The appliance has a heated surface, persons insensitive to heat must be careful when using the appliance. Do not use on areas of sensitive skin. Burns can occur regardless of control setting. Check skin under pad frequently to avoid burning and blistering. Place pad on top of and not under the part of the body needing heat. Burns can result regardless of control setting. This pad is provided with a removable cover. Never use pad without cover in place. Do not sit on, or against pad - avoid sharp folds, or crushing. Do not use pins or other metallic means to fasten this pad in place. Never pull this pad by the cord and do not use the cord as a handle. Carefully examine inner cover before each use. Discard the pad if the inner covering shows any signs of deterioration (such as blistering or cracking). Use this pad only on a 220-240 volt AC circuit. Unplug when not in use. Do not tamper with this pad in any way. There are no user serviceable parts. If for any reason this pad does not function satisfactorily, contact HoMedics Customer Service. Do not use this pad with liniment, salve or ointment preparations that contain heatproducing ingredients. Could result in skin burns. Save these instructions. Use wherever hot applications are desirable for personal comfort, and whenever recommended by your physician for the relief of pain. 3

If you have any concerns regarding your health consult your doctor before using this product. Never leave the appliance unattended, especially if children are present. Never cover the appliance when it is in operation. Do not operate under a blanket or pillow. Never use this product directly on swollen or inflamed areas or skin eruptions. This product should never be used by any individual suffering from any physical ailment that would limit the user s capacity to operate the controls. This unit should not be used by children without adult supervision. Individuals with pacemakers should consult a doctor before use. Do not use the massage function for more than 15 minutes at a time. Extensive use of massage function could lead to excessive heating and shorter life. WARNING: Do not massage abdomen when pain is present. Do not massage areas that are swollen, inflamed, or covered with skin eruptions. Do not use on unexplained calf pain. Consult a GP before using any equipment of this type. Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by HoMedics; specifically any attachments not provided with the unit. NEVER operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Contact HoMedics Service Centre for examination and repair. Care should be taken when using heated surfaces. If the product feels excessively hot, switch off at mains and contact the HoMedics Service Centre. Keep cord away from external heat sources. NEVER drop or insert any object into any opening. To disconnect, turn all controls to the off position, then remove plug from outlet. This appliance is designed for personal, non-professional use only. DO NOT use outdoors. This product is a non-professional appliance designed to provide soothing heat and massage to worn muscles. Do not use this product as a substitute for medical attention. Do not use this product before bed. The massage has a stimulating effect and can delay sleep. Never use this product while in bed. Please ensure that all hair, clothing and jewellery are kept clear of the massage mechanism or any other moving parts of the product at all times. 4

Moist or Dry Heat TheraP heating pads can be used dry or moist for deeper heat penetration. Auto Heat Shut-off Control Control features 2 hour auto heat shut-off for convenience and safety. 5

IB-HP-M100-0912-04_Layout 1 20/09/2012 15:52 Page 6 INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE : Position Heat and Massage controls to OFF. Plug the adapter into a 220-240 volt AC outlet and plug the receptacle end into the input jack located along the side of the hand control next to the cord. Select Massage and Heat Settings: a. There are three heat and two massage settings that can be used independently or together. b. For heat, turn the dial to the desired level. To turn off, turn the dial back to the OFF position. c. For massage, slide the MASSAGE switch to the desired level. To turn off, slide the switch back to the OFF position. Important Note: Only one side of the pad will heat up. Refer to the label on the vinyl heating pad to ensure you have the proper side facing your body. Place pad over desired body area. Use the elastic straps to conveniently secure the pad to your body. Always allow air to circulate freely between the heating pad and the surface of the skin. When treatment is completed, turn unit off, unplug the power supply and store properly in a dry place. Caution: All servicing of this heating pad must be performed by authorised HoMedics personnel only. For Moist Heat Dampen the absorbent sponge with warm water. Gently wring out any excess water. Place the sponge on top of the heating pad and slip the cover over the heating pad. Close snap to secure. Plug pad into any 230 volt outlet and set control to the desired heat setting. 6

IB-HP-M100-0912-04_Layout 1 20/09/2012 15:52 Page 7 Automatic Heat Shut-Off This heating pad is designed for convenience and safety. As a special precaution against falling asleep while using the unit or unintentionally leaving the unit on while it s still in operation, it is programmed to automatically turn the heat off 2 hours after receiving your last heat command. To reactivate your unit after automatic shut-off, turn both controls to the OFF position and then reselect the desired settings. Any time you change your heat selection, the timer will reset. This special feature should not be considered as a substitute for OFF. Always remember to turn your unit off when not in use. The massage function is independent of the auto-off feature and should not be used for more than 15 minutes at a time. MAINTENANCE : To Store Place the heating pad in its box or in a safe, dry, cool place. Avoid contact with sharp edges or pointed objects which might cut or puncture the pad or cover. Do not hang the unit by the adapter or hand control cords. To Clean Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before cleaning. Unsnap the cover and remove the heating pad by pulling straight out. Unsnap and remove elastic strap from cover. The soft cover is removable and machine washable. Cover: Using a mild detergent, machine wash the cover in warm water on gentle cycle. Tumble dry on cool setting. Remove from the dryer. Heating Pad: Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to wipe the pad surface. Never immerse the pad completely in water. The unit can be line dried or wiped with a soft, absorbent cloth. Do not plug in the pad until the unit is completely dry. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, recycle it responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse of material resources.
