Seller Insight Before purchasing their home the owners had led a life associated with the Royal Navy. They then needed to live near Cambridge and be able to travel into London and to Coventry regularly, so good links were of upmost importance. It was also necessary to have a large family home to accommodate themselves and their four children. When they saw The Manor House they immediately fell in love with it. It met all the criteria. It had recently been completely renovated, so all they needed to do was to add a few finishing touches. The house has large, impressive rooms, but although it is a big house it still has great warmth which is enhanced by the many beautiful period features. One of the most striking of these is the beautiful hand-carved Jacobean staircase, which was installed by Sir John Leman and is reputed to be the oldest in Huntingdon. The grounds are also stunning, say the owners, and the gardens are split equally between the front and the back of the house. We have four lawns, which we have enjoyed for family sports and games. One lawn was formally a kitchen garden. Last year there was a reception for 400 people when we hosted a full Royal Marine band which performed on the front lawn. There was a marquee at the back of the house; it was a truly memorable day. The house is situated on the edge of the village and enjoys wonderful views of the church, neighbouring paddocks and fields. The house is in a convenient location for schools with excellent road and rail links. The area also has excellent essential services. To the north of the main house is a 16th Century brick barn, which has been faithfully restored. The building has been converted to provide a selfcontained apartment, and a large open social area with offices. These are able to be let out if preferred. This is an outward looking house, says the owner, and so I think it is the views that we shall miss the most, but also the space and the ability to entertain the wider family. We have had some wonderful times here and we ll be sad to go.

Each of the rooms is beautiful and they all have their own attributes, but one of the most dramatic is the formal dining room. The owners anticipated that they would have to host a number of formal events during their time at the Manor House and the dining room with its generous proportions and beautiful features has, over the years, provided the perfect backdrop to many wonderful occasions.
