Please read all of the information provided in this user s guide before operating your new AirOn unit. WARNING This AirOn unit is not a medical device. Do not stop or alter any medical therapy programs or medications without the advice of your physician. Excessive ozone concentrations may cause mucous membrane or respiratory irritation. Q: What is an ozone alert? A: Ozone alerts in cities are a result of the high pollution levels of hydrocarbons produced by the burning of fossil fuels. When ultraviolet rays from the sun strike hydrocarbons, O3 is one of the by-products. Ozone is easily detected and is sometimes used as a reference point for the level of pollutants. Q: How does it compare to air filters? A: AirOn does not rely on the air to actually pass through the machine to be cleaned like air filters. It s not a filter at all. AirOn produces both activated oxygen which reduces odors and negative ions which settles out particulate. Q: Is ozone safe? CAUTION RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK DO NOT OPEN ATTENTION Caution: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK, DO NOT OPEN THE DEVICE COVER. NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICING TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL. A: Yes, but moderation is the key. Ozone, in a very high concentration, can be irritating to mucous membranes and the respiratory system. We recommend you place the device in an appropriately sized area. The two different models equate to the approximate size of space the device should be operated. Before using AirOn you should read the enclosed instructions carefully. Q: Where should I place the AirOn in my home or office? A: The AirOn device should be placed in the room where you have the most pollutants. The device is easy to move so you might want to try it in a couple of locations to help decide what works best for your environment. An elevated location is better to distribute ions and activated oxygen more evenly. Q: How long will AirOn last? This bolt of lightning indicates that uninsulated material within your unit may cause an electrical shock. For the safety of everyone, do not remove product covering. This exclamation point calls attention to a feature for which you should read the enclosed literature carefully to prevent operating and maintenance problems. A: Because of the quality material and superior craftsmanship that goes into each AirOn device, you will enjoy it for many years. Q: Is it difficult to install? A: No. Just plug it in and the device operates automatically. Install the AirOn device in any room, but try to find a place where it can be up off the ground. Some customers prefer to have more than one unit to better control levels of activated oxygen throughout their space. V1.2
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: What does AirOn do? A: It treats the air in your home or office by breaking down odor causing pollutants and dropping out airborne particulate in your breathing space. Q: How does AirOn treat the air? A: The AirOn device produces ozone and negatively charged ions, the same effective cleansing agents that nature uses to treat outdoor air. Q: How does the AirOn work? A: It s a two-stage process: 1. The AirOn device uses ionizers to drop dust, smoke, and other harmful particles from the air we breathe. In our homes and offices there is a lack of negative ions and an abundance of positive ions. The buildings we spend most of our time in block out the natural occurring negative ions. The AirOn device recreates the natural balance of positive to negative ions, significantly reducing airborne particulate. 2. The AirOn device uses electricity to split oxygen (O2) molecules into single O1 atoms, which attach loosely to other O2 molecules to become O3 (activated oxygen). This loosely attached oxygen atom is unstable and seeks to bond with chemical compounds and other odor causing pollutants in order to oxidize them. Q: How does nature produce ozone? A: Ozone is created electrically during active thunderstorms. The electrical discharge creates a fresh, sweet smell. Ultraviolet rays from the sun that pass through hydrocarbons in our atmosphere also create ozone. Waterfalls and ocean waves can also contribute to natural ozone production. Q: How does nature produce ions? A: There are no known ill affects related to an abundance of negative ions. Quite the contrary, negative ions are known to stimulate plant growth, purifying air, kill bacteria, relieve hay fever, dispel fatigue, lift depression, increase productivity and promote a general sense of well being. In nature, negative ions are produced by radioactive gasses, cosmic radiation, falling water, plants and ultraviolet rays. They are found in abundance at the seashore, in forests, near waterfalls and on mountains Congratulations on your purchase. You have obtained a state-of-the-art air purification system. Understanding the Model R10 / R25 Air Purifier (Front/Top View) IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS To reduce the risk of burns, electric shock and fire, this product must be used in accordance with these instructions. Before operating the unit, inspect for visible damage. Do not open the case for any reason Connect only to 110/120 volt AC (alternating current). Keep the unit away from water or other liquid. Never immerse unit in liquid. Never use the electrical cord as a handle. Never pull the unit by the electrical cord. Individuals with serious