Cabinet Options The types of cabinets that you choose will impact the look and function of your kitchen. Below are a few examples of standard cabinets. Base cabinets Providing the foundation for your countertops, these cabinets store the majority of your cookware, appliances, and utensils. Doors Drawers Corner Wall cabinets Mounted directly to your wall, these cabinets provides easy-to-reach storage for plates, glassware, and dry foods. Cupboard Above Appliance Corner Tall cabinets Spanning the entire height of your cabinet arrangement, these cabinets are a great addition to your cabinet run but can also stand alone as a separate storage unit. Cabinet Features Organization and countertop space are key to every working kitchen. You want the right tools to be easily accessible along wih having the space to balance prepping and cooking. Cabinet features make it easy for your space to meet all of those needs. They provide storage for many on-counter tools and cooking staples without sacrificing easy accessibility. Lazy Susan Cutlery Drawer Base Pullout The convenience of this classic in-counter turntable has stood the test of time. This unique design provides an organized way to store cutlery. Choose our two-tier option for double the storage capacity. On-counter staples such as flour, sugar and coffee can be out of sight but readily available. Recycle Center Keep trash and recycling bins out of sight and conveniently accessible. Mixer Lift Create more counter space in your kitchen by storing your mixer and accessories all in one spot. More There are a lot of options. Talk to your designer for cabinet features that fit your needs. Founder s Choice Cabinetry Kitchen Planning Guide - 7

kitchen planning guide Visualizing Your Layout Layout Considerations It is essential to take kitchen traffic, space for doors, and appliance placement into consideration when planning a safe and organized kitchen. Your designer will ensure that your layout improves the efficiency and appearance of your kitchen. When planning your layout it is important to place the main three workstations, your fridge, stove, and sink, in a triangle. This ensures easy movement between each major appliance. Cabinets Features Considerations Finishing Touches Mapping Your Space Measurements Appliances Personalize Appliances Appliance doors on your dishwasher, oven, and fridge also need to be accommodated in your layout. Safety Take safety into consideration when arranging your appliances. Pay attention to stove clearance, protected surfaces, and proper ventilation. Storage Plan your storage needs ahead of time. Knowing what you will access regularly and store for long periods of time will ensure proper cabinet size and placement.

To provide ample space, walkways should be 42 for one cook and 48 for two. House traffic should not pass through the work triangle in order to avoid crowding. Founder s Choice Cabinetry Kitchen Planning Guide - 9

Finishing Touches Finishing touches help to define the look and feel of your design. These additional options allow you to achieve your desired style and give a completed feel to your kitchen. Crown Molding Crown molding can be used to make your cabinets match the style of your home. Cabinets may be left without crown for a clean, simplistic look. However, with the addition of crown moulding you can achieve a more polished appearance. Decorative End Panels Also known as Plant on Doors, these can be added to any end panel whether it s located on the end of a cabinet run or island. We build these decorative panels to complement the cabinet door style you have chosen, providing a finished look and traditional style to your kitchen. Knobs & Pulls Choose from our many collections of knobs and pulls to complement your kitchen style. Talk to your designer for cabinet accesories to fit your uses. Mapping Your Space Accurate measurements of your existing kitchen are essential to the design process. In order to provide accurate measurements for your designer, there are a few tools you will need: Founder s Choice Cabinetry Layout Grid Pencil Tape Measure Founder s Choice Cabinetry Kitchen Planning Guide - 13

kitchen planning guide Visualizing Your Layout Step 1 - Basic Measurements Walls - Start from wall A and take measurements clockwise. Openings - Note the location, width, and height of doors and windows. Make sure to include the trim in your measurements. Cabinets Features Considerations Finishing Touches Mapping Your Space Measurements Appliances Personalize 3 Ceiling Height - Measure from the finished floor to the finished ceiling. Take three separate measurements at different points in the area. This is very important to make sure there is a consistent height to be working with.

Step 2 - Add Appliances As you make your way across each wall, measure to the center of your oven, stove, and fridge. Also note the width of each appliance. Appliances need to be included to ensure that the cabinets will fit into the space properly. If you have purchased new appliances, we will need sizes and model numbers. This will ensure your new appliances fit per the manufacturer s specifications. Sink Center - It is important to take note the center of your sink. This will give your designer the centralized area of your home s hot and cold water lines, electrical outlet, and drain from the previous installation. Founder s Choice Cabinetry Kitchen Planning Guide - 15

kitchen planning guide Visualizing Your Layout Step 3 - Personalize This is where your kitchen really becomes tailored to you. Start thinking about what features you will need in your day to day use, focusing on the ideas rather than dimensions. You want to come away with a kitchen perfectly suited to your lifestyle, so it s okay to take some time to plan it out. Your designer will take all of your measurements and features into consideration to create the perfect design for your home. A rendering of the design will be done so that you can visualize how the design will look in your space. 147" 24" 1 1 2" 30" 36" 30" 1 1 2" 24" 36" 73 1 2" 73 1 2 " 1 1 2" 18" 36" 1 1 18" 2" 36" 132" 24" 12" 25 1 2 " 36" 34 1 2" 79 5 16" 52 11 16" 12" 1 1 2" 36" 3" 1 1 2" 21 1 8 " 9 112 16" 1 16" DCW2436L W1236L RW3618 HGP 4734 UP2490 OC3390 F0336 KRFC704FSS DL S - L F0330 F0336 4 ROLL OUTS F HB 153415L W3036 W3618 W3036 B18L 2 ROLL OUTS F0330 KNIFE SLOT DRAWER MICR O/OVE N W/ WAR MING DR WR FHB12R SPICE PULLOUT KCGS556ESS 3DB36 COOKTOP NESTED CUTLERY B18R 2 ROLL OUTS F0330 F0336 DLS-L F0330 T IP OUT T R AY 1 R OL L OUT SB36 DCW2436R 47 16" 3 K-3171-NA KDTE104ESS B18R W2736 3DB24 3DB24 WOODE N R E CY CL E P UL L OUT 14 1 4 " 1" 36" 36" 24" 18" 29 11 16" 2" 85" 32" 31" 48" 38" 24" 62" 27" 4" 117" 15" DEPTH EXT STILES 1.5" MITERED FRAME HGP6434 Founder s Choice Cabinetry Kitchen Planning Guide - 17

What To Expect We work with outside contractors to install your cabinets and countertops. You can remain in your home during the installation but won t have access to a functional kitchen. Replacement A Replacement won t change the layout but will replace the selected cabinets and countertops. Choosing a new color scheme and cabinet design can drastically improve the look and feel of your space. The Replacement process will take a minimum of 2 weeks. Remodel A Remodel is a great option for improving function and efficiency in your kitchen design. Rather than simply replace existing cabinets and countertops, a remodel allows for more freedom and creativity. As with any remodeling project, a kitchen remodel often includes moving utilities and can take up to 5 weeks. Next Step Finish filling out the layout grid with your measurements and bring them into your designer. 1517 South Tacoma Way Tacoma, Wa 98409 founderschoice.com
