GET OUT AND EXPLORE THE CITY OF NEENAH PARKS & SURROUNDING AREAS! Parks provide a sense of place for many of our citizens. All kinds of parks are important as a place to gather, celebrate, mourn, or connect. DID YOU KNOW....? The City of Neenah has 25 parks. The oldest park is Green Park (The Green) established in 1843 (That s older than New York City s Central Park)! There are 6 heated shelters and 10 seasonal shelters available for rent. Oakhill Cemetery is considered a park and is said to be the second oldest municipal cemetery in continual operation. A majority of benches and a lot of the trees in the parks are in memory / honor of someone. Doty Cabin, the historic home of James Duane Doty is part of the park system and is open to visitors June through Labor Day, Noon 4:00PM daily. Park Treasure Hunt Rules & Procedures GOALs: To explore a sampling of Neenah s wonderful parks & surrounding areas To get outside for quality family time TO HAVE FUN! SUPPLIES: Park Treasure Hunt Clue Book Compass (smart phones often have one) or a good sense of direction. City Map or GPS device to find your way from park to park HOW TO PLAY: Simply read the questions, follow any instructions and answer the questions in your clue book.

Happy Trails Treasure Hunt Did you know some of the benefits of community trails and greenways? Recreation One of the most direct benefits of community trails and greenways is the close to home, accessible recreation opportunities they provide. Transportation In addition to being corridors for recreation, trails and greenways can function as nonmotorized transportation corridors for pedestrians and cyclists. Healthy Living Many people realize exercise is important for maintaining good health in all stages of life; trails and greenways provide a safe, inexpensive avenue for regular exercise for people living in rural, urban and suburban areas. Economics and Property Appreciation Trails are becoming common in residential neighborhoods. Development plans for homes, apartments, and townhouses often include footpaths to enhance recreational opportunities and property values. Environment Greenways protect important habitat and provide corridors for people and wildlife. Safe and Livable Communities Trails promote safe and livable communities. The recreation, health, transportation and environmental benefits collectively can contribute to an overall enhanced quality of life in communities.

Park Treasure Hunt Clues 1: The opposite of Small Southern will be the first park you start. Where are all of the electrical outlets located? 2: Next, head to the park where all of the Friday Tennis Tournaments take place and the most little league baseball diamonds are located. (Refer to the 2018 summer guide). Once there, find the Basketball court and face the Tennis courts. What do you see to your right? 3: Go to the park that is off of a road with the name of the 7 th letter of the alphabet and the name of a race that a person has to complete 26.2 miles. Once there, find the large green circle with black dots. How many dots are there? 4: Head to the park that has the same name as a type of ant. How many orange rocks are there on the ladder that goes up to the tree house? 5: Go to the location of the future splash pad. Walk up the sledding hill and look north. What do you see at the bottom of the hill in the ground? 6: Go to the park that has a piece of playground equipment the shape of the mascot for Neenah High School. Find the alien. How many fingers does it have? 7: Head to the park that had its grand opening on June 23, 2018. Find the statue with rings. How many rings does it have? 8: On the bridge, sit on the bench that says, We invite you to sit, to reflect, to daydream. How many water towers do you see in the water?
