1 Car alarm control 1) By remote-control Depending on the installation, the car alarm can either be controlled with an RC-8x car alarm controller, see paragraph a), or with an original remote control used for locking the car, see paragraph b). Please follow the article which corresponds to the type of installation in your car. a) By RC-8x car alarm controller Setting: The car alarm is set by pressing a button on the remote control. If a central locking system is installed, the car is concurrently locked. Partial setting: When the remote control button is pressed repeatedly (within 15 seconds of alarm setting), partial setting takes place (confirmed by an acoustic signal). The inside of the car is not guarded by wireless internal detectors and so neither a voltage drop detector nor any supplementary detectors are activated. Unsetting the car alarm: The car alarm is unset by pressing a remote control button. If the car is equipped with a central locking system, it is concurrently unlocked. The buttons on the right side of the controller can also be used (programmed) for different functions e.g. the remote control of garage doors, gates, light in the garage or house, etc. More information is available from the installer or from the manufacturer. b) By the original car remote control Setting: When the car is locked with its remote control, the car alarm is set concurrently. 3 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 3 18.5.2010 9:25:34

Partial setting: When you dial the car alarm number from an authorized phone (see the next paragraph), the car alarm switches to partially set mode 3). The inside of the car is not guarded by wireless internal detectors and so neither a voltage drop detector, nor any supplementary detectors are activated in this mode. Unsetting the car alarm: Unlocking the car with its remote control also unsets the car alarm. 2) Remote control via your telephone With the SMS commands: Set / unset / check vehicle status car alarm functions can be controlled via a mobile phone. The car alarm is able to send alarm messages and dial up to 4 telephone numbers (hereinafter the authorized phone ) when an alarm is triggered. The authorized phone can be used to send commands by means of SMS messages to the alarm phone number (see the table on the following page). By dialling in from authorized phone numbers 3) : If the car alarm is controlled with RC-8x controllers, you just need to dial the car alarm number (the ignition key must be switched off). The car alarm will not answer the call (i.e. the call is not charged for) and its status will change (set unset set...). If the car alarm is controlled with an original remote control, dialling in will activate partial setting only (see paragraph 1b). The car alarm may confirm the change of status with an SMS message 3). If you forget the wording of SMS message commands, you can ask the alarm unit for help by sending the HELP command. 4 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 4 18.5.2010 9:25:35

The xx..x password can consist of 4 to 8 characters (A to Z and 0 to 9), the default one is USER Only basic ASCII can be used in the SMS command texts. Ask the installer to edit the SMS commands for you. 1) Only with the CA-1803 2) The service must be supported by your GSM provider 3) The function must be set by an installer 5 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 5 18.5.2010 9:25:35

3) Controlling from a different phone The car alarm can also be controlled with SMS command messages from an unauthorized phone. In such a case you have to add a user code (password) in the command SMS before the command. The text should be as follows: PASSWORD space COMMAND. The default user code (PASSWORD) is USER. You can change the password using a command from the table above or ask the installer to do it for you. An example of setting a car alarm with an SMS message from an unauthorized phone is: USER AM An example of requesting an SMS with help is: USER HELP 2 D Other services The car alarm can also be used for securing a garage, cargo space, a caravan, etc. 6 Wireless detectors: Up to 8 wireless detectors can be enrolled to the car alarm. Depending on their type, they react to the breaking of windows, motion or smoke. The detectors guard the inside of the car, possibly even its outside up to a distance of approx. 20 meters. After setting the car alarm, an exit delay of 20 seconds is provided to all enrolled detectors (e.g. for leaving the garage). If a detector is triggered while the car alarm is set (and within reach of the detector), the alarm is triggered either immediately or after 20 seconds of the entrance delay (depending on the detector settings). Detectors can be enrolled as internal or external ones. Internal detectors are not active when the car alarm is partially set, e.g. when you leave a dog in the car. External detectors are always enabled when the system is set. The detectors (sensors) are powered by batteries with a lifetime exceeding 1 year. When the batteries are low, the system sends an SMS message. Should you need more information, contact the installer or the manufacturer. 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 6 18.5.2010 9:25:35

