Dry ice cleaning with COOLMASTER
The latest in dry ice cleaning Heavily soiled motors, tools or production parts? Sensitive or hard to clean surfaces? Starting today, you can meet the widest variety of challenges with just one device: the COOLMASTER, the latest in dry ice blasting units. Developed with the aim of permanently changing the cleaning industry and providing a product which sets new cleaning standards in all industries, and this also improves companies economic efficiency. The COOLMASTER starts where other cleaning methods and devices reach their limits unbeatable for flexibility and range of applications. This makes it perfect for removing contaminants in all sectors. Particles of varying sizes, surfaces and degrees of soiling are cleaned efficiently and powerfully, yet gentle. At the same time it saves resources; it is less time consuming than manual cleaning and it reaches even the most difficult areas, it reduces the downtime of machines as they often do not need to be dismantled, and finally machine parts no longer need to be sent off for cleaning. The COOLMASTER sets itself apart with its ergonomic, modern design and provides the new standard in quality and performance.
Flexible, robust and versatile Due to its flexibility, the COOLMASTER can be used across all industries and removes dirt of any size from any surface. Highly robust and with a low level of noise, the COOLMASTER is especially suitable for permanent use in the industrial environment. The device sets itself apart with its performance and modern, ergonomic design Precise and thorough cleaning With the help of dry ice, the COOLMASTER is able to powerfully and effectively clean even the most sensitive surfaces and hard to reach areas. It works gentle enough not to cause any damage. The procedure is dry and therefore leaves no trace of water or detergent. Remedies of dirt particles can easily be disposed of after the cleaning process. Mobile and easy usage With a weight of only 36 kg, the COOLMASTER is a compact and portable helper which can be used readily with a small amount of training. The handling of the COOLMASTER is intuitive and through the guidance of the menu is easily managed with the control knob and LCD display. A built-in interface offers the possibility to individualize programs and settings for the option to connect automatic solutions. Optimizes workflows and saves costs It is no problem for the COOLMASTER to clean during ongoing operations. The loss of production through machine downtime and the amount of time necessary with manual or chemical cleaning procedures is reduced. Since is no damage to surfaces, it extends the lifespan of forms and tools, thus enabling a reproducible product quality. In addition, eliminating the use of chemicals increases safety. Economical operation The COOLMASTER uses an average of only 15-18 kg dry ice per hour which can be regulated and dosed with its innovating grinding system. For operating in the industry, already existing compressed air systems can be used, as the device only needs an average of 600-700 l/min of compressed air. The air pressure can be regulated which enables noise-optimized working. Environmentally friendly cleaning without any chemicals Cleaning with the COOLMASTER requires absolutely no water or chemicals. In addition, after the cleaning procedure no blasting residues are left so that there is no strain on the environment. The CO2 required for the production of dry ice is edible and is gained from natural resources in the earth or as recycled by-product of industrial processes.
The process of dry ice cleaning What is dry ice? Dry ice is produced from liquid carbon dioxide (CO2, carbon acid), a noninflammable, odorless natural gas. It can be found in large quantities in volcanoes and springs, as well as in plant or human metabolisms. A huge advantage of dry ice is the temperature of 78.5 C. On impact with a hard surface it immediately transforms from a solid to gaseous state and completely dissolves without any residues. This could be considered an essential characteristic in the use in cleaning procedures. How is dry ice produced? In a so called pelletizer, liquid carbon dioxide is relaxed under atmospheric pressure through a physical process. Thereby a part of it evaporates, thus depriving its environment warmth. The remaining carbon dioxide gets cooled and dry ice snow is formed. Afterwards it is pressed through a matrix of pelletizer resulting in solid and elongated dry ice pellets. The functioning of dry ice cleaning When cleaning with dry ice, the particles are used as blasting medium. With the help of a dry ice blaster like the COOL- MASTER, the particles are being accelerated to an extremely high speed with a stream of compressed air, and subsequently blasted on the object that needs to be cleaned. This creates three different effects which enable an optimal cleaning procedure. With the first effect, the kinetic effect, dry ice particles are accelerated to high speed. The following impact of the particles causes the second effect: as they hit the layer of dirt with -78,5 C it is cooled down, contracts and builds cracks. Through the different coefficients of thermal expansion the compound of surface and dirt is loosened. The third, and most important effect, results through the change of the physical condition of the dry ice particles: On impact the carbon dioxide directly transforms from solid to a gaseous state and expands about 700 times the volume within a split second. This expansion literally blasts off the dirt from the surface. At the end of the cleaning procedure the loosened dirt particles can be easily disposed of. Our revolutionary technology The grinding system is the core element of the COOLMASTER and one of the main reasons for its high cleaning power and flexibility. It is located directly inside of the machine and therefore works extremely precise, as compared to conventional dry ice blasting machines where the dry ice is shredded as late as in the blasting gun. The grinding system of the COOLMASTER is placed before the actual blasting process where it brings the pellets into a consistent size. After grinding, the dry ice particles are accelerated by compressed air and then blasted evenly and well-aimed onto the component that needs to be cleaned. Because of the specific arrangement of unique position of the grinding system within the dry ice blasting machine, the requirements for the compressed air supply are significantly lower than with other dry ice blasting machines. Furthermore the blasting gun is lightweight and handy, the cleaning stream works homogeneous and consistent. The operating principle 1 Hopper with pellets Compressed air Rotating dosing roller Your benefits at a glance: No blockage of the unit or grinding system due to technical reasons 2 3 4 Grinding rollers Blasting hose Blasting gun w. laval nozzle 6 Homogeneous and consistent cleaning stream Precise dosage of compressed air and amount of dry ice 5 Grinding size of the pellets between 0,2 and 3 mm Grinder settings: Depending on the structure of the surface the required size of dry ice particles can be set within seconds and adjusted to changing conditions. Whether coarse or fine, sensitive or robust, you can easily choose the suitable particle size between 0,2 and 3 mm with the help of the color coded area on the dosing lever. Choice of blasting nozzle: If the particle size is set, only the blasting nozzle needs to be connected with the blasting gun according to the color-coded area and particle size. The nozzles can be easily changed under all operating circumstances and just need to be screwed on the muzzle of the basting gun. Compressed air settings: Next to the setting of the particle size the adjustment of compressed air is essential for an effective and precise cleaning procedure. The homogeneous stream of compressed air allows a pressure of 0,5 to 10 bar and can be changed through the program in the menu. Default values are defined to make the compressed air settings as easy as possible. However it can also be adjusted individually and settings in the user menu.