respiratory illness, including asthma, should consult a physician before using this product. Opening the case can be dangerous, and will invalidate the warranty. MAINTENANCE There are filters to clean or replace. Check your filters periodically. Replacement filters have been provided. TROUBLESHOOTING Boost Fan Grill PART FUNCTION PUSH control switch activates the boost option. The unit will operate automatically based on the internal programming. A 30 min boost setting may be accessed by pressing the on/off Boost while the unit is in operation. Non-Removable fan grill. Internal programming controls the negative ion generator separate from the activated oxygen control. Negative ions can be created around the clock to keep down dust and particulate. Ozone or activated oxygen is normally kept at modest levels in occupied spaces. To remove heavy odors, the units may be boosted to a higher level for a period of time. Unused O3 reverts back to O2 in about an hour. The Service indicator light is located on the right to signal the user that the Unit might be operating outside of expected norms. An error self regulating on and off within a 24 hour period will flash Amber two times. Failure of the unit to begin operation or an internal error, will light up solid Amber. If you suspect a problem with your unit, check the following: Make sure the filter is clean (see above). Unit is plugged properly, turned on, and wall outlet is active. Check the f use to make sure it is installed properly and not burned out. To replace fuse, push in and turn fuse holder to the left. Remove old fuse and replace with a spare. (Unplug the unit first) It is important that AirOn be properly grounded to avoid potential shock. Two flashes indicate either the treated area is too large or an internal error is not allowing the unit to shutdown properly. Diagnose this error by moving the unit to a smaller area that should allow the unit to reach internal set points and shut down the unit automatically. Turn off the device for 10 seconds, then back on to reset the service indicators. If the fan is not operating, the service light does not flash, or activated oxygen cannot be detected after turning the unit off for 10 sec and then back on, call the Warranty Service Number listed on the back of the unit or located in this manual. Caution: No attempt should be made to open the unit, as there are no user serviceable parts. Opening the unit will void all warranties.

OPERATION / INSTALLATION Basic operation is to choose a desired location that isn t too close to objects and/or furniture that may not allow good circulation for the air to be treated and maintained efficiently. With your Unit location chosen, plug your power cable into back of Unit first and then plug into receptacle outlet. Turn switch to the on position (located on back, above power cord.) The Unit should come on immediately with the Green Power indicator light and Blue On indicator light. The Unit is programmed to automatically turn on and off so that when your area has reached proper output levels and will shutdown the O3 output (Blue light will go off). If Owner/User wants any extra run time and Unit has turned itself off, press the Boost button for an uninterrupted 30 minutes of run time. After the 30 minutes is over the Unit regulates normally. If user presses Boost and doesn t wish for it to run the full 30 minutes, press again to return to normal. DETERMINE YOUR SQUARE FOOTAGE Here s how to determine the Square Feet setting for your home or office: Measure total area of each room to be treated. Add area of room(s) together for total area to be treated. Note: If doors are open to another room, add that area also. Measure total enclosed area. The customer may use more than one AirOn unit in order to better control levels of activated oxygen in different areas of your home or office. The concentration of ozone will be higher in the immediate area of the unit. Example: To determine the total square feet of area to be treated. The Ionizer is designed to run independently from the activated oxygen production. The ionizer can be used around the clock to keep down dust and particulate. Ozone, however, should be kept at modest levels in occupied spaces. Ozone s primary application is to control odors. The O3 that is no used is reverted back to O2 in about an hour. When they arrive the air is fresh and clean. Individual sensitivity to activated oxygen and preference may vary and should be adjusted accordingly. The effect of activated oxygen on indoor air may vary according to atmospheric and/or environmental conditions such as altitude, humidity, air movement, severity of existing odors, house design, and square footage. Altitude: Generally, in higher altitudes the requirement for activated oxygen decreases. Warning: Excessive ozone concentrations may cause mucous membrane or respiratory irritation and can be harmful. Humidity: Generally, in higher humidity the requirement for activated oxygen increases. For optimal treatment of air in your designated area, your unit can be set on a tall piece of furniture. Allow three inches between the back of your unit and the wall to allow proper airflow. Fan speed is normally set in the medium range. The reason for elevated placement of the unit is that activated oxygen is heavier than air. Elevated placement allows for better circulation. It is suggested that the purifier be placed in the room that is close to the primary source of the odor.