3 Alarm car intrusion Alarm: If the car is guarded by the car alarm and one of the sensors is triggered (opening of door, bonnet, detector activation etc.), the siren sounds for 30 seconds 4). Alarm SMS messages are sent, or optionally, calls to the authorized phones (up to 4) are made 5). An alarm can be terminated: by pressing a remote control button by sending an SMS command to unset the alarm from a mobile phone Unsetting the alarm will terminate the sending of SMS messages and calling. You will subsequently receive an SMS confirming proper alarm termination. When the car alarm is controlled with the RC-80 wireless keyfob, alarm termination will only switch off the siren, but the car will remain secured and locked. It can only be unlocked with repeated pressing of the unset button. Reduction of the number of alarms: If an alarm is triggered repeatedly by the same sensor (e.g. a faulty bonnet sensor) at a time when the alarm is set, then this sensor is bypassed after 3 triggered alarms. It will be re-enrolled when the alarm is set again. Remote switching of the siren: The siren can also be triggered remotely from authorized phones using the SIREN SMS command. This command will switch the siren on for 30 seconds. The siren can be triggered off with the SIREN OFF command. 4) A siren alarm can be disabled by an installer 5) If calling in the case of an alarm having been activated and you answer the call, you will hear the sound of a siren. If the car is equipped with a handsfree set, being able to listen in to the sounds in the car interior will be subsequently triggered. 7 7 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 7 18.5.2010 9:25:35

4 Signalling 1) Acoustic signalling with the alarm siren The car alarm informs the user about its status by siren chirps. The chirps for unsetting, setting and setting with a triggered input (e.g. open door) can be disabled. Other chirps cannot be disabled due to their importance. Warning! If the car alarm has no GSM signal at the time of setting, it chirps six times. The car alarm is thus unable to transmit SMS messages and make calls. Chirps Meaning 1x Setting 2x quickly Partial setting 2x Unsetting 3x Unsetting after an alarm 4x Setting with a triggered input 6x quickly GSM network is not available 2) LED indicator in the car The LED indicator is used to show the car alarm status. The table below describes its individual meanings. Warning! If the LED indicator starts flashing quickly after the ignition is switched off, it indicates that there is no GSM signal and it will not be able to send any messages or make a call in the case of an alarm. LED state OFF Permanently ON Flashes slowly Flashes quickly Interrupted flashing Before switching the ignition on After switching the ignition on Meaning Unset A phone call or connecting to a GSM network Set GSM network is not available or alarm has been triggered Car blocked (immobilized) Flashing indicates wireless detector activation Flashing indicates the number of enrolled controllers 8 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 8 18.5.2010 9:25:35

5 Car location and immobilization 1) GPS (CA-1803 only) When you enter the GPS command, the car alarm will respond by sending you the last known GPS location. If the current location is unknown (the car is parked in an underground garage etc.), the car alarm will send the last known position. The car can be tracked temporarily with the GPS ON command in which the car alarm sends car position information in 1-minute intervals (only for 15 minutes). The message is adjusted for the phones capable of web browsing. Coordinates are given in the link form, with which can show the location on the Google Maps website. An example of an SMS response with a GPS position: The car alarm reports: Position: (GMT:3.12.10:35) http://www.google.com/ m?q=+50.7285+15.1777&site=maps, Time:3.12.09 11:35 (GMT:3.12.10:35)................. Greenwich Mean Time (prime meridian) http://www.google.com/m?q=+50.7285+15.1777&site=maps.................................... link for the location on the Google Maps website 6) +50.7285+15.1777.................... geographic latitude and longitude Time:3.12.09 11:35................................. current local time 2) LOCATOR If the SIM card used in the car alarm supports the possibility of finding an approximate position of the car in a GSM network, the LOCATOR command will find out where the car is located 2). 2) 6) The service must be supported by the GSM operator The direct link to the Google maps is an additional feature for more comfort for users. JABLOTRON ALARMS is not responsible for its proper function in case some changes on the Google maps web page. 9 9 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 9 18.5.2010 9:25:35

An example of an SMS reply with a GSM position: +44603012345 Region: South East England, District: Greater London, Name: Kingston-upon- Thames. Distance approx 5.4 km. E14*52 1 @ N48*50 24, + -500m 11:35:01, 03.12.09 3) Remote blocking of the car (IMO) The car is immobilized by blocking the immobilization circuit every time the car alarm is set. However, if the keys are stolen, the car can also be blocked remotely. If you send the IMO command to the car alarm phone number, you will receive a confirmation SMS. The immobilization circuit will be blocked immediately if the ignition key is off. If the ignition key is on when the car alarm receives the command, the circuit will be blocked as soon as the ignition is switched off. This will be confirmed to you by an SMS message. The unblocking of the car alarm will only be possible via the UNIMO SMS command. Ask the installer whether the IMO circuit has been installed in the car and what it blocks. 6 Remote access and service www.gsmlink.cz Both the user and the installer can use the www.gsmlink.cz website to register the car alarm and communicate with it remotely. The access is secure and protected with a password. The website allows inspection and control of the car alarm and the changing of phone numbers and texts. The CA-1803 version also allows the display of the current car position on a map. It is also possible to obtain an extract from the event memory listing including time information, source, event type and car movement history 1). If you need to change any car alarm settings, you do not usually have to go to your service company. You just have to make a phone call and the installer can perform remote setting. More detailed information about the GSMLink application is available at www.jablotron.cz. 10 1) only with CA-1803 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 10 18.5.2010 9:25:35

