Press Release CALENDAR LISTING Contact: Miles Hakoda, (808) 956-3093 February 29, 2008 College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources Urban Garden Center to hold open house on March 8 Event features activities for the entire family to enjoy WHAT: As part of its Centennial Celebration, the Urban Garden Center in Pearl City, operated by the University of Hawai'i at MÇnoa's College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, invites the public to an Open House. The free event will offer tours of the 30-acre facility, educational displays, plant doctor, a plant sale and more. WHEN: Saturday, March 8, 2008 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. WHERE: Urban Garden Center 955 Kamehameha Hwy. (near Home Depot) CONTACT: For more information, call 453-6050. About the Urban Garden Center The Urban Garden Center officially opened to the public in June 1994. It serves as a major community outreach site for the University of Hawai'i at MÇnoa's College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources. Since its opening, the Center has offered hands-on educational programs to clientele ranging from elementary school students to senior citizens and from home gardeners to agribusiness professionals. The primary resource of the Center is a 30-acre display of a wide range of tropical and native Hawaiian plants, food crops, landscape and medicinal plants, and an educational resource library. 9
