarm activates when ice signal ges belw this level. 1 Ice nt detected alarm level When ice signal ges abve this level, ice is n lnger detected. Nte! Ice alarm will deactivate after the sensr is heated and cled dwn clse t ambient temperature 2 Maximum ice signal value Maximum ice signal level can be adjusted accrding t user needs. This is useful e.g. when the same maximum signal level (255), that used t be in the lder Ice Detectrs, is required. Please nte that the alarm levels shuld be adjusted accrdingly when maximum ice signal level is changed. 3 Ice alarm delay (nbr f 4 secnd measurement cycles) Ice signal must remain belw ice detected alarm level fr the duratin f the entire delay befre ice alarm activates. Delay is set as a multiple f 4 secnd intervals. 4 Nbr.f temperature sensrs Ice detectr measures either sensr temperature (when P4 = 1) r bth sensr and ambient temperature (when P4 = 2). Sensr temperature is measured inside the sensr, ambient temperature is measured frm the cable cnnectr f the sensr. Please nte that the value f this parameter affects the RS-232 utput frmat. 5 Ambient temp abve which icing is impssible ( C r F) Temperature limit abve which icing shuld nt be pssible. This parameter prevents r ntifies f pssible false ice alarms. Ice detectr peratin in case f ice abve this temperature is determined by parameter 6. This parameter is ignred when perfrming an ice alarm test. 6 Mde fr ice alarm abve parameter 5 In case an ice alarm is detected abve the temperature set by parameter 5, ice detectr behaves the fllwing way accrding t the parameter value: 0 = N ice alarm r fault is activated (default) 1 = Only fault is activated 2 = Only ice alarm is activated 3 = Bth ice alarm and fault are activated Nte! When signal value is belw the alarm level fr mre than 24 hurs, a fault signal is indicated, regardless f the value f this parameter. 7 Directin f analg utput 1 0 = Minimum measurement value equals 4 ma and maximum measurement value equals 20 ma. 1 = Maximum measurement value equals 4 ma and minimum measurement value equals 20 ma. By default ice signal 0 equals 4 ma and ice signal 100 equals 20 ma. 8 Directin f analg utput 2 0 = Minimum measurement value equals 4 ma and maximum measurement value equals 20 ma. 1 = Maximum measurement value equals 4 ma and minimum measurement value equals 20 ma. By default temperature value -40C equals 4 ma and +60C equals 20 ma. 9 Surces f analg utputs It is pssible t chse which measurements are driving analg utputs. 0 = Ice signal in analg utput 1, sensr temperature in analg utput 2 1 = Ice signal in analg utput 1, ambient temperature in analg utput 2 Default value Valid values 60 10-1023 70 15-1023 100 0-1000 3 0-7200 2 1-2 5 0-50 0 0-3 0 0-1 0 0-1 1 0-5 Cpyright 2016 Labktec Oy 28/37

2 = sensr temperature in analg utput 1, ambient temperature in analg utput 2 3 = sensr temperature in analg utput 1, sensr temperature in analg utput 2 4 = ambient temperature in analg utput 1, ambient temperature in analg utput 2 5 = Ice signal in analg utput 1, Ice signal in analg utput 2 10 Nt in use at the mment. 11 Nt in use at the mment. 12 Heating ON (1) r OFF (0) Based n this parameter, heating is either started (1) r nt started (0) when ice signal ges belw the alarm level. By default, heating is started t melt the ice s that the sensr is capable f measuring the icing situatin again. If heating is nt started, ice alarm deactivates nly after the ice melts naturally away frm the sensr. 13 Maximum heating temperature (degrees) Sensr is heated t the temperature set by this parameter t melt the ice during an ice alarm. The parameter value must be set either in Celcius r in Farenheit, depending n the selected unit f temperature. By default, the unit f temperature is Celcius. Fr safety reasns, there is als a thermstat inside the sensr t stp heating after abut +65C (+149F). 14 Full pwer heating temperature (P13 - sensr temperature) Sensr is heated with a maximum pwer up t this limit, after which heating pwer is reduced in rder nt t exceed the defined maximum heating temperature. Parameter value represents the temperature difference between maximum heating limit and actual sensr temperature. 15 Heating pwer rati after P14 (%) Heating pwer is reduced t the degree set by this paramater after the Full pwer heating limit (P14). 16 Max heating time (minutes) Maximum heating time is limited with this parameter. Heating will stp if the maximum heating temperature (P13) is nt reached after the time set in this parameter. If there is n ice after the heating is stpped, sensr will return t nrmal peratin. 17 Heating extensin time (minutes) In very cld and windy atmsphere it might be useful t extend the heating time after the maximum heating temperature is reached in rder t melt the ice cmpletely. Sensr temperature is kept in max heating temperature (P13) fr an extra time set by this parameter. 18 Heating extensin time in case f ice (minutes) If ice is still detected right after the heating and/r heating extensin time (P17), heating is extended fr the extra time set by this parameter. 19 Cling ff time (minutes) Sensr must cl dwn after the heating in rder t be able t measure icing cnditins. Ice alarm is released after the cling perid. This parameter sets a fixed time t stp the cling perid. See als P20. Cling stps accrding t parameters P19 and P20, whichever is reached earlier. 20 Cling ff temp difference (ambient temperature - sensr temperature) Sensr must cl dwn after the heating in rder t be able t measure icing cnditins. Ice alarm is released after the cling perid. Cling will be stpped accrding t this parameter when sensr temperature is clse t ambient temperature. See als parameter P19. Cling stps accrding t parameters P19 and P20, whichever is reached earlier. 21 System parameter (d nt change) 22 Delay fr ice alarm deactivatin (minutes) Delay fr ice alarm deactivatin is used t prevent repetitive ice alarms in case f lngterm icing cnditins. during the time delay specified by this parameter. If the ice signal is belw the alarm level (P0) after the delay, ice alarm remains active and a new heating and cling cycle is started. Ice alarm is deactivated if ice signal is abve parameter P1 after the delay. 23 Signal level fr autmatic sensr heating Autmatic heating f the sensr is used t remve the sft ice which has slwly accumulated ver the sensr in light icing cnditins. Autmatic heating is started when ice signal remains cnstantly belw the value f this parameter fr a lnger time than what is specified by parameter P24. Autmatic heating des nt generate an ice alarm. The functinality is nt in use when parameter value is 0. 24 Delay fr autmatic sensr heating (hurs) Autmatic sensr heating is activated when ice signal remains cnstantly belw the value f parameter P23 fr a lnger time than what is specified by this parameter. 85 0-1000 24 0-100 Cpyright 2016 Labktec Oy 30/37