7 Phoning with a handsfree set (HF-03) With an installed HF-03 handsfree set you can use it as a phone in the car. Besides calling while driving, the set also allows you to listen to the sounds in the car during an alarm. Incoming call You can answer an incoming call by pressing any RC-8x keyfob button in the unset state or you can set the handsfree set to answer the calls automatically 3). You can answer calls from all telephone numbers. Calling from the car You can make calls while you are driving by pressing one of the RC-8x keyfob buttons (A, B, 1 or 2) preprogrammed by the installer. You can assign a different telephone number to each of the buttons 3). Thus you can call 4 preset numbers from your car. A call can be terminated By pressing any keyfob button. When set, the car alarm rejects incoming calls. If the car is blocked via the IMO command or if there is an alarm, an incoming call is answered automatically. You can thus listen to what is happening in the car or even speak to the person inside. 8 Other functions Checking the voltage and the battery in the car A set car alarm checks for a sudden drop in voltage in the car supply. It also checks the car battery voltage. If it drops below 10.5 V, the system sends a warning SMS. If the car alarm is equipped with a BB-02 backup battery, it is able to communicate even when the car battery is disconnected. (If the car alarm is only powered by the BB-02, the siren is disabled.) 3) the function must be enabled by an installer 11 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 11 18.5.2010 9:25:36

Controlling other appliances in the car If the car alarm is connected to other appliances in the car (e.g. an independent heating system), you can control them either through the RC-8x keyfob or via the AUX SMS command. When using the keyfob, press the and buttons simultaneously. For controlling with SMS commands, follow the table below. SMS commands can also be used to set the length of the impulse for the activation of an appliance. Command AUXA or AUXB AUXA (B) ON AUXA (B) OFF AUXA (B) xxm AUXA (B) xxs State the relay is triggered for 1 second ON - the relay remains triggered for the maximum of 60 min (1 can be used instead of ON) OFF - triggers the relay off (0 can be used instead of OFF) xxm - number of minutes for which the output shall be triggered xxs - number of seconds for which the output shall be triggered The AUX command can be customised (e.g. to HEATING) Monitoring car operation Vehicle log book (CA-1803 only) The Vehicle log book service can be used for the detailed monitoring of company vehicles. This service allows the automatic download of information about individual trips made by a given vehicle. This is subsequently displayed on a website with secured access both as a text overview of trips and on a map. 12 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 12 18.5.2010 9:25:36

A simplified form of car operation monitoring is also offered by the GSMLink website. The points which the car went through are shown as text including the precise time, and information about its speed. Each record contains a link button which shows the exact position on a map. The service provided via the GSMLink website is free of charge. More information is available at www.jablotron.com. Roaming If you travel abroad and your SIM card has roaming activated, the car alarm will work there too. The device will automatically enter the roaming partner s network. However, LOCATOR and CREDIT functions may not be available in foreign countries. Bluetooth - GPS for navigation The CA-1803 BT car alarm can be used as an external Bluetooth GPS positioning source. It can be easily used for communication with a navigational program, e.g. in a PDA or a mobile phone. Further information is available in the installation manual or from the installer. 13 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 13 18.5.2010 9:25:36

Conditions of the guarantee The manufacturer s guarantee applies to the product itself, not to its installation which is the installer s responsibility. The guarantee does not apply to batteries and possible sub-modules from other suppliers (e.g. a SIM card). The manufacturer provides a guarantee and a free repair service only if the installation and use of the product is in conformity with the instructions. The manufacturer shall not be held responsible for damage caused by the incorrect or unsuitable use of the product or possibly by its faults caused by intentional damage or damage caused by force majeure (fire, lightning strikes, etc.). The manufacturer recommends regular annual inspections to check the product is 100% functional. You can stipulate them to your installer. 14 4453 - Jablotron - Manuál Athos - EN.indd 14 18.5.2010 9:25:36
