INTRODUCTION The R-Series are multi beam active infrared sensors, consisting of a transmitter unit that sends syncronised beams of infrared light to a receiver unit, which evaluates this stream of infrared continuously. An alarm signal is generated when either a single beam or two adjacent beams are interrupted simultaneously (depending on setup). R-Series are available in 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 beam configurations with lengths varying from 560mm to 2000mm and offer exceptional performance and stability in both internal and external environments. They are ideal for protecting single windows, a series of windows, doors, ceilings, skylights, roller doors or anywhere where a curtain of protection would enhance the ability of early intruder detection. R-Series are simple to adjust using the multidirectional swivel bracket that allows 180 degrees of alignment. The onboard alignment buzzer and LED will simplify installations, just align the bottoms of the beams on the same plane, making sure the two e-shields are parallel with each other. Then aim the two e - shields at each other and lock in place once correct alignment has been achieved. FEATURES Durable aluminum casing, with UV treated high impact resistant PVC ends. Stock colour is white, whilst other colours are available on request. OPERATIONAL RANGE The range depends on the alignment, reflections and environmental brightness. The TX unit offers 4 selectable range settings, 5 15M for external installations and 10 30M for internal installations. Range settings are achieved by placing links on S1 and S2 to correspond to your requirements from table 3. Caution: Excessive power can compromise the beams integrity by generating too much Infrared signal, which might cause reflections from surrounding objects, and insufficient infrared signal can produce unwanted alarms from bright light from surrounding areas. First identify the minimum level required to operate the e Shield, then step the power up to the next setting and thoroughly re-test the system. Connect wires to terminal block After alignment, lock in place top and bottom of both transmitter and receiver with rotation locking screw (No 6 in Figure 5) Replace front cover and fix in place with screw Replace rubber front cover cap 7
ALIGNMENT Figure 1 ORIENTATION Direct sunlight can reduce the efficiency of the receiver and possible cause false alarms. In order to prevent such alarms orientate the receiver away from the sun. Figure 2 MULTIPLE BEAM INSTALLATIONS In multi beam installations it is necessary to alternate the Receiver and transmitter in order to avoid interferences. Figure 3 8
TAMPER PROTECTION Every unit has a tamper switch located under the covers protecting the cable terminals. If a tamper function is required, connect the terminals marked TAMP on the RX unit in series with your alarm circuit (figure xxx). If a 24Hr tamper circuit is required, enable the panels dual end of line feature and terminate accordingly. The transmitters tamper switch must be closed prior to beam alignment.
