Additional Safeguards This appliance is for household use only. A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If long detachable power-supply cord or extension is used: -- The marked electrical rating of the cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. -- If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding 3-wire cord; and -- The longer cord should be arranged so that it does not drape over the countertop or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally. GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS US ONLY The appliance has a plug that looks like Figure A. An adaptor, as shown in Figure B, should be used for connecting a 3 -prong grounding plug to a 2-wire receptacle. Before first use OPERATION Remove all packaging materials, labels and/or stickers from your appliance. Check package contents for completeness and damage. Do not operate the appliance if package content is incomplete or appears damaged. Return it immediately to the dealer. CAUTION: Danger of suffocation! Packaging materials are not toys. Always keep plastic bags, foils and Styrofoam parts away from babies and children. Packaging material could block nose and mouth and prevent breathing. NOTE: Always use the appliance with the crumb tray (9) (ill. a ). Place the appliance on a clean, flat and heat resistant surface. Connect the plug (4) to a suitable wall outlet (ill. d ) ( Using the appliance). NOTE: The appliance may produce an odor and emit smoke when switched on for the first time, as residues from the production process are eliminated. This is normal and does not indicate a defect or hazard. When using the appliance for the first time, it is recommended to operate it for at least 2 times on its highest setting ( Operation), until no odor or smoke is present. During use, ensure ample ventilation. CAUTION: Never let the power cord (5) come in contact with the housing of the appliance during use. Let the appliance cool completely. Clean the appliance ( Cleaning). Using the appliance Use the appliance for toasting of fresh or frozen toast/bagels or to reheat previously toasted toast/bagels. NOTE: The appliance has a rated power of 900W. Before plugging it into the wall outlet, ensure that the electrical circuit is not overloaded with other appliances. This appliance should always be operated on a separate 120V ~ 60Hz wall outlet. Make sure no food or other objects are inside the toasting slots (1). Place the power cord (4) in the cable cut-out (3) to ensure the appliance is level. Place the appliance on a flat, level, heat resistant surface. OPERATION Make sure the crumb tray (9) is inserted properly (ill. a ). Insert the power plug (4) into a suitable wall outlet (ill. d ). Remove any protective wrappings from foods before placing them in the toasting slots (1). Do not toast torn food, as it may become lodged in the toasting slots (1). This appliance is equipped with a lift up function to assist in removing toasted/ reheated food from the toasting slots (1). Pull the toasting lever (2) upwards to lift the toasted/reheated food slightly higher for easier removal (ill. i ). Once you have finished toasting/reheating food, unplug the appliance from the wall outlet. NOTE: The toasting lever (2) will not remain in the downward position, unless the appliance is connected to an energized wall outlet. CAUTION: Toasted/reheated food and toasting slots (1) get hot, pay attention when removing toasted/reheated food. Switch on and off To switch the appliance on, push the toasting lever (2) downwards, until it locks in place. To switch the appliance off, press the CANCEL button (11). The toasting lever (2) will be released and return to its up position. Do not force the toasting lever (2) up. Always use the CANCEL button (11) to switch the toaster off. Toasting function Place the bread slices into the toasting slots (1) (ill. b ). Select the required browning level with the browning control knob (10). Choose between levels 1 to 7, according to your preferences (ill. c ). Press down the toasting lever (2) (ill. e ) until it locks in place. The toasting process begins. During the toasting cycle, the CANCEL button (11) is illuminated. NOTE: To stop or interrupt a toasting cycle, press the CANCEL button (11) (ill. g ), the contents of the toasting slots (1) will pop up and the appliance turns off. The CANCEL button (11) will no longer be illuminated. Do not force the toasting lever (2) up. Always use the CANCEL button (11) to switch the toaster off. The toasted food will pop up, once the toasting cycle has been completed (ill. h ). OPERATION Reheat function Use the reheat function to reheat previously toasted food. Place the previously toasted food into the toasting slots (1) (ill. b ). Press down the toasting lever (2) (ill. e ) until it locks in place and press the REHEAT button (7) (ill. f ). During