EBC0 EXHAUSTO Alarm OK Reset EBC0 EXHAUSTO Alarm OK Reset Components for chimney fan system for constant draught for single or multiple boilers The Chimney Fan Systems are utilised in connection with single or multiple boiler installations where there is a need for design flexibility, maintained energy performance of the appliances or guarantee against spillage of the products of combustion. Use The use of an exodraft Chimney Fan System provides a constant draught in single boiler installations. This offers great possibilities within flue and chimney design. The stepless adjustable fan motor and the electronic control ensure a controlled and constant draught which guarantee optimum combustion and better heating economy. Large savings on flue systems and installation costs are available by downsizing of flue diameters and chimney heights. The exodraft Chimney Fan System is also suitable for multiple boiler installations connected to a single header and chimney system. When a multiple boiler installation is based on natural chimney draught, the flue and the chimney must be calculated for maximum load, with all boilers running. Most of the time only some of the boilers will be in operation, leading to insufficient chimney draught, condensation and loss of boiler efficiency. The mechanical chimney draught provided by the exodraft fan system ensures that the chimney system has the correct negative draught regardless of heat load or the atmospheric conditions. Operation When heat is required from the boiler, the chimney fan is started by the automatic controller EBC0 at the maximum speed and sets up the required chimney draught. The chimney draught is constantly controlled by a sensor in the flue. Upon reaching the required chimney draught, the burner is released to start. A change in pressure within the flue system caused by either a change in heat load or atmospheric conditions is detected by a sensor and the EBC0 modulates the speed of the fan to keep the draught constantly at the required value. To balance the exhaust draght from the individual boiler a Model EKG mechanical restrictor damper can be installed in the section of flue connecting the appliance to the chimney. The control system is developed to meet BS 50: Part (008), BS 66 (005), and other relevant European standards for fail-safe operation. The selection of the system components for each individual system are calculated using design software developed by exodraft in accordance with EN8. Components for mechanical draught system for boilers/gas waterheaters connected to same chimney (SE-/U-Ducts/concentric ducts) The exodraft mechanical draft system offers a solution to the challenges posed by condensing boilers and gas waterheaters in tower blocks as well. It provides a guaranteed controlled draught that eliminates the risk of accumulation of combustion products. 5 Use The Chimney fan systems are utilised in multi-storey residential buildings with gas water heaters or boilers that are connected to one chimney/se-duct/u-duct. The systems are especially suitable for installation of condensing water heaters onto existing SE-Ducts/U-Duct where constant and guaranteed draught conditions are vital for the safe performance of the water heaters. Operation The constant draught in the system is obtained by the means of an exodraft chimney fan installed on top of the chimney/duct that is controlled by the exodraft EBC0 controller that has been developed for use with modulating boiler operations. The EBC0 sensor is installed between the chimney fan and the top water heater; it will constantly monitor the draught inside the duct and modulates the speed of the fan to keep the draught constant irrespectively of heat loads and changes in weather conditions. To balance the exhaust draght from the individual boiler a Model EKG mechanical restrictor damper can be installed in the section of flue connecting the appliance to the chimney. Should the chimney draught fall below the level required for proper exhaust venting the EBC0 provides an interlock. This can be achieved by a gas solenoid valve in the main supply line. Alternatively individual boilers can either be shut down by cutting off the gas or electricity supply by using our ES relay box. All exodraft products come with two years warranty. 6 Components for chimney fan system for bakery ovens An exodraft mechanical chimney fan system can ensure that the required draught is available to ensure energy efficient baking results every day throughtout the year irrespective of any external influences or changes in the required output. Use The exodraft chimney fan system can be used to achieve a constant and optimum pressure in the chimney for single or multiple bakery ovens connected to a common chimney stack or flue system. The exodraft chimney fan system can also be used to achieve design flexibility in the flue/chimney system or in connection with a heat exchanger, to provide heat recovery and optimum performance on single or multiple bakery ovens. The exodraft chimney fan system guarantees the pressure is kept at the required level at any given time irrespectively of changes in heat load, external influences or variations in pressure around the oven. This stable and optimum pressure in the flue and chimney helps to ensure the efficiency of the oven and allows for