DATE: August 8, 2017 TO: Surface Mine Reclamation Workshop Attendees SUBJECT: 2017 Surface Mine Reclamation Workshop (October 4th, evening, October 5 & 6) Enclosed are the 2017 Surface Mine Reclamation Workshop Program, Registration Form, and other forms. The workshop begins Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Holiday Inn- Aggieland 2500 Earl Rudder Freeway College Station, TX 77840. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. Please have your conference registration form returned by September 21, 2017. A $20.00 late registration fee will be applied on September 22 and thereafter. The workshop will end on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. The workshop will feature an area for posters and commercial displays. Educational posters are encouraged. The concept of this display area is two-fold. First, mining companies, agencies, and educational institutions are urged to prepare poster displays of current and completed projects that may be of interest to the other attendees. Second, commercial companies are encouraged to display the capabilities of their companies. Space will be provided to mining companies, agencies, and educational institutions for poster displays free of charge. Space for commercial displays will be assessed at $100.00. However, the $100.00 fee will be waived, and you will receive one free registration for any commercial company that donates $250.00 to help defray costs for the workshop breaks. Companies that donate $350.00 to help defray costs of the workshop mixer will also receive the free commercial space and two free registrations. We will provide a table (about 2x6), if needed. We will not be able to furnish boards for the posters. Companies sponsoring a break or the mixer need to send their company logo to ahairston1@tamu.edu in order to be recognized at the event. We have reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn- Aggieland under "Surface Mine Reclamation Workshop. Please call 1-800-465-4329 to reserve your room. We have been able to secure the block of rooms at the special rate of $110. The reservation deadline for this block is September 13, 2017. Check-Out is at NOON on October 6, 2017. Information on additional hotels may be found online at the Bryan-College Station Convention and Visitors Bureau website http://www.visitaggieland.com by clicking on Accommodations. We again will host the 21st Annual Surface Mine Reclamation Workshop Golf Tournament, 9th Annual Trap and Skeet Shoot, and 5th Annual Surface Mine Reclamation Photo Contest. In addition, on the evening of October 4th, we will again be having our 7th Annual 42 Tournament. Participation in the golf tournament, skeet shoot, and 42 Tournament will be a first come, first served basis only. More information can be found on the enclosed flyers and registration forms. NOTE: The registration forms are different for the poster display and for the meeting. Please submit the name(s) of the person(s) staffing your booths by September 21, 2017, so that the required nametags can be prepared. Photos must be taken in reclaim areas of a surface mine in Texas. 3. Entries must be received no later than September 25, 2017. 4. You may not manipulate the photo by adding or removing objects (including signatures and borders) and you can t use special effects. 5. You may crop, rotate, resize, sharpen, convert to black and white, adjust white balance, apply color corrections and adjust light levels so long as they do not violate rule 4 by adding new objects to the photograph. 6. Exhibit Form for Commercial Displays Exhibit Space A special exhibit area has been set-aside. Each space is $100.00 and includes a six-foot table and two chairs. You may bring your own freestanding display as long as it is no larger than 8 x 8. Due to space limitations and accommodating maximum number of displays 8 x 8 is the maximum size area you will have available.
