Thank you for purchasing the Scirocco convector heater. The SC2000Y and SC2000YM standard convectors come with a thermostat and three heat settings; the SC2000YST also includes a timer. The Scirocco convector heater is ideal for a wide range of fixed installation or portable heating applications in the home and office environment. Please read and understand these instructions before commencing installation, and leave them with the user when installation is complete. 1. Important safety points The Electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with the current edition of the I.E.E. Wiring Regulations. This appliance must be earthed. Only connect the unit to a single phase supply with a mains voltage as specified on the rating plate. Do not carry the appliance by the supply cord. The supply cord cannot be replaced by the user. If the cord is damaged the appliance should be returned to the manufacturer or an authorised service agent for replacement. The appliance must not be located immediately below an electrical socket outlet. Always keep the outlet and inlet grills clean. Do not cover the outlet as it may cause overheating. Children of less than 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall only switch on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance. This unit should be installed at least 1.5m from baths, showers, laundries, swimming pools etc. 2
When the unit is first switched on or after a long period unused, a burning smell may occur due to dust gathered on the heating element. 2. Installation Wall Mounting Ensure that the surface selected for mounting the appliance is suitable for the weight of the product. This unit should be installed at least 1.5m from baths, showers, laundries, swimming pools etc. If the heater is to be wall mounted, the feet should not be attached. Use the fixings and brackets provided. Choose the position to mount the heater carefully. See the installation guide for minimum mounting distances. Once the location of the heater is determined, frill 2 holes 8mm diameter x 43mm deep at 403mm centres at a minimum distance of 400mm from the floor (allowance must be made for any floor coverings, carpet etc. and if any skirting boards are present). The fixing holes must be a minimum of 400mm above the top edge of the skirting board. Attach 2 of the brackets (1 left handed and 1 right handed) to the wall using supplied wall plugs and fixing screws. The remaining 2 brackets are fitted to the base of the unit instead of the feet using the feet retaining screws so that the brackets project out at the rear of the heater and space the bottom edge of the unit away from the wall. Hang the heater on the wall mounted brackets. Remove heater. Drill holes 8mm diameter x 43mm deep and insert wall plugs supplied. The supplied fixings are for a solid wall only: brick, masonry etc. Alternate fixings may be required for cavity and soft walling: drywall, plaster etc. Floor standing If the heater is to be used in a free standing position, attach the provided feet. Place the feet inside the grooves of the metallic cover. Then attached both by means of the screws supplied with the unit. Tighten the screws to hold the feet securely but do not overtighten. Electrical This appliance must be earthed. The unit comes pre-wired with a 13A plug. If connection is required to the fixed wiring of the property it should be connected following the colour coding below: Brown: L Blue: N Green / Yellow: E 4
3. Operation Make sure the power switches are in the OFF position. Plug the power cord into the closest outlet (DO NOT use an extension cord). Turn the thermostat switch to maximum. Select the desired power setting by pressing switches 1 (750W) or 2 (1250W) or 1 and 2 (2000W). 1 2 3 When the desired temperature has been reached, turn the thermostat (3) until it clicks. The unit will then switch on and off by itself and maintain the selected temperature. SC2000YST Model Using the timer feature 1. Set the timer by moving the disc so that the pointer on the timer is the same as the time. For example at 1000 hours (10 o clock) set the disc to the number 10. 2. Position the slide switch to the central position. 3. Set the periods of time that you want the heater to work each day by pulling the outer teeth forward. Each tooth represents 15 minutes. 4. To reset the programming, move the teeth back to the original position before repeating step 3. 5. If the heater is required to run continuously, set the slide switch on the timer to the position indicated by. 6. If you do not wish to use the heater function but want the timer to continue to run, move slider switch to the position indicated by. 4. Maintenance Always isolate the appliance from the power supply before commencing any maintenance. Never use abrasive chemicals or materials to clean the unit. Clean the exterior of the unit using a soft, damp cloth. 5. 6. Guarantee and service policy This product is guaranteed against faulty materials and manufacture for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Hyco will in its sole discretion replace, repair or refund any faulty unit. Incorrect installation and failure to follow correct operating instructions are excluded. Consequential costs such as labour charges or damage to surroundings are expressly excluded. 7
INFORMATION FOR CORRECT DISPOSAL OF THE PRODUCT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EUROPEAN DIRECTIVE 2002/96/E. At the end of its working life this equipment must not be disposed of as household waste. It must be taken to a local authority waste collection centre or to a dealer providing this service. Disposing of electrical and electronic equipment separately enables its components to be recovered and recycled to obtain significant savings in energy and resources. In order to underline the duty to dispose of this equipment separately, the product is marked with a crossed out dustbin.