the reheat cycle, the CANCEL (11) and REHEAT (7) buttons are illuminated. NOTE: To stop or interrupt a reheat cycle, press the CANCEL button (11) (ill. g ), the food in the toasting slots (1) will pop up and the appliance will turn off. Both CANCEL (11) and REHEAT (7) buttons will no longer be illuminated. Do not force the toasting lever (2) up. Always use the CANCEL button (11) to switch the toaster off. The reheated food will pop up, once the reheat cycle has been completed (ill. h ). The CANCEL (11) and REHEAT (7) buttons will no longer be illuminated. NOTE: Changing the level of the browning control knob (10) has no impact on the duration of the reheat cycle. Frozen food function Use the frozen food function to toast food from the freezer. Place the frozen food into the toasting slots (1) (ill. b ). Select the required browning level with the browning control knob (10). Choose between levels 1 to 7, according to your preferences (ill. c ). Press down the toasting lever (2) (ill. e ) until it locks in place and press the FROZEN button(6) (ill. f ). During the frozen food cycle, the CANCEL (11) and FROZEN (6) buttons are illuminated. NOTE: To stop or interrupt a toasting cycle, press the CANCEL button (11) (ill. g ), the contents of the toasting slots (1) will pop up and the appliance turns off. The CANCEL (11) and FROZEN (6) buttons will no longer be illuminated. Do not force the toasting lever (2) up. Always use the CANCEL button (11) to switch the toaster off. OPERATION The toasted food will pop up, once the frozen food cycle has been completed (ill. h ). The CANCEL (11) and FROZEN (6) buttons will no longer be illuminated. Bagel function Use the bagel function to toast bagels. NOTE: Bagels have to be cut into half. Do not force them into the slots (1). NOTE: When using the bagel function, place the inside of the bagel facing the center of the appliance. During the bagel function only the heating elements in the center of the appliance are used. Place the bagel halves into the toasting slots (1) (ill. b ). Select the required browning level with the browning control knob (10). Choose between levels 1 to 7, according to your preferences (ill. c ). Press down the toasting lever (2) (ill. e ) until it locks in place and press the BAGEL button (8) (ill. f ). During the toasting cycle, the CANCEL (11) and BAGEL (8) buttons are illuminated. NOTE: To stop or interrupt a toasting cycle, press the CANCEL button (11) (ill. g ), the contents of the toasting slots (1) will pop up and the appliance turns off. The CANCEL (11) and BAGEL (8) buttons will no longer be illuminated. Do not force the toasting lever (2) up. Always use the CANCEL button (11) to switch the toaster off. Combining functions It is possible to combine the bagel function with the frozen/reheat function. BAGEL Reheat function OPERATION Press down the toasting lever (2) (ill. e ) until it locks in place and press the BAGEL (8) and REHEAT (7) buttons. Both buttons will be illuminated. Reheat function will start with a lower power setting. Frozen function Select the required browning level with the browning control knob (10) (ill. c ). Press down the toasting lever (2) (ill. e ) until it locks in place and press the BAGEL (8) and FROZEN (7) buttons. Both buttons will be illuminated. S Cleaning Proper maintenance will ensure many years of service from your appliance. Clean the appliance after every use. The appliance contains no user serviceable parts and requires little maintenance. Leave any servicing or repairs to qualified personnel. CAUTION: Always ensure the appliance is switched off. Disconnect the plug (4) from the wall outlet. Allow all parts of the appliance to cool down completely. NOTE: Do not immerse the power cord with plug (4) or appliance into water or any other liquid. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool or scouring pads. Dry all parts thoroughly after cleaning, before using or storing the appliance. Ensure that no water enters the appliance housing. Never use any metal utensils to remove lodged food, as this may result in personal injuries and damages (ill. k ). Clean the surface of the appliance with a soft damp cloth or sponge and a mild detergent. To clean the crumb tray (9), pull it out of the appliance completely. Dispose of any crumbs. Rinse the crumb tray (9) with water and a little detergent. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth (ill. j ). Storage Cleaning Before storage, always make sure the appliance is completely cool, clean and dry. It is recommended to store the appliance in a dry place. Store the power cord (4) in the cord storage (5) underneath the appliance (ill. l ). Store the appliance on a stable shelf or in a cupboard, preferably in its original packaging. To avoid accidents, ensure that both the appliance and its power cord are beyond reach of children or pets.
