IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following: 1. Read all instructions. 2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. 3. To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid. 4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. 5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance. 6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to Salton for examination, repair or adjustment. See Warranty. 7. The use of accessories or attachments not recommended by Salton may cause hazards. 8. Do not use outdoors. 9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. 10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. 11. Prior to connecting or disconnecting plug from wall outlet, turn any control to "off". 12. This appliance is for Household Use Only. Do not use appliance for other than its intended use. 13. Do not leave unit unattended while in use. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 2

POLARIZED PLUG This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way. DESCRIPTION OF PARTS 1. Cover 2. Sealing Wire 1 3. Suction Nozzle 4. Polyethylene Roll (Polyethylene Film) 4 5. Indicator Light HOW TO USE Make the Bag 2 3 5 1. Place the unit on a flat, level surface and plug into a 120 volt outlet. 2. Lift the cover and place the Polyethylene Roll so that it unwinds from the bottom of the Roll. 3. When starting a new Roll, pull the Polyethylene Film about 1 /2" (1.25 cm) over the Sealing Wire and make sure that the Polyethylene Film lies smoothly. 4. Close the Cover and make a seal on the Film by pressing down both areas that are marked sealing on the right and left hand corners of the Cover. The Indicator Light will go on and remain on for 10 seconds. DO NOT SEAL LONGER THAN 10 SECONDS. When the Indicator Light goes out release pressure on Cover. NOTE: The sealing time can be shortened by simply lifting the Cover. 5. Lift the Cover. Remove excess 1 /2" (1.25cm) of Polyethylene Film. Unroll Polyethylene Film to the desired bag width and seal again.(follow directions in #4 above) This will simultaneously create the first seam for the next bag and separate the current bag from the rest of the Roll. NOTE: DO NOT MAKE THE BAG LONGER THAN 11" (27.5 cm) AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEAL THE TOP OF THE BAG. 3

Filling the Bag 1. Fill the bag. NOTE: If the contents contain liquids, the maximum bag size should be 8" (20cm) and these should be filled only half full. 2. Ensure that the area to be sealed is completely dry and clean. Sealing Bag without Air Extraction 1. Place the open end of the bag over the Sealing Wire making sure that the Polyethylene Film lies flat. 2. Close the Cover and press both areas marked Sealing. 3. The bag is now sealed. Sealing Bag with Air Extraction 1. Place the open end of the bag over the Sealing Wire with the lower edge of the bag under the Suction Nozzle and the upper edge of the bag over the Suction Nozzle. 2. Close Cover. 3. Press Cover on the right side only, over the word Suction. The Bag will begin to collapse as the air is being vacuumed out. 4. Once the air has been vacuumed out of the bag, press the Cover in the areas marked Sealing. (See #4 in Produce the Bag Section ) IMPORTANT: DO NOT EXTRACT AIR FROM BAGS CONTAINING LIQUID. THE LIQUID WILL BE DRAWN INTO THE SUCTION NOZZLE AND WILL DAMAGE THE SEALER. 4

HELPFUL HINTS Do not seal bags for longer than 10 seconds. Let the appliance rest for 2 minutes after every sealing cycle otherwise the product may be damaged. Sealing Wire will be hot during and immediately after use. Do not extract air from bags containing liquid. The liquid will be drawn into the Suction Nozzle and will damage the Sealer. Ensure that the Polyethylene Film lies smoothly over the Sealing Wire. Ensure that the area to be sealed is dry and clean. If the Polyethylene Film adheres to the Sealing Wire, unplug unit and slowly pull Polyethylene Film off the Sealing Wire. Do not re-use bags. Allow approximately 1-1/2" (4 cm) between the food and seal to allow room for expansion when cooking or freezing. Food can be labeled by using a ball point pen and writing anywhere on the bag. CARE AND CLEANING Unplug unit from outlet and allow Sealing Wire to cool. Clean by wiping with a damp cloth. If necessary, clean Sealing Wire with a dry cloth or paper towel. NEVER IMMERSE UNIT IN WATER OR ANY OTHER LIQUID. 5

A short supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards of becoming entangled in or tripping over a long cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounded 3-wire cord. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top, where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
