State Does your agency accept federal filings for intrastate motor carrier operations (BMC 91 or BMC 91X or insurance as shown on FMCSA s Licensing and Insurance database)? Does your agency accept FMCSA self insurance certificates for intrastate operations? UT The Motor Carrier Division does not require any type of insurance filings with the Division. State Law requires insurance companies to notify whether a vehicle has valid insurance or if it gets cancelled, to a company who manages a database for the purpose of verification when officers run a license plate. However at this time they are not gathering information specific to motor carriers. The State of Utah requires the minimum amounts of insurance as indicated in 387.303. As far as self insurance certificates, we will honor them but we do not require them to file it with us. Does your agency have a self-insurance program available to intrastate motor carriers? FYI Limits shown as X/X/X (such as 100/300/100) are typically detailed as $X for bodily injury to or death of one person in any one accident and, subject to said limit for one person, $X because of bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in any one accident, and $X because of injury to or destruction of property of others in any one accident. Limits show as $X CSL, (such as $500,000 CSL), are Combined Single Limits. Standard Filing Forms are typically a Form E (liability insurance), Form G (liability surety bond), Form H (cargo insurance), or Form J (cargo surety bond). Required pertains to an automatic annual renewal of an insurance filing. All states requiring filings require a replacement filing in the event an existing filing expires or is canceled. This column only relates to purely intrastate carriers and those carriers whose operations are exemption from interstate/intrastate renewal preemption (hazardous materials, waste, recyclables, household goods, or non-consensual towing.) 9
