Luxaflex Luxaflex aluminium blinds have a well-earned reputation for technical reliability and durable construction. They are highly functional and extremely decorative. Hunter Douglas is constantly working on technical improvements and introducing new decorative ideas. We use the best materials, aluminium alloys and paint systems in conjunction with automated assembly methods to manufacture a product that represents true value for money. Luxaflex 16 mm (Microblind UMB2520) and 25 mm (Fineblind UFB2520) blinds are constructed as follows. Head rail The head rail is a U-shaped steel or aluminium section, 25 x 25 mm, roll-formed and stove-enamelled, incorporating the tilt/raise and lower mechanism. The end caps are colour co-ordinated. Slats The slats are 16 or 25 mm wide. They are made from a special aluminium alloy, treated by a special process. The slats are stove-enamelled, making them resistant to abrasion, peeling, scratching, dulling, discoloration and corrosion. Bottom rail In most cases the bottom rail is made from diamond-shaped seamless steel, 9 x 20 mm, stove-enamelled, with colour co-ordinated end caps. Raising and tilting mechanism The lift cords are 1.2 mm thick braided polyester with a core of rayon threads. They are linked by a connector to a single lift cord with a cord pull on the end. The cord lock holds the blind at any height and prevents the cords from fraying. The ladder cords are made of polyester. The tilt mechanism, operated by a translucent rod, holds the slats in the required position. The stop and slipping clutch prevent the slats from tilting too far, thus avoiding damage to cords and ladders. Application options - standard windows - special shaped windows - side guiding - turn and tilt windows - double glazing façades/control - separation wall/partitions - plastic window frames - curtain walling façades - hold down brackets - front fix Specially for VDU-workers (computer in the office) - Duo-flex zones - Multi perforated zones Operating options Option: Monocommando system built into the head rail, with self-braking drive mechanism and crank rod or ball chain or cord operation. Option: 24V electric motor built into the head rail to drive Monocommando system. Option: Tilt Only Electric motor built into the head rail to drive a tilt mechanism operated by remote control. All moving parts are self-lubricating.
Features and operation Colours All visible components are colour coordinated to the colour of the slats (with the exception of the mirror-finish slats). Any colour can be supplied to order for largescale projects. Also more colours in one blind is optional. Standard operating options 1.raise/lower right, 2. raise/lower left, 3. raise/lower right, 4. raise/lower left, tilt left tilt right tilt right tilt left Operating options Electric tilting by remote control Electric Tilting by means of infra-red transmitter/ receiver. Raising is manual by means of a cord. The receiver is installed in the head rail. A cable with a standard length of 25 cm connects the receiver to the motor. The transmitter with 2 channels can operate several venetian blinds separately or simultaneously. Motor powered by battery pack or transformer. The Monocommando system is powered by a built-in electric motor. There is a choice of separate switches, group operation, infra-red remote or solar control. Monocommando Single blind, by switch control Single blind, remote control The blind can also be operated by an endless cord, which both tilts the slats and raises and lowers the blind or by crank-rod operation by means of a drive mechanism built into the head rail. The crank rod is either attached to the blind, detachable or supplied with an extension to operate through double glazing. Group operation, by switch control Group operation, remote control

For free hanging blinds, an extension bracket can be used when required to stand off blind from an obstruction. Specially for PVC turn and tilt windows, these TAT-brackets should be used. Part A to be clamped at the top rim, part B to be clamped at underside for fixation of sideguiding. For standard fixation of the complete blind on e.g. doors, use standard side guiding bracket or hold-down clips for bottomrail fixation only.
Fitting and applications Frontfix In many cases, the blind needs to be fitted on face, while hanging in recess to the glass. Special corner pieces can be screwed to the (plastic) window frame (or in the glassbead) and an aluminium valance beautifully covers the gap between window frame and headrail. 60 12 37 45 2 45x16 20 9 15.6143 Double glazed blinds For hanging between panes (double glazing) a specific fitting bracket is available. Operation is possible as a standard cord operation or as a motorized monocommando. In cases where raising/ lowering of the blind is not needed, and only closing/opening is sufficient, there is a build-in rotation knob available for the tilt function only (see separation walls, page 7).
Specially for VDU-workers (computer in the office) Lightline : the only venetian blind without holes Luxaflex developed a special technology to assemble the perfect blind. A Lightline Blind has no holes, which means: no reflections on the computer screen and is for this reason very suitable on all façades where a direct infalling sun will be perfectly covered. Also ideal for optimal security and privacy (e.g. separation walls). Available as 25 mm only, in all colours also with Duo-flex option. Not available for monocommando. Traditional Venetian Blind Luxaflex Lightline Blind Duo-flex (1) On special request Luxaflex can assemble your blind such, that there is one section closed, and one section opened at the same time. This is suitable for maximum daylight into the office, while shading the underpart of the window to prevent blinding and reflections on the screen. In same blind one can create 4 situations: 1.top section open, bottom closed 2.top section closed, bottom open 3.totally opened 4.totally closed Not available for monocommando. 1. 2. Special Perforation (1) On request Luxaflex blind can be supplied with 8% perforation (of total strip surface) for 25-50 mm blinds or 4% perforation for 25 mm blinds. The 4% perforation is an ideal solution for south façades with high illumination like direct sunlight where outside visibility is also required. Blind closed Top 8% / Bottom 4% Multi-Strip (1) On special request Luxaflex can assemble your blind with 2 or more colours of strip. An ideal option is to combine normal strip and perforated strip. Duo-flex Multi-Strip Combines the Duo-flex feature with Multi-Strip.
Other features Special colours (1) Luxaflex offers the widest standard colour range in the market. Luxaflex can deliver on special request also every colour, including RAL colours specified and agreed by you (subject to quantity). Thermostop strip (1) Saving energy in winter and summer. A blank aluminium backside with special protective transparent coating for a 3 times lower emision of heat radiation (emision value 0.3 i.s.o. o.9 for a normal painted slat). It increases the thermic resistance in winter and decreases the inside warmth transfer in summer. Available in a limited range of colours. Winter inside 3.1 W/m 2 k without blind 2.1 W/m 2 k with blind normal strip 1.6 W/m 2 k outside Summer inside 100% without blind 30% with blind normal strip* 23% outside with blind Thermostop with blind Thermostop* * with ventilation Separation walls/partion screens An aesthetic fusion of design & function. Inside the building there can be many reasons to integrate venetian blinds with glass separation walls: daylight transfer in public areas like bankbuildings, schools, libraries or improved privacy in office landscapes, restaurants, hotels, police offices or for high hygienic reasons in e.g. hospitals, laboratories, cleanrooms, kitchens etc. All operating options are available, from a robust rotation knob for tilting only to full motorisation. Special shapes (1) In modern architecture the windows are shaped with much more design freedom. Therefore the Luxaflex venetian blind program also offers round and sloped blinds as shown. For feasibility of irregular shapes and prices please contact your local Luxaflex dealer. (1) These options are not standard. For every specific request please contact your local Luxaflex representative for minimal order quantities, delivery conditions and prices.
