Whissonsett Norfolk
CHARM OFFENSIVE A period property bursting with personality and character, this four/five bedroom home offers so much in the way of class and comfort. Centrally located in the attractive village of Whissonsett, perfectly situated for nearby market towns and the North Norfolk coast, could White House be the dream family home you ve been searching for?
Beautiful Period Cottage in superb Village setting, opposite St Mary s Church Three Reception Rooms, Five Bedrooms, Kitchen/Family Room Double Garage Set back from the Road, almost hidden from view, on its own plot of just over ¼ Acre (0.28) Thought to offer even further potential The Accommodation extends to 2889 sq.ft Energy Rating E With the inscription on the front of this charming property indicating that the property dates back to the late 1700s, the owners believe it has even more history than that. We think that date relates to a conversion and parts of the house are even older, they said. We bought the property in 2007 as a second home and many joyous memories were made here, before we rented it out in more recent years. Leaving London and arriving here for dinner was always a great way to start the weekend and the relaxed nature of the location enabled us to switch off and recharge the batteries.
Family Favourite It s always been a happy family home - even when the previous owners were here - and as soon as you walk through the front door, you pick up on the feel-good factor and atmosphere that this house has in abundance, remarked the owners. All of the rooms have their own charm and character; the family kitchen is nice and sunny. It comes into its own in the summer, with the access out to the patio. The master bedroom has lovely views of the church opposite. The Perfect Size For us, it s been the ideal garden to have for a second home, they continued. It s substantial enough for entertaining and hosting lunch parties with enough space for the children to run around and play and to do a bit of gardening if you want to. But at the same time, it s easy to maintain. The front garden is deeper than you think as well and being set back from the road brings its obvious benefits it feels nice and secluded here. As for the double garage, it is an extremely adaptable space, ready to be shaped in whichever way you see fit. It has light and power, double glazing and is fully insulated. We ve often thought it would make a perfect annexe but it could easily be a studio, office or gym as well. It provides you with plenty of options. Escape To The Country We picked this location because it s easily accessible from London, the owners commented. We did consider the North Norfolk Coast, but that is a bit further away, whereas the beauty of this setting is that you can leave the capital after work on a Friday, and be in the garden or in front of the fire with a bowl of pasta and a glass of wine by 8.30pm. And the next morning you can access the beaches, boutique villages and superb eateries in no time at all. There are also market towns nearby to enjoy, there are also some terrific country walks in the vicinity.
And while the North Norfolk coast as spectacular as it is can get a tad busy during the warmer months, there s no danger of that in Whissonsett. The house is at the heart of the village and it s a wonderfully tranquil environment. It s very much a rural village, with friendly local people, and we ve made some great friends here over the years.
