The Importance of Clean, Dry Compressed Air Why Do I Need a Drain? Did you know that a typical 75 horsepower compressor operating in an ambient of 75 F and 75% humidity, can produce 46 gallons of water in 24 hours? What happens to that water? Without a high quality drain, this water ends up in the plant air system as well as the equipment fed by the air system. All of this water then causes rust and corrosion which creates high repair and maintenance costs! Water Jeopardizes Everything You Want Your Compressed Air System to do. It Ruins Product and Fouls Processes. In addition to water, compressed air can also contain dirt, wear particles, and lubricating fluid Sludge blocks valves and orifices, causing high maintenance and costly air leaks Water mixes with these pollutants to form an unwanted abrasive sludge. Make sure all of your compressors, dryers, filters, storage tanks and drip legs all have an energy efficient drain installed. The trick is to remove the water without losing the air you have paid to compress. This can easily be achieved with an energy efficient Sullair zero air loss drain. What Type of Drain do I Need? This depends on the equipment on which it is being installed, and the amount of water it needs to remove. From inexpensive timed solenoid drains to high quality energy efficient drains, Sullair has a drain to fit every application. 3

The Ultra Zero Air Loss Drain The Ultra is designed to remove condensate from compressors and dryers up to 3600 scfm capacity. The operation is automatic and there is zero air lost during the condensate discharge cycle. The Ultra also offers many programmable features to allow it to be customized to the application. Alarm contacts can be programmed N.O. or N.C. Service alarm interval can be set, anti-air lock feature can be set, as well as many other features. It also offers an array of fault alarms should the drain stop functioning correctly. It also matches up nicely with large receiver tanks. The operation is automatic and there is zero air lost during the condensate discharge cycle. The Maxi uses a transducer to sense the presence of condensate and activates the valve and comes standard with an anti-air lock adapter and strainer service valve. The Maxi is available with N.O. or N.C. alarm contacts. It utilizes internal magnets for its power source requiring no electrical power. The operation is automatic and there is zero air lost during the condensate discharge cycle. No electricity required Zero air loss during the discharge cycle Designed for any size downstream filters Simple to install, easy to maintain Valve is fully serviceable 4 Timed Solenoid Drain The Timed Solenoid is designed to remove condensate from any compressed air application. It s unique design includes a built in shut off valve and strainer. The strainer protects the valve and orifice from becoming plugged with debris and the shut off valve allows for safe isolation from the air source when maintenance is performed. Drain Accessories Hose Pipe Connections Hose pipe connectors are a sure and simple way to install the discharge tubing. Anti-Air Lock Adapter The purpose of this adapter is to provide an air passage way in the filter bowl. This adapter is typically applied in combination with the Mini In-Line Strainer The specially designed in-line ball valve strainer allows for easy local shut off of zero air loss drains for maintenance purposes. Any debris is also caught in the mesh strainer protecting the drain from any blockages and reducing maintenance to a minimum. It is specially designed to prevent flow restrictions, which can cause air-locks.. 6
