TOWN OF NORFOLK RECYCLING/TRANSFER STATION NEWSLETTER FOR SPRING 2018 The Town of Norfolk Solid Waste Division continues to provide an integrated, cost effective and environmentally sound means of solid waste disposal for its Town Residents. The Solid Waste Division promotes and encourages recycling efforts and will provide as many recycling opportunities as possible where economically feasible. Success in this endeavor is dependent upon developing and maintaining a cooperative relationship with our community. For your reference, this newsletter includes a list of Recyclables and Hazardous Waste materials currently accepted at our Facility. For your convenience, we also offer other Special Services, which are detailed in this newsletter. LANDSCAPE MATERIALS: The Norfolk Recycling/Transfer Station has expanded on the availability of landscape and construction materials to its residents. Please check inside for more information including a fee schedule. ONLINE & MAIL-IN DECAL SALES: Once again, Vehicle Decals will be available through an online payment service and by mail beginning in May 2018. Access our online form at the pay bills online link on our website, norfolk.ma.us. Applications for mail-in will be available at the Town Hall, Transfer Station and the Solid Waste Division webpage. If residents wish to purchase Decals at the Transfer Station Facility, Decals will be available after July 1 st with an added cost of $5.00 per Decal. The mail-in service is available all year. Decals are offered to Norfolk residents (limit two per household) and are required to access the facility. Decal Cost: 1 st Vehicle (Standard) - $65.00 or ($60.00 Online & Mail-in Discount) 1 st Vehicle (Senior) $45.00 age 60 or over 2 nd Vehicle (Additional) - $10.00 or ($5.00 Online & Mail-in Discount) DISPOSAL OF RECYCLABLES: Please separate recyclable items (refer to chart inside), and dispose of at designated areas. DISPOSAL OF TRASH: Please dispose of solid waste at the compactor. Solid waste must be in a bag and weigh no more than 35 lbs. This bag must have a disposal sticker attached and the sticker must be in plain view of the attendant. The fee for disposal stickers is $2.50 each. SPRING COMPOST AVAILABLE: The Recycling/Transfer Station is pleased to announce the availability of compost & wood chips. Compost and Woodchips are available in the Spring: During Recycling/Transfer Station Hours Wednesday: 11:00 am 7:00 pm Saturday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Cost: Residents with current decals: NO CHARGE per 30 gallon container - picked up at the Facility Residents without decals: $ 1.00 per 30 gallon container picked up at the Facility Deliveries: Call the DPW Office to schedule Deliveries Scheduled between the hours of 7:30 a.m. 3:00 p.m. (Tuesday, Thursday & Friday) $ 50.00 Delivery Fee per trip for ALL deliveries (deliveries average 8 cubic yards). See Materials Fee Schedule for costs For additional information please call 528-4990 ROLL-OFF CONTAINER RENTAL AVAILABLE: The Recycling/Transfer Station is offering the rental of 30 cubic yard roll-off containers to ALL Norfolk residents and businesses for a maximum period of 4 weeks - Call for more information 528-4990. COST: $200.00 - due upon delivery (includes 2 week rental) $50.00 per week for up to 2 additional weeks Plus Disposal Cost (one ton minimum) PICK-UP SERVICE AVAILABLE: The Recycling/Transfer Station is offering residential pick-up service for large items Cost: Pick-up Service: Disposal: $ 40.00 per trip $ 15.00 per item or call for an estimate on multiple items $ 15.00 for items containing freon (Refrigerators, air conditioners & dehumidifiers) $ 25.00 per piece for mattresses and box springs All items must be in the driveway or easily accessible. BAG STICKER VENDORS: Please remember that the bag stickers are available from commercial suppliers and must be purchased in quantities of at least five at a time, as it is a burden to these establishments to sell them individually. These stickers are only available at the following locations: Main Street Hardware, Wayside Building, Main Street, Norfolk Roche Brothers, Rt. 109, Millis Norfolk Food Mart, Rt. 115 & Main Street, Norfolk We would like to extend an invitation to the residents of the Town of Norfolk and welcome you to utilize our Recycling/Transfer Station. Residents currently using a curbside pick up service Please feel free to come and tour the facility. There are many services available to you that you may not be aware of with the purchase of a vehicle permit. For example: Disposal of oil, antifreeze, lead batteries and household batteries. Collection area for yard & brush waste Donations are accepted for charities; Red Cross, Community Clothes Recycling, St. Vincent DePaul, Big Brother/Big Sister, Lions (eye glasses), King Philip Music Association (returnable bottles and cans), Norfolk Schools (cell phones & printer cartridges), Big Hearted Books, Friends of the Library (books) Leaf mulch and wood chips available at no additional cost The following organizations also offer residential pickup of donated items: Big Brother/Big Sister Foundation 1-800-483-5503 St. Vincent DePaul 1-800-675-2882 The staff at the Recycling/Transfer Station would like to thank you for your continued support.
