Jane Austen s Hampshire Suggested One Day Itinerary Literary fans have always been drawn to Hampshire to follow the life of Jane Austen. Jane is one of England s most celebrated novelists and Hampshire played an important part in her life, not just as the place she lived but as inspiration to many of her novels. Built in the 12th century as a monastery, it later became the home of the Byron family.
