ISSUE 07 - May 2014 Fire & Security Association of India Gujarat Chapter President s Message Greetings to All!!! It is indeed a moment of pride for FSAI to publish another edition of much awaited Bi-monthly Newsletter FSAI BUZZ. On behalf of Fire & Security Association of India, I am very happy to say that we have once again taken a leap forward in promoting awareness about Fire Safety and Security in India through this newsletter. India development story is likely to see many more High Rise Buildings & large building projects in near future where Fire Protection, Life Safety and Security would become a major challenge if not taken care of by the Construction Industry during design / implementation & commissioning stages. Thoughtful integration of Architecture with electrical, mechanical, plumbing and structural Engineering holds the key for an environment friendly and Safe Building design. FSAI has been working in close coordination with other engineering societies like ISHRAE, IPA, IGBC etc., for encouraging an integrated development. Lack of proper guidance due to non-availability of proper guidance & educational material in this field has been a big challenge for the industry since long. The Building Codes and Standards developed by government agencies have become outdated and need to be revised as per todays needs so that they can guide the industry in correct direction and FSAI has been very active in this respect. FSAI through its various chapters have been very successful in organizing programs in educational institutions to inculcate the importance of Fire Safety in children at a young age so that they can grow into responsible citizens. I earnestly urge all the Companies and Manufacturers related to Life Safety and Fire Protection to come forward and help FSAI in this noble cause of spreading awareness in a big way. I am happy to say that the FSAI Team has done commendable task by publishing the knowledgeable Newsletter which would turn out to be very useful in promoting the science of fire safety & security engineering in India. Once again I would like to offer my special appreciation towards all the team members of FSAI chapters for supporting the cause. Sincerely, Pankaj R. The feedback which we have received from these people who visited our booth from the industry is very overwhelming. They also feel we need to take some strong initiatives which can cover a wide range of society to spread awareness i.e. awareness among the general public is the need of the hour. In the past few years we have noticed lot many Fire Accidents & have learnt lot from them but still there is wide gap which need to filled up. The initiatives which FSAI is taking up & had taken in past are well taken by the industry people. FSAI will keep the spirit of good work & plan programme in future as per the need of the Society. Message from the President: In his forward message for the ACREX booklet, Mr. Rajan Luthra, President FSAI emphasised that the need for human comfort, convenience and enhanced safety has led to widespread adoption of advanced technology. In this quest, Life Safety and Security Systems are becoming more and more integral to our homes and work places apart from HVAC systems. The burning need for optimizing energy consumption and reducing carbon emissions without compromising on comfort and productivity requires Intelligent Building Management Systems (IBMS) to deliver tangible results. These domains, where FSAI is the premier industry body in India, are of equal concern to both organizations and the primary reason why our partnership has found perfect resonance. It is also heartening to note that the theme of the event Aiming Towards Carbon Neutral is extremely relevant and must be supported by each and every one of us as we are all equal stakeholders in this goal.
