Failure to observe these instructions, incorrect or improper installation, placement, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenance may cause property damage, personal injury or death. GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS Always wear fire / heat proof gloves when handling the Chimenea and fuel. Always place your Chimenea on a non combustible surface. If placing on grass, use a protective hearth (pavers or tiles for example) to prevent an accidental fire starting). Ensure surrounding grass is not too dry. Do not place the Chimenea on unprotected decking or tiles, always use a protective hearth underneath the Chimenea. Ensure the Chimenea is placed on a firm, level surface, not on a sloping surface. Do Not use the chimenena if it has been exposed to rain or water. Always allow the chimenea to thouroughly dry before firing. Do not block any air inlets to the Chimenea as this may cause the product to overheat. Avoid placing the product on thick grass or soft ground such as sand as this may block the air inlets. Position your Chimenea away from any building structures (house, pergola, garage, shed, trees, furniture). Check the weather forecast before using the Chimenea. Don t use your Chimenea during high winds. Never pour any liquid fuel onto a fire that is already alight. Make sure that the fire is completely extinguished before you leave the Chimenea unattended. Do not disassemble or modify the Chimenea in any manner other than as described within these instructions. Installation clearance requirements must be adhered to. Please read the section on installation clearances before installing or placing this Chimenea. Keep any combustible materials (such as unprotected decks, furniture), at least 1.5 metres away from the Chimenea. While the Chimenea is operating or hot, do not touch the main heating surface or immediate surroundings as these areas may be hot and could cause burns. Do not overfill or overload the chimenea - Always observe maximum fuel load recommendations - Do not allow wood to spill out of the chimenea body. If overloaded, excess flames and heat may damage the chimenea. Do not use the Chimenea for any purpose other than its intended use. USING YOUR CHIMENEA IMPORTANT: BEFORE ASSEMBLING OR USING YOUR CHIMENEA FOR THE FIRST TIME Always position your Chimenea on a firm and level surface. Follow all operating & safety instructions in this manual prior to using your Chimenea for both the first time and subsequent uses. The chimenea should be kept covered and dry at all times when not in use - to avoid any stress or damage when operating. If the chimenea has been wet at any time - always allow the unit to dry completely before lighting and use. In particularly cold regions where snow and ice may be present, the chimenea must be covered and protected from the elements - never operate the chimenea if ice has collected on the body or flue. IMPORTANT OPERATING TIPS SMALL FIRE TO START BUILD FIRE GRADUALLY NEVER EVER OVERLOAD THE CHIMENEA FUEL TYPE & LOADING This Chimenea is designed to burn wood only. Do not burn coal or coal briquettes. The chimenea is designed to burn small logs - approx 100mm / 4in in diameter or less (as a guide) and a total fuel load not exceeding 3-4 KGS at any one time. Exceeding this recommendation may damage the chimenea. FIRST FIRING When using the Chimenea for the first time - always start with a SMALL fire and allow this to run until the initial fuel load is burnt through. This will assist the Chimenea materials to cure and settle. Excessive fuel when starting will cause excessive, undesirable smoke. STARTING THE FIRE Use a small amount of kindling and some fire starters - or wadded newspaper to get the fire started.ensure the fire is burning well before adding more fuel. Once the kindling is well alight, you can slowly start to add some more firewood. and allow the fire to build naturally. Add firewood as required. Nut never overload the chimenea it is uneccessary and a waste of fuel. Sufficient heat will be radiated from the chimenea with just a small load of fuel at any one time. SAND EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE DO NOT use cold water to extinguish the flames as this may damage chimenea. Generally, the fire should always be allowed to die out naturally. However, if immediate shutdown of the fire is required, use sand to smother the flames. As a safety precaution, always remember that coals can remain hot and glowing for a few days. When emptying the chimenea for cleaning or maintenance, always use a steel bucket to retain left over coals and sand. Page 5

CARE AND MAINTENANCE Maintaining and caring for your Chimenea is easy, with just a few simple steps to follow. IMPORTANT TIPS: Never clean the Chimenea when it is hot or still contains hot coals. Always allow the Chimenea to cool completely before cleaning or maintenance. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, sprays or highly abrasive cleaning tools. Do not use high pressure water blasting devices to clean the surfaces of the Chimenea body as this may damage or remove the surface coating. Always check any cleaning product on a small area of the underside of the product to confirm it is safe to use. AFTER EACH USE Chimenea: Empty the sand and any debris from chimenea into a metal container or bucket. Remove any debris from the sand. Sand may be reused but avoid using sand that is wet or damp as this will increase the rate of corrosion of the steel fire bowl. Gently clean (wipe) the chimenea with a damp sponge using a mild detergent and warm water. Rinse off the chimenea body with clean water and allow to dry. PERIODIC MAINTENANCE Depending on the amount of use - at least once or twice a year - the Chimenea should be cleaned according to the care and maintenance instructions supplied in these instructions. The chimenea should be inspected to ensure it is not cracked or split. In the event the chimenea is cracked or split - it should be replaced. To maintain the look of the chimenea, it should be periodically re-painted, using a high temperature paint. (Available from your retailer). When choosing a suitable paint, only use high teperature paints designed for stoves or fireplaces. STORAGE When not in use, the Chimenea must be protected from exposure to the elements: e.g. Sun, Wind, Rain, Dust, Snow and Ice. Cover the chimenea at all times when not in use or move the Chimenea to a covered outdoor space or store the unit in a dry environment, for example, a garage or suitable storage space. Page 6