consistent baking results. Operation The purpose-designed exodraft chimney fan modulates the fan speed to maintain the optimum pressure in the flue for the ovens. exodraft fans are temperature rated up to 50 C on continuous operation. The exodraft fan is controlled through the EBC controller, an on-demand controller that maintains the precise draught by constantly monitoring the pressure in the flue for the burner and signaling the fan to adjust the speed ensuring a constant and optimum pressure level for the bakery ovens. The control system is developed to meet BS 50: Part (008), BS 66 (005), BS EN587-:007 and other relevant European standards for fail-safe operation. The design of the optimum system components for the individual system is calculated using design software developed by exodraft in accordance with EN 8. . Components for chimney fan system for industrial applications 7 The exodraft chimney fan system can be used on high temperature fume extraction in other industrial applications such as forges and coffee roasting ovens. The fan system can also used to maintain the combustion efficiencies of appliances used to heat fluids in pickling plants. Use & Operation The chimney fan can be used singularly or in multiples using a plenum box to increase the volume of gases extracted. The fans are infinitely adjustable, adaptable to all service areas and modes of operation and can also be integrated into existing control systems. The fans are controlled by the EBC0 controller which monitors the pressure/draught in the flue system and modulates the speed of the fan to keep the draught at the desired value. If the draught can not be maintained the appliance is turned off. An alarm relay is activated for remote monitoring if required. If several heat sources are being used our ES relay box is available. The EBC0 system consists of an EBC0 controller, which can be positioned anywhere, and a pressure transducer (XTP sensor) which is positioned in the chimney. Function The EBC0 controller monitors and maintains a specific draught by maintaining a constant pressure. The pressure in the chimney is measured by the XTP sensor. If the draught falls outside the set value the speed of the fan is modulated to achieve the target draught. If it is not possible to maintain the draught at or above the set point then the controller will automatically disconnect the boiler(s). The correct chimney draught gives optimal operating conditions for the boiler(s), and in so doing provides the best possible financial return on the heating system. Sequence of events in Pressure Regulation Mode for example: y When the boiler thermostat signals the need for heat, the chimney fan is set to full speed. y Once the control unit measures sufficient draft (via the XTP sensor), the boiler(s) are fired. y Should the draught drop below preset value, the boilers will disconnect, but only after a delay of 5 seconds in order to avoid unnecessary cut-outs in the system. Features y Input and output to boilers standard y Easy to install y Easy to set-up (icon-based user interface) y Operational conditions monitored on all input and outputs using diodes Additional options By changing the set-up, the EBC0 can also function as a -stage regulator

For example, the diameter of the spigot of an FR-00 is Ø 97 mm, designed to fit into a chimney opening with a Ø 00 mm diameter. The flange range caters for all types of chimney fans and chimneys. Flanges with diameters other than those shown in the table can be made to order. If dilution air is required, it is important to take the increased capacity need into consideration when sizing the fan system.

Installing a chimney fan 5 The chimney fan is installed on top of the chimney. The chimney fan is supplied as standard with adjustable location brackets, armoured powercable, a safety wire and a mineral wool mat, which ensures vibration-free operation. When installing a fan onto a brick chimney the location brackets are fitted under the chimney fan. If the chimney fan is to be fitted onto a steel chimney, then a flange and vibration dampers must be used instead of location brackets The flange, which includes vibration dampers, must be ordered separately. NB! If the chimney has been used previously to a fan being installed, then it should be cleaned before the chimney fan is switched on, thus reducing the risks of a chimney fire. Commissioning of the system The chimney fan system must be commissioned to the exact site conditions before use for the system to work correctly. See installation manual for details. Hiding the chimney fan Installation of exodraft chimney fans on top of chimneys can sometimes be difficult due to special site conditions such as listed buildings or special architectural demands. For those installations it is possible to make the fans virtually invisible. Contact exodraft for assistance if such a solution is needed. Service and maintenance The chimney fan should be inspected often and cleaned when needed (at least once a year) depending on the type of fire fuel. When the fan is open, it is easy to clean it while the chimney is being swept. The chimney fan must always be running when there is a fire in the fireplace, stove or boiler. exodraft provides a twoyear manufacturer's warranty. The exodraft warranty does not include damage caused by fire.
