The following two projects were proposed and agreed upon by the TC members by postal ballot after the plenary meeting. - Explosion venting devices for compressor buildings and offshore modules. - Explosion testing of passive fire protection systems. A detailed description of the two proposals will be provided to the CCMC by separate mail. 9. Joint meeting of CLC/TC31 and 305 on the 24 th October 2011 Experience with the new format of Annex ZY "State of the art" It was concluded that the 305 and CENELEC/TC 31 are dealing with the issue of the Annex ZY in a satisfactory manner. Whether the concept of Annex ZY will be taken over by IEC/TC 31 is under discussion. The draft proposals for projects under draft Commission mandate for standardisation in the field of equipment used in the offshore oil and gas industry were discussed in the joint meeting. There were no objections against the proposals from 305 as mentioned under item 8. 8 Co-operation with IEC/TC 31/SC 31M 8.1 Plenary meetings of IEC/TC 31/SC 31M 1st Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 2007-11-07 Report: N 672 2nd Sao Paulo, Brazil 2008-11-19 Report: N 732 3rd Tel Aviv, Israel 2009-10-20 Report: N 788 4th Seattle, US 2010-10-13 Report: N 860 5th Melbourne, AU 2011-10-27 Report: N 919 8.2 List of projects in IEC/TC 31 SC 31M ISO DIS 80079-36 Ed. 1.0: Explosive atmospheres - Non-electrical equipment for use in explosive atmospheres - Basic method and requirements (basis: EN 13463-1) The Committee Draft for voting (equal to the DIS stage in ISO) has been prepared by the project team in SC 31M. The enquiry will be launched in the second quarter of 2012 in parallel with 305. NOTE: This document deals primarily with non-electrical issues. ISO/IEC CDV 80079-38 Explosive atmospheres - Non-electrical equipment for use in explosive atmospheres - Part 38: Equipment and components in explosive atmospheres in underground mines (basis: EN 1710) The Committee Draft for voting (equal to the DIS stage in ISO) has been prepared by the project team in SC 31M. The enquiry will be launched in the second quarter of 2012 in parallel with 305. NOTE: This document deals with electrical as well as non-electrical issues. Following the agreement between ISO/TMB and IEC/SMB this document will become a double logo ISO/IEC-standard. Project leader: Dr Fuchs, Germany MT 80079-20-1- Explosive atmospheres - Part 20-1: Material characteristics for gas and vapour classification test methods and data from TC 31 to SC 31M IEC 60079-20-1 Ed.1 has been published in January 2010. Within this document the old standards and reports IEC 60079-1-1, -4, -4A, -12 and -20 have been merged. In its plenary meeting in October 2010 IEC/TC 31 has taken the decision to disband the previous MT 60079-20-1 and to start the Maintenance Procedure in IEC/SC 31M. Thus a new 10

MT 80079-20-1 has been established to maintain the IEC 60079-20-1. A call for experts was send out and sufficient experts have been nominated to start the maintenance work. NOTE: In October 2012 a joint meeting of MT 80079-20-1 and 305/WG 1 will take place within the IEC General Meeting in Oslo Maintenance team leader: Martin Thedens, Germany. MT 80079-20-2 - Explosive atmospheres - Part 20-2: Material characteristics - Combustible dusts test methods This project has been transferred from IEC/TC 31/SC 31J. The last meeting of the MT took place in Melbourne (interim convenor Stephen Puttick, secretary 305/WG 1). The main achievement of this meeting was that an agreement could be found on all outstanding issues from the discussion about definitions. Maintenance team leader: Donald W. Ankele, US Under discussion: New project for protective systems The interest in this project has been expressed by individual experts from non-european countries, however there is still a lack of participation from outside of Europe in this group. It is expected that there will be a further meeting in 2012 of the ad-hoc-group 3. Convenor: Kees van Wingerden, Norway Thomas von Hoegen, 2012-01-27 11
