Background The Ship Point master planning process was initiated in March of 2017 to advance policy direction from Harbour Vitality Principles (2014) Ship Point design and initial implementation a key action in the 2015-2018 Strategic Plan
The Process Phase 1: Detailed Assessment, Design Framework Phase 2: Conceptual Design 2 open houses with over 300 people in attendance Online survey with 147 responses Council approved design concept as basis for Phase 3 Phase 3: Master Plan Document Detailed (schematic) design Implementation & Phasing Strategy Cost estimate and Funding Strategy

Shoreline and Structural Approach Ship Point will require a combination of repair, replacement and structural stabilization of the sea wall and portions of the site
Shoreline and Structural Approach Shoreline Strategies Retreat: Remove existing damaged sea wall and replace with rip-rap bank Unload: Removing approx. 1 metre of material approx. 3 metres back from the shoreline to reduce load bearing on existing wall Support: reinforcing existing wall with vertical strapping in some areas with upfront and ongoing repair and maintenance Reinforce: A series of interlocking jet grouted columns adjacent to the existing sea wall to contain the unconsolidated fill and materials Phased Replacement of pier: Full Emergency Repairs in 2018 with Steel Piles and Replace Restricted Portion by 2023 Settlement management: use of geo -grid and resin bound materials to improve site stability and long term maintenance

Shoreline and Structural Approach Shoreline Strategies Jet grouting is a soil improvement technique that involves injection of water-cement grout and mixing into the existing soil. Site and shoreline structural restoration does not include mitigation for seismic events Approach premised on management of seawall settlement through ongoing operations and maintenance
Shoreline Treatment Benched Seawall: Softer edge Habitat and filtering contaminated surface runoff Rip Rap bank + blocks: Modular for settling support Informal gathering at various scales Stepped Seawall: Access to water s edge Seating Views
